Jumbo performed very well on this trip .To be able to guide such large vehicle through such a tight track ,soft beaches and muddy tracks was surprising. It sure provides a luxury camping experience and enables us to reach some amazing destinations.

Our first long trip was on rough dirt roads to see how it performed. The results, a big yes from us however we have since changed the front and rear shock absorbers for Koni brand and are still searching for the dust leaks. We covered about 2,500 kl of dirt in total and are satisfied the Sprinter did a good job.

After visiting Brother Bill in Broome, an interesting way home seemed to be the shortest route. We drove south to Sandfire roadhouse near 80 mile beach and turn left onto Kidson track and headed east to Alice Springs . From there we headed east again on the Madigan line to Birdsville. An epic trip, 4 days to Alice and another 6 to Birdsville.

Great video, we have a sprinter V6 4x4 LWB, but have not been able to but it to serious use yet. We intend to go to WA next year. What modification would you recommend, we intend to do some beach driving, Gib River Road, nothing to serious. How do you find the ground clearance and does diff lock much difference?
We are very happy with them . They are Alloy so not rocksliders but there are a lot of skid marks on ours so they have kept the van off immovable objects. Made in the Gold Coast Jim Hunt 0404516763
Hi. Lsd shimmed and lots of weight in the back.
Hi, wondering Is this the standard Jayco sprinter all terrain AWD with a diff locker added? Or a full Mercedes sprinter 4x4, was that an option when you bought from Jayco?
Hi. Yes we had the choice but went for the v6. However the AWD will be OK. The previous VW Amaroks performed quite well so Mercs will as well.
Nice run in the Falcon, very impressive. What mod's?
I notice you have put sidesteps on, what do u think of them and which brand are they as they seemed tucked up nice and close to the body? Im thinking of puting some on my lwb sprinter
Loving your videos! Thanks for sharing! Quick question, who installed the locker on your van? And is it an AWD? Picked up a 2024 AWD 3 weeks ago. Stock as a rock currently, but can’t wait to start kitting it out.
congrats on your purchase. ARB Maroochdore fitted the locker
what tyres do you use?
laughed at the writing on windscreen, gears indicator. I know the feeling I have sprinter to,RWD LWB bloody things are to smart for their own good. hey im thinking of upgrading to a AWD LWB. do you rate yours?
Loved watching this, Agnes. Thanks for sharing. Looks like the sprinter is capable of taking you where you want to go. Cheers, Tonia.
Don't you just love the sounds of the branches passing by! Keep pushing that Sprinter. Good trip guys.
Hey bud great vid, can I ask you is it lifted and did you have singles on bum.cheers guys
sorry for the long delay. It is a standard 419 . since had the rear springs redone by Gympie spring works.
Excelent loved it please do more
That was great thank you love it all the way
This is pure gold!
Hi, I love your videos of your adventures. So good to see. That Merc is amazing I’m very impressed where you have been able to take it. How many spare tyres do you have & what tyres are you running? Also does the Merc have a lift kit or is that the standard height of the 4x4 model? Thanks
Hi .we run 265x75x16 tyres .just the 1 spare . The 4x4 Sprinters are lifted by Merc. Its offroad ability never ceases to amaze us but not made for rock crawling.
Hi guys, i have a 2023 LWB AWD sprinter and would love to get a diff lock but cant find anywhere that can supply and fit. Any ideas? As i note you guys have one.
ARB make them and supply the world with them. ARB Maroochy fitted ours cost around $6000.
No a hot watch❤ required for this adventure
4x4 and it beeps all the time? doesn't that drive you nuts
yes the beeps are crazy. i keep forgetting to search how to turn the beeps off.
Awesome!! Did you do 19 psi all the way around or just the fronts?!
usually have the backs about 4psi more
Great stuff. Love seeing the sprinter beeing used as they should be.
Awesome 👌
Can you tell me where you got the front recovery points from? Cheers.
There is a winch bar from Adventure fitouts behind the plastic Cheers
Fuel in Denmark? That's a long way!
In a canoe or kayak these curvy rivers take a lot of time. Seen spots where taking the canoe out and walking it for a while could save miles. Then you start understanding why rivers are turned into canals, locks and dams installed. Economy wins. But that meandering is beautiful.
You just solved the mystery of the Loch Ness Monster
those rear shocks are not doing their job.
Yes you are correct. I installed adjustable Koni shocks but found under load the rear axle assembly was rotating slightly and flexing back , we used to call it axle tramp in my youth. with drag racing. Now have a leaf pack from Gympie spring works and problem solved plus better wheel travel
I saw one in Yeppoon today that’s why I’m watching now , Thursdays lotto $150 million I’ll buy one lol
hi great vid are there any special maps best to use cheers lee
Hi . Hema have a usefully map of the Murray River and we joined the Murray River boaters association. There are guide books but we are away travelling so may lead you astray with a guess. Cheers
