Notice the tyres are old but they do not have the level of dry rot newer tyres do at even half that age. That is product obsolescence. Fearing for safety due to age and not the wear is getting caught in the fear mongering which is a good driver of sales and profits. Tyres are now only rated for 6 years life. Soon they will lower that to 4 years. Those that remember the 6 years tyre life will soon be gone. Just like those that remember tyres never had an age limit as the safety of the tyre was based on the internal layered/belt construction that is never exposed to rain, sun or weather. Newer drivers will soon be throwing tyres sooner even with full tread. In fact we are seeing that now.

Just found one in a barn . Been there 8 years, mint. No cracks in dash, no rust except floor pan. New motor, cleaned about three wheel barrows of dirt out. Rat under seat, rat nest in heating ducts. 1500$
