Easy to follow instructions on how to make a Leather Patch Hat using the Hydra 9 Dual Source Laser by OneLaser. Even though the Hydra 9 has both the 100w Co2 Glass Tube and a 38w RF Tube, we used the 38w RF tube for the entire project. How To Make Leather Patch Hats - Co2 Laser - OMTech - Chinese Laser
Just ordered the Hydra 7 Dual Source as my first laser. Quick question about the hats.....can you also use unstructured, low profile hats or do they have to be structured?
You can use any hats. I have done most hat styles out there… even beanies. All the same process… except beanies are a little less press time.
Nice machine, the built in level is a gimmick though, the machine doesn't need to be level, just the bed needs to be a consistent distance from the laser head.
The level installed to the machine wasn’t intended as a bed level. Just a level in general. Like you stated, you are correct. Bed just needs to be level to the gantry/laser head.
Same machine I’ve ordered! I need this, lol! I use a similar settings/press as you on probably the exact same press. I’ve found that with pressing over the seam that the pre-press is crucial to keep the seam from showing through the patch consistently. Great job and nice design, brother!
Awesome! Appreciate it. Pre heat has always worked well for me. I have stuck with it since.
You need to clean your camera's front lens - the light all blurs out :)
Yes, 100%. I didn't even notice till I was editing the video. Frustrating.
40mm for glass and 25 mm for rf max, got it.
Why not use higher power and faster speeds on the glass tube? Seams a waist to have the power and not use it.
You can always go higher power, allowing for a higher speed. I was just trying to keep it in the middle for those that didn't want to wear out the tube as fast.
can you do a cut test comparing the two tubes and different thicknesses and types of materials...plywood, hardwood, acrylic? Enjoying watching your OneLaser videos.
That’s the plan for future videos.
Can you explain the differences in the MOPA & Galvo?
Thanks for showing using both sources at one time. I was really curious about that. I think the hydra is on my list
Glad to be of help. The Hydra is a great machine!
That was great! I've been anxious to see how the two lasers work together. I ordered the XRF....should I be concerned about the RF laser being able to cut through 1/8 or 1/4" materials?
Not at all. I will work with those thicknesses. Not a problem!
OMTECH customer service is basically non existent and this is why I will not buy their machines.
Galvo or MOPA?
Mopa all the way! A lot more capabilities. Comes at a slightly higher price, but worth it if within the budget!
That is an incredible machine!
100% I agree!
I don't know what is under those bolt holes on the compact versions, but I imagine dropping something small down one may cause a problem if you don't get it out.
They are sealed. Nothing goes into the Electonic compartment. I thought that at first too... but nope... good to go
Very impressive!! I'm curious what kind of electrical upgrades you had to do to run everything?
I had a few more circuits installed to handle the extra machinery!
Nice. Thanks for making the video. I didn't know you could run both lasers on a single job - that is a game changer. A good idea for another video would be a material test in lightburn (hint, hint). Happy holidays bro.
Thanks, I will add that to the list of upcoming videos.
RF is 8K resolution TV, and Glass is 1080P TV, for engraving, that's my understanding for now.
@@MakerDaddy well said!
Finally, someone is breaking it down. Thanks! Could you also do a video explaining what is needed before receiving the machine? includes tables, a compressor, vents, and the liquid necessary for glass. I'm not sure if there’s anything else to consider.
Yes, I will add that to the list of upcoming videos.
Great comparison. Thanks for showing that.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the feedback!
Thanks Josh! Can’t wait to get my own Hydra
I haven’t purchased the Hydra yet-I’m waiting for the XRF to arrive first. I’ll probably need to sort out my garage to make room for this monster.
Did you need a forklift for the 9, or were you able to get it into your space with a pallet jack?
Pallet jack from the delivery driver worked just fine...
Is there anything we need to look out for that’s hangs off the top of the laser body like an emergency stop switch? I broke mine switch on my other laser when trying to move mine down the basement.
Yes, the emergency stop and the key setup is raised off the top of the machine about an 1", but can be removed if needed.
Giving you a thumbs up just for your shop chair with a USPS box full of bills😂
I don't think those were bills. Outgoing orders to be dropped of at USPS. :)
I have a 50w fiber laser i don't know how to mark same this can you help me?
