    As you know, because you’re one of my subscribers, I’m totally blind as well. I’ve been looking for a way to record my music and put it up onto TH-cam, but I’ve been buying all of the wrong stuff, because it seems not to be accessible for one reason or another. I was wondering what you recommend about logic, because I keep hearing that logic is the one to get. Is his logic been proven to be the best recording software? Thank you so much for letting me know. You can send me an email if you wish. I hope we get to hear you sing and play again. You are a master on the keyboard.

    The solo button is just so in case that you have a song with 10 tracks or so and you want to hear just one track clearly by itself just so you can focus on that track.. You can solo it and only you will hear that track by itself and you can do your editing and stuff. And then you can on solo it so you can come back to all your tracks playing at the same time. it is a very useful button.. I use it a lot when I’m trying to mix everything down after I’m done recording everything. period Sometimes the sounds can be very with the whole mix and you can’t hardly hear everything. So what I do is that I use arrows up and down to change tracks and once I find the track that I want to edit. I pressed the S button on the keyboard to solo it or I also go to the mixer section and press on the solo button and then I start bringing the volume up or maybe I put some EQ to it or maybe I put some effect and then I go ahead and un solo it and listen to it to see if it sounds better and I can keep solo it and un solo it. Until I am done with the track.. Sometimes I use the M button so I can mute it too or I go to the Mixer to mute it. In case that I want to hear the song without that track. Maybe my vocals. Anything you want you can mute or solo.. Hopefully this information is useful. God bless you.

    Reaper is the gold standard for the blind community at this time. Logic still has a lot of accessibility issues. As of the latest version of logic pro, the pitch flex is still not accessible, drum machine design are nowhere near accessible, there is so much work to be done to ever improve Especially the editing of tracks within logic Pro. But for now, reaper is the gold standard, and I’m requesting that you do more reaper tutorials, especially when it comes to editing and arranging, mixing, mastering, putting together the final finish for the final product of what ever it could be, a song, a mix for a song, a podcast, or anything in between.

    Hi Zachary, Thanks so much for your video. I'm thinking of buying a Komplete Kontrol S49 purely for this accessibility but not sure about the keys being 'Synth action' instead of traditional piano hammer type action. I notice you are playing another keyboard below the Komplete Kontrol keyboard, can I ask how have you linked/connected the two so you are able to use the sounds from the Komplete Kontrol on your other keyboard??

    Well I officially dropped out of logic pro and I am only using reaper now because of it’s total accessibility, I could actually get more done on reaper versus logic pro, especially when it comes to mixing, mastering, compressing audio and pretty much making the final finished product for radio and other platforms out there. Logic pro still has a lot of accessibility issues especially when it comes to the following, flex pitch, flex time, and other forms of flex mode, editing vocals and the pitch of someone’s vocals to make it perfect, and so on. Editing Mitty in logic pro is still not totally accessible either. On the other side, in reaper, I could edit someone’s vocals as far as like pitch, timing, and even sampling and looping things, as well as performing any stretch timing and automation, stretch markers and other things. I am hoping you could get more reaper videos out there very soon to the general blind public. Because pretty much, I could do almost anything in reaper versus logic. So therefore, I have officially dropped out of logic pro, it will still be with me, but reaper is my preferred digital audio workstation when it comes to doing professional audio and midi projects as well as vocals. Reaper will be my future especially when it comes to making any sort of money out of professional audio and midi as well as vocal projects more than anything. And there is video editing that is totally accessible within reaper as well.

      Hey Mark, definitely agree with you in regards to Reaper being the future. "I've also pretty much stopped using Logic for any personal work, and now only use it at college when needed. I'm sorry for the lack of videos on the channel over the past few months, unfortunately with school I get very busy, but will be on break soon so more videos are coming. There are a lot of exciting things in the works in regards to accessibility, especially around plug-ins using JUCE, and I'll be covering some of those as well as more Reaper stuff in the near future. In the meantime take a look at Surge if you haven't already. It's a free open source synthesizer that is completely accessible, and is one of the best out there when it comes to sound and functionality. It's literally the reason I was able to take a synth programming class this semester and do as well as I did. Hope you have a great weekend, and look out for more videos coming soon.

