Oh my days - I love musicals, and I think Dame Judi is utterly incredible, but I had no idea about this! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing piece of musical history.

I love Dolores as much as the next gay man but, good lord, her back-phrasing is atrocious! However, I do not think this is her fault. The tempo on the cast recording is roughly 102bpm. This one is around 116bpm. I'm assuming that the conductor was told to pick up the tempo for television purpose and in doing so poor Dolores was left in the dust.

I don’t think I’ve heard anyone else add a “Ha!” after “anything else is a laugh”. Fabulous. And does she ever sell it.

Fabulous performance from a fabulous musical. Sadly I didn't see Dolores perform this on the London stage, but I did see Eartha Kitt in London in the same role ... (she was fabulous also)

So happy that modern renditions of the musical are incorporating this raw emotion that Judi has while playing Sally, it fits the character so well, I adore it!

Bearing in mind that in this production Sally is meant to be a very untalented, slightly delusional English girl - as opposed to Bob Fosse's ingenious re invention of this show, that creates Sally as a not very bright star, who has yet to be discovered, I suppose this is more in line with Isherwood's book. But now it's embarrassing. The film, however, is still as brilliant now as it was back then. As Fosse said, 'Nobody wants to sit in the cinema for two hours listening to someone who can't sing.' He was right. The problem with the film however is that it's so brilliant, this kind of approach to the material is all wrong.

A joy never to be forgotten. And she grew, and grew, and grew...a showstopper. A wall of woman, voice and life. Knocked back in seats. Film can't communicate it. LIVE is live. Had to be there. I was. Love to Dolly Delores. RIP.

What everyone misses is the magnificant Judi Dench is projecting a second-rate performance. She slips off notes or just misses them; hard to do. She projects a cheap and second-rate performer which was the character of Sally Bowles. Brilliant performance.

Judi Dench's voice is perfect for the part of Sally Bowleds as originally written, as is Peter Sallis and Lila Kedrova. I'd loved to have seen this production.

I remember seeing Judi in Cabaret all those years ago. Yes, she was great but it was Lila Kedrova who stole the show.

Polly Bergen was the Best with this song. Delores is a close second. Shirley MacLaine sung it on film she was Great.
