The Hobbiton movie set, used for filming The Lord of the rings and The Hobbit movies. This stunning 1,250 acre Alexander sheep farm with striking similarity to The Shire™, as described by JRR Tolkien was selected by Sir Peter Jackson.
For The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, there were 39 Hobbit Hole facades built out of untreated timber and polystyrene. For The Hobbit Trilogy there were 44 Hobbit Holes facades built from permanent materials, which remain within the Movie Set today.
In December 2023 these two fully furnished hobbit holes in Bagshot row were opened to the public.