Ohhh my gosh, I did this shit wrong. Gracias Gringo!
Wow. Super nice machine. Too big for me and my apartment. BTW what can the 38w RF laser cut and engrave? I'm considering the XRF with metal tube laser and wondering what materials it can cut and engrave. Any info would be appreciated. Sub'd & liked.
Do you have any updated videos on the this model?
Looks nice. My 80w Pro was crated exactly the same (but with something similar to GRK screws), same cross braces , same foam for the long ride, and the same yellow toolbox. I wonder sometimes that all these laser companies are built by the same factory just with different shells, etc. Similar to TTI, which makes Milwaukee, Ryobi, etc. This one is impressive
Sorry write i used to love you content but cam edmons ruined it for me with his thin skin on facebook and remived me from all of you group. I no longer support any of you and hope your onelaser business fails. Good luck.
Looks impressive, my only criticism would be the use of lower end roller wheels for the motion system, something you'd never see on higher end machines.
Nice unboxing! This is the exact model I want, only laser to win me over from the Thunderbolt Pro 32. When will you be providing more content on this laser? Oh yeah, liked and subscribed!
thank you I had this doubt until I started to do a research on lens shapes and how they focus light
100 percent fuc*ing clean wow the cable setup amazing 😮
Nice happy to see the wheels. That will make getting the thing into its resting place when it arrives a crap ton easier!
Definitely! Will make it a ton easier!
OneLaser appears to have angered or terrified many competitors with its product; I notice that all the recent videos in the comment section feature some recognizable faces doing their best to criticize, which is amusing.
Unfortunately, there will always be these types of people on the internet.
Nice job on the overview. Looks like they're using a Beam Expander on the RF source, it's a shame the XRF doesn't come with one, optional cost?
I appreciate the feedback! Yes we notced that as well on the XRF models. Good news, all customers will be getting the beam expander going forward, and parts will be sent out to current users. As far as I know, no additional cost is expected.
@@wrightswoodworksnice!
This individual seems to be deliberately tarnishing the reputation of this new brand across the internet, likely at the behest of anxious competitors. Such actions are truly disgraceful.
Hi Josh, I'm in deciding between this compact version and the previous one, mainly debating between the hardware changes that shed off about 2k of the price between the previous design and this one. I'm wondering if you've seen any difference in capability or performance on this compact unit vs the previous model? Thanks in advance 👋
Hey there… no I haven’t seen any difference. I actually prefer the compact over the regular size. It’s my favorite fiber machine right now. I use it daily.
Can you run all pf your fiber lasers at the samw time off of the one computer? Or is it only one at a time?
Yes I can. All from the one computer… different instances of lightburn.
They are nice toys for business but too expensive for hobby. I told my son that if he can do laser engraving business then I can give him 10k to start, but he doesn't know how to get started. I like the xTool F1 Ultra, but 4k for hobby is too much.
Thank you! Does it have red framing for preview on the piece?
Yes it does!
Question mine did not come with the silicone hose to attach to the inlet /outlet. What size hose is that thank you.
With 15" of z-axis on the compact, how tall can the engraving subject be?
Convex side up is the way lenses are designed . Sadly, they are designed for transmitting images and not for intensifying laser beams. The "correct way" is a myth. Yes, it works but there is so much more to understanding how lenses work. See this two part video th-cam.com/video/7N8Th1-IF4s/w-d-xo.html The wrong way will often improve cutting.
Just for safety how do you know that the water went through the tube I couldn't see mine it was so fast lol
The reviews for OMTech are quite varied. I'm nervous to buy one. Should I?
@@ciarahogan7095 I have 7 OMTECH machines and love them. Haven’t had any issues. If you decide to purchase… you can use Laserguys5off to save 5% off your total purchase.
Just chiming in to say I’m currently shopping for a 2nd omtech. I love mine and haven’t had any issues with it.
Is the compact an auto or manual focus?
Have you tried using a rotary with a cup?
No I haven’t. I don’t think they will fit correctly.
Do you have a link directly to the leatherette color/type you used? Or a number I can search on the site you linked please? Thank you! Hat looks amazing!
