My box turtles love tomatoes 🍅 box turtles also like to dig. If they stick around give them all the love you can give them. They are special animals.

Taking them outside in the sun is always a good idea and fun for us watching them. My neighbors probably think I’m crazy walking my snapping turtle

No he just started doing it. But he also likes when I get him out of his pond and let him walk around.

@@dsbanimals4010 This little guy still fits in the palm of my hand. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to support his growth and development. His name is Little Foot. I imagine when he is grown his name will be Big Foot! Haha

@melissagarland3477 love the name little foot. Reminds me of my childhood. Onyx seemed to grow slowly at first then he just got big fast. I feed onyx small amounts every day. Shrimp, tilapia, mice and he likes cuddle bone it’s a good source of calcium. Well, he eats the calcium sometimes. They also say 30 minutes of sun is like all day under the lights we give them.

@@seanhenderson6285 it’s a 500 gallon. No brand it was an abandoned spill tray from the oil field. Took a lot of cleaning but came out nice 😊

It works for me. My snapping turtle Onyx is now almost 13 pounds.

They do very good being handled. A lot better than they used too. They were wild box turtles someone else had. I took them to give them a better home. They do better and better every day. I know they’re happy.

Once the days get warmer and stay warmer I’ll get him out and weigh him again. I like to let him walk around in the sun. ☀️

Onyx. Like the rock type Pokémon.

He or she? Borrowed underground with mom and dad before I had a chance to move he or she inside. Crossing my fingers hibernation goes well. So ready for spring and them all to wake up.

You would think so but he did great. He is now 11 pounds and in a 500 gallon pond loving life. Common snapping turtles move so mush just wanted to give him as much room as possible.

His shell Is 11 1/2 inches long and 8 inches wide. Just weighed in at 11.2 pounds. His pond is 8 foot long and 5 foot wide. Has 17 inches of water all over.

@@dsbanimals4010 he’s huge now. How old again? I found a used 180gal aquarium for my common. It’s 6’x2x2. Water tested for a week. Took four of us to move it in the house and downstairs. Should be good for awhile I hope. My commons shell is about 6” long.

I definitely agree. These goldfish started off as feeder fish. Turtles befriended them.
