wow, thank you SOOO much for these tutorials!! i have been so fascinated with traditional weaving and textiles recently- card/tablet weaving being another favorite- and i started to see others mention finger weaving. but i was struggling to find how to do these more complex patterns until i stumbled across your videos!! so thankful 🙏🙏🙏🎉❤
I wish you'd shown the resulting pattern more, ie what ours should look like if we did it right.
Fascinating. I’m learning Sprang, and wondering how many of these techniques are applicable.
Thanks for all your videos , you have taught me a lot and given me confidence to complete a strap for my crochet mochila style bag
Thank you so much for your videos! Living so far away from Oklahoma, I don't know any other Chickasaws to learn from or help me when I get stuck. Your videos are the next best thing to being there in person.
How do I figure length of my cords? You may have covered this previously, if so I apologize; I just found this wonderful video. TY
Spend more time on your hands so we can see your fingers ,,,,we can still here you talking ,,,,
This is the style I'm learning, thank you
Thank you so much!! I almost gave up learning to finger weave☹. you helped me troubleshoot what I was doing incorrectly. greatly appreciate yous videos!!
You are welcome. I'm so glad my videos could help!
Thank you!!!
Glad to be of help
great video, especially the little tips - thanks!
Thank you!
really clear steps, thanks for making these videos! 💞
Glad they are helpful.
great video - love the boys method! 😄
By far the most fun even if it's not very accurate 🤣
Could you do single weave patterns? Also have you heard putting beadwork into the weaving? I'm not sure if it's Chickasaw traditional but it's the oldest style in Cherokee tradition. But I'm not sure how widespread the innovation was before Europeans.
I have videos on the diagonal, Chevron, and lightning patterns. Is that what you mean by single weave? I really haven't seen many Chickasaw use beads but it isn't difficult to add them as you weave.
@@HandmadeTraditionsOK I mean like checkered or plaid/houndstooth type patterns. It might have been only the Cherokee doing that style
@@HandmadeTraditionsOK I don't know if you remember but you liked one of the belts I did on Instagram a pre contact double weave.
Thanks for the instruction. I'm going to look in the comments for Eps. 1 and 2, but is your loom a commercial product? If so where to buy?
I use a floor embroidery stand. I got it at Hobby Lobby years ago.
I wish your videos were up a year ago when I first tried finger weaving. They're by far the best resources I've found. Having both center threads start on the bottom is a subtlety that I haven't seen elsewhere, and hopefully that solves some of the problems I've had with my diamond belts.
Thank you, I enjoyed making them. Hopefully they help you.
Dear Mary, I've just discovered your tutorials and I am amazed of how beautiful the art of finger weaving is. Thank you so much for your generosity. I can't wait to watch the rest of your episodes. All the best. Carmen
Thank you Carmen. Please let me know if you have any questions as you go through. Keeping this wonderful art alive is a passion of mine.
@@HandmadeTraditionsOK Than you so much. I will do it. You are making a great service for our world. We all really need beauty, art and generosity. The way you contribute to them makes me feel hopeful about our humanity and inspires me too. May God bless you.
Very good closeups makes it easy to understand. Thank you. I want to start with small lengths for key chains. Should the key ring be used in place of head stick or is it added later. Never done finger weaving before.
Yes, just loop the yarn through the key ring.
@@HandmadeTraditionsOK Thank you.
great videos Thank you.
thank you.
Great video thank you for your videos very easy to follow you...
Really great instruction. So grateful for these videos.
I have found a few introductory finger weaving videos on youtube, but you are the first I've seen to truly explain the foundations of finger weaving and specific patterns. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos.
you are welcome I tried to record as if I'd never fingerwoven before and what did I need to know.
great video are you going to be showing how to do the Chevron and other patterns thank you
Hi Dwayne. I will have a video up for the Chevron pattern next weekend and have videos for the lightning and arrowhead soon after. At some point there will also be videos for the double lightning and diamond patterns, and hopefully the spider as well.
@@HandmadeTraditionsOK oh great can't wait thank you