    Hi, I just got a version of the S88 MK2 and running the Komplete Kontrol software on a Windows 10 PC but I'm having a hard time moving around the interface and loading in other libarries or using the different modes. I don't know if you have to have a DAW or not, or if I'm just using the service incorrectly because I don't know how it works. Plus are you able to use the performance mode to practice your music, cause for me it doesn't seem to read the interface for dialogs and things that seem important to be able to create music. If you could help me out I'd really appreciate it.

    I've got Reaper and while it's more accessible I work in Logic for now because of the Library and Drummer Track. Also I needed to learn how basic plugins and chains work and I can learn from all the presets. I agree once you need more advanced music production Reaper may well offer more-to someone who is versed in DAW music production. I'm looking forward to checking out your Reaper videos. Thanks. Hi Zachary, Thanks for your demos. Voice over is too loud and it's hard to follow you because, at the same time, your voice is not loud enough! For the Logic accessibility, I know here in France a software made by a blind engineer but it only works in french. They are working to translate it soon! I don't use it because I'm not a logic pro user but it semms to make the job. I also have friends of mine working with reapper and they are very satisfied of the accessibility and the workflow of the software. It seems easier and more handy than Logic ! Greetings, Mounir Luc Maghraoui

      Thanks for letting me know about the volume issue. I noticed that after I uploaded the video, and will definitely correct it in the next upload. That's interesting, I didn't know there were other efforts to help with Logic's accessibility. I know of one program that was discontinued called "Flogic" developed by Chi Kim, but it's interesting to see other efforts being made on that front. Personally I still feel Reaper is the better option, but I hope that at some point Apple will fix some of Logic's accessibility issues.

    Automation is accessible in logic with voiceover. It’s pretty simple there are youtube tutorials on this topic. Just research how to automate in logic with voiceover

    • @ZacharyTaibiBennoui
      @ZacharyTaibiBennoui 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      While automation is technically doable in Logic with VoiceOver, I would not call it accessible. Part of the reasoning is that you can’t edit automation points in any meaningful way except by using the event list. While you can use the event list to change automation values and delete things, it's kind of a painful process, especially if you have a lot of points you need to copy or move. Also you have no control over the automation curve, that is to say, how it reacts over time, and that's a problem if you want to do things like having a track start fading in slowly but then have the fade speed up when it gets near the end of the automation. It's not just automation either, I personally feel Logic’s accessibility is starting to lag behind the competition, especially with Reaper and now even Ableton hopefully joining the party soon. I hope Apple will start focusing on Logic’s accessibility again, but as of now I feel Reaper is the better option for blind producers, especially if you already have or can get a sound library.

      I’m visually impaired myself and I have a deep passion for music and I currently use logic pro primarily for making beats, however, I’m just getting started on reaper for editing, mixing, mastering, as well as EQ, audio compression, and more. If you have a strong desire to learn and use reaper especially for vocal recordings along with editing and mixing, we should one day collaborate and work together. I have reaper for both Mac and windows. Currently using the 60 day evaluation license on both computers and I will be buying a license ASAP.

  • @marcmelendez1396
    @marcmelendez1396 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If everything works out for me with reaper when it comes to editing, mastering, mixing, and processing audio and midi professionally, I’m only just going to use logic as my beat making source because as of right now, that’s my primary beat making source as I transition into reaper. Reaper will be a game changer for me and open up the floodgates for me even more.

      Hey man, that's awesome! I know a little more than what I covered in this video, but I didn't want to overwhelm anyone who was just starting out so I kept it to the basics. Later on we're going to cover a lot of things including automation, stretch markers, and doing some plug-in demos. Please let me know if there's anything I can improve upon, especially since you're more experienced than I am currently.

    • @ZacharyTaibiBennoui
      @ZacharyTaibiBennoui 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@louiscastro77 A lot of the commands are going to be the same on windows and Mac, but with a few key substitutions. In the upcoming videos I'll try to differentiate between windows and Mac, but I can't promise it will be totally accurate since I don't use Windows as my main operating system. The Reaper WhatsApp group would probably be a really useful resource for you in conjunction with these videos, there's a link to sign up on the REAPER accessibility wiki which is in the description.