Hi . What a great trip you did. Have watched TH-cam video 20 plus times . Just wanted to know where u left your car and trailer when u were away.
Hi . We left the car and trailer Island reach caravan park in Mildura and rented a car at Murray Bridge to retrieve it. Cheers Don
@@NuMoonvl4936 thanks Don. Will check it out. Happy travels to u and your wife. Thanks
Great trip to watch and thanks for sharing your journey with us. Whereabouts did you get your book ( about the Murray river ) from? Was that book very helpful / informative? I’m thinking about doing a trip along the Murray.
We found the books on line also joined the Murray River boaters association. Cheers Don
Great trip. If i ever get back to the River. Ill be using a boat like yours. Cheers.
Hi - great video on how the 4x4 handles the beach. We are looking to buy one and went for a test drive today. The noise coming from the electric sliding door was significant. We are unsure if that is because it is a display model and people have been using it incorrectly. Have you had any issues with the electric sliding door? regards
No issues. Less noise than what we call sliders or backpacker type vans as they slam as will.
test
Hi, great video showing how the 4x4 handles on the beach. We are looking at purchasing one and just took one for a test drive today. The noise from electric sliding door was significant. We are not sure if that a one of because it is a display model and many people using the door incorrectly. Have you had any issues with the electric door? regards
sorry for the long delay. just found these questions,. we have had no problems at all but I clean and lubricate the tracks regularly . noise is not an issue for us. Cheers
Hello, we are from Germany. On the other side of the earth…😅. I habe discovered the great Videos of you und Jumbo. We will soon also drive the sprinter 4x4 in 7 Meter in length and 4.1 tons. I am interessed in the Rhino Wheels with the tires. In how many inches do you drive them? 16“, 17“ or 18“? With wich size of the tire have travelling with Jumbo. BR from Europe, Steve.👍
Hi . Amazing that you found our videos thanks. We run 16" Rhino rims with 265x75x16 tyres . We are happy with the combination. Good look. Don
Hi guys, I enjoyed your video, what is the draft of your boat? did you run into any depth issues?
Hi draft is about 750mm with outboard down. 300mm up. We had a good depth sounder and had no problems. We needed a good sounder to find a clear bottom to drop anchor.
Thanks for your quick reply. I'm planning a trip this year and have a draft of about 450mm. You've given me a bit more confidence in making it! I will invest in a good sounder. Any other advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated. @@NuMoonvl4936
What is the round black device on your roof? Do you rear dif lock or central lock ?
Hi the dome is wineguard WiFi modem which take a sim card. The first trip was all wheel drive with neither centre or rear lock. Just turned off ESP. If you go to our utube channel we put a fraser island trip and Simpson Desert run
you guys did an amazing job.thanks for uploading and sharing
Looked like a fantastic trip don't you fish
Hi We tried to fish. Caught carp .
Finally a real test! Thanks guys.
i own the same Jayco all terrain for 2 years but never tried 4WD driving . Great video telling me what the van can do. Thumb up !
Beach looks like any other beach lol
Hi, I was just watching your latest video, fantastic! We have a similar Sprinter and looking for a Jerry Can and Max Track holder, we noted yours, did you buy it, or was made to your spec. If it was bought, can you please let me know where I can get one. Enjoy you videos, keep them coming.
Hi sorry for the slow reply. Ian from Vida style solutions can supply them. Good luck. Cheers Don
Hi Thanks for watching. 12 to 14 litres per 100. We have larger tyres 265.75.16. Last of v6. We were told the new train turbo are a bit better on fuel.
Is that the latest twin turbo model? We are thinking of upgrading from our RM19.1. Whats it like for fuel economy on the highway? Cheers
Hi sorry for the slow reply. It is the v6 model. Fuel is in 13s . I think the new ones are better
The Drone at 18:45 is magical. Thanks for sharing!
Good vid, we are also in the line to get one, looking at the new Kimberley too (bit expensive though)
Thanks for sharing! Keen to fit recovery points and maybe a winch to my Van. Any intel on who made yours?
Sorry for the slow response I just found it. We fitted a winch and Adventure fitouts winch bar. I have found these vans are more capable than I firs thought . We have travelled a lot of rough inland dirt roads and the front suspension has sagged so just installed coilover front shocks .now is great. I am planning to remove the winch.
Did very same thing in 1984 and still looks the same. Later on I made a house boat an went all up and down that river. Hope u have a great time.
Great Video, thanks very much for sharing!! Do you still have the Farr Binks 30 ?
no sold to a bloke in SA
@@NuMoonvl4936 Thanks for your reply. Looks like a great version of the Binks 30. Have a great day :)
