Question for ya, are you able to convert this dry detergent to a liquid for cold wash? I really like your recipe!!!
I hate hate hate shredding soap, it takes a lot of time and energy, I didn’t know that I can use a liquid soap together with a dry ingredients, amazing ❤
That laundry detergent is amazing ❤
If I did this recipe with bar soap instead how much would I use? Love the video can’t wait to make my first batch.
Just one bar of soap
Ty!
💯 agree with having a soda stream! I use it for so many things and it just elevated the ordinary. And I don't buy any of the canned sparkling water!
This looks so easy to make! We definitely want to add Elderberries at some point to our homestead.
Ty!
Vinegar is also a natural fabric softener. Just add it to the softener slot on washer. Clothes will not smell like vinegar. Been doing this for bout a year now n I have an HE washer 😊. Nice video! Never thought of using liquid Castile. I hate shredding soap too but it helps to get rid of the scrap pieces from soap I’ve made ❤
“You should probably never leave me, because you never know what’s going to happen.” A wife’s unpredictability with items $100,000+. Every man’s dream.
What a cool wife and husband. You guys make a great couple. No doubt you two will have a fun life together
You ARE really lucky that he is so chill. Let us know if he teaches some kind of masterclass.
If you all love it that's all that matters...🙂👍💯
I have made my own before too. It was years ago and now I have an HE washer and I’m wondering if you can use this homemade version in that washer.
You can. I do
I’ve never heard of the German schmear before. It definitely looks a lot better than the old red brick.
Awesome job!!!
Thanks so much! 🫶
Which would you choose? Better house or better land?
For the full German Schmear process, check out our full-length video❤
Love your hoop house! Peppers have been so good for us this year too. Not having daylight after work has been tough...makes me a little melancholie but this is momentary, I keep telling myself.
It is tough that it gets dark so early, but yes, just temporary! And maybe a little gift of rest, too:)
Hello 👋 fellow farmtroverts, I would like to suggest a song for you to listen to. It’s by an artist called Carrie Newcomer, the song is leaves don’t drop, they just let go. I hope you do learn to enjoy all of the seasons. I’m such a skinny old farmtrovert that the cold really gets to me. I wear carhartt insulated coveralls and several layers under in the winter. I live in western Tennessee and it’s really not that cold here👍💪🙌🙏🌈✌️
Listened to it! It's so beautiful and perfectly captures what is beautiful about the changing seasons. Thanks for sharing!
the Cracklings can also be sprinkled on tacos, and they will give a great flavour when stewed in a red chili. Just don't add to much, you don't want your dishes to be too greasy.
Going to try that! Thanks!
Finally, a TH-camr that knows butter and lard in biscuits. Yes, please.
Match made in heaven 😍😍
Thank you for making a video about this. I appreciate it!! I will be going out and getting some ingredients asap!
You are so welcome! Thank you!
does the liquid soap make it clumpy?
It depends on how well you mix it. If you mix it well, it can be evenly distributed.
Can you share where you shop at? Just curious 😊
Food Lion is our local grocery store.
I purchased all at Walmart and also on Amazon.
Commenting for the algorithm and just to piss off Frankie the Arsehole. :)
Another inbred YT busybody with zero of substance to contribute.
I have been doing this for a year and LOVE IT!!
That's good to hear!
One T per load? Hard to believe!
It works for us, but feel free to add more if you need to!
Thank you for this Everyone needs to stop buying all the crap...
We do like a good natural alternative:)
You can find the full recipe in our full-length video❤
Please don’t quit your day job. You’re no chemist. From the garbled discussion of bicarbonate and carbonate it’s possible to conclude that sleeping through chemistry class did not deter you from posting a video to show how much you learned.
If you can explain it better, by all means, feel free! I'm sure everyone would love to read your detailed explanation:)
@ When two equivalents of sodium bicarbonate are heated and decompose thermally, they yield one equivalent each of carbon dioxide, water and sodium carbonate. This process, called calcining, is how washing soda is produced commercially from sodium bicarbonate.
@@FrankGutowski-ls8jt Great. Appreciate your contribution!
@@FrankGutowski-ls8jtthat's what he said pretty much Get a life Frankie boy... Erghhhhhh
@ Yet another armchair internet guidance counselor with too much time on his hands…
All liquid soaps are 40%-50% water. Dr. Bronners dilution cheat sheet calls for 1/3-1/2 cup PER LOAD. Your concoction contains 1/2 cup, enough soap to wash ONE LOAD. One tbsp/load? 168 loads/batch? Ridiculous. Expect results comparable to washing with plain water. It’s hard to believe that mature adults think this way. But here you have it. Oh well, that’s YT for ya!
Baking soda is a filler as used here. It’s partially neutralized washing soda, sodium carbonate. It doesn’t soften water under laundry conditions. Borax and WS are both alkaline water softeners. You don’t need both. Borax is BANNED in the UK and EU. No, dear. Borax and baking soda are not substitutes.
I commend you on teaching how to save money while grocery shopping. I was going to mention "cost per pound" but you covered that when you explained your spreadsheet. It would help, however, if you discussed the cost per pound when you are doing the actual comparison. Such as pre cooked bacon's unit cost was $57.07 vs $9.99 per pound for uncooked bacon. Keep on producing episodes around this topic. People need to learn about it for sure.
Thanks so much for the feedback! We really appreciate it:)
I hhave come to understand that gardening (homesteading, farming....) is like being a Chicago Cubs fan: Wait until next year!
Lol. We are hoping it is like being a Red Sox fan-- years of torture, then an unreal comeback, and a happy ending.
Absolutely!!!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my gosh, I love this! I'm going to start making my goal in the areas I stuggle to just not get worse 😂 That's fantastic. Glad I found y'all!
Ha! We are united around one goal😆😆
Thank you for sharing your experience, you've encouraged me to keep going. I'm chuckling as I myself am harvesting in a similar situation. 200 more feet to go. Bless you
Haha! So glad it is not just us! Wishing you all the best!

I cook a whole package of bacon at once but don't cook it all the way. I then drain the fat and put in a zipper bag. When I need bacon I just take out what I need, lay on paper towels and finish cooking in the microwave.
So you have your own pre-cooked bacon! Nice!
Hey guys, I just recently discovered the homesteading movement and it’s the first time in a long time I actually felt inspired for the future. It doesn’t matter if you’re an expert or not, there’s enough of those, I think more importantly that people can see that it’s possible that there’s another path forward. Wish you guys the best and stay blessed!
Totally agree! It is nice to know there is another path for sure! It feels good to step out of the rat race and live more simply. Wishing you all the best as well!
I planted an apple tree 2 years ago. The first year's flowers/fruits I picked off n threw in the compost. The 2nd year I have allowed to fruit beautiful mature fruit. The tree was not raised as a little tree as i just discovered that's possible from watching your video. It's as high as I'd like it to get. Can I still make a little tree now?
The most ideal thing would be to go back and make a heading cut to force the scaffold to be lower, but that would set you back time-wise for when you'd get fruit. So you could try to keep it very pruned. There is a section of the Grow a Little Fruit Tree book that tells you how to go back and make the heading cut if you didn't do the initial one-- if you want to check that out for more details:)
It's all about experimenting, right? 😅
Very cool gate!
