Hi, I don't see the replacement video you mentioned. Where can I find that?
Refresh my memory please.
I might as well sell the car before things get worse.
What's going on with it? "...things get worse.."
4 questions. 1) when doing this job what else do you recommend changing while working on this? 2) How do you recommend we label wiring? 3) any special tools you recommend prior to beginning? 4) I have the key ignition and no touchscreen 2014 model, will it be about the same steps?
HI @MrLexFlo. Sorry for the delayed response. Been remodeling a house to move into. It's been awhile so lemme dig into the memory banks best I can. 1) Heater Core, Evaporator, Blower Motor and All HVAC Door Actuators will be either removed to do this job or at least easily accessible. (Recirc, Temp, Mode) Of that list the Actuators are most likely to fail. Maybe the Blower Motor if the car has a lot of miles on it. Put 12 volts to the blower motor. Listen to it and feel it spin. Replace as necessary. 2) Most newer vehicles do not use the same Plug In Connectors. If they do they are certainly not within range of one another. If you happen to remove a wiring harness let it lay somewhere in it's natural shape/state. When you go put it back together you can ofter just lay it in it's approximate location and the Connectory just sort of find themselves. 3) Specialty Tools? Any mild sedative works just fine. Dosage to your liking. 4) Yeah it won't be much different. Wishing Success and some chemical JOY for the Journey! You're gna need it.
I will be doing this in a couple of days. Are you positive that I would be able to remove it by only removing the alternator? Or is required to remove the in take as well?
@@forestgump3977 It comes down to the upper thermostat stud that must be removed. Can’t get a torx socket on it. Use vise grips to grab the stud and back it out. It is only this way you can remove the thermostat housing without removing the intake manifold. Focus on this portion of the video.
I am in the process of taking my heater core out of my 2010 Ford fusion and your video has been of tremendous help. Nuff respect
@@yardeebossfarmsolutions Thanks my friend. I hope yours goes well. What a mess that job is. Thanks for appreciating the effort to record and post. I knew it was gna be a mess. I wanted to share for others out there. I appreciate the appreciation.
Thank you so much bro🙏🏿
My pleasure my friend. I hope it helped.
Why does everyone think the skinny iPhone view is great , it just sucks can’t see anything, Turn your phone back on
Hey Buddy. I"m a mechanic, not a Videographer. I used what I had, as far as video equipment, because I was certain there were folks out there that wanted to see something, even anything. My apologies. Like and Share. Maybe I'll make a buck on my efforts and can then afford better equipment. :)
Wished you’d shown taking it out but I’m just doing the dash
The actual removal of the Dash? Check out my other video. The LONG Version. It's in there.
Subbed, f this job.
What size socket?

That's for great video 📸
Thanks for watching it!!!
I have a 2016 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid that is needing an A/C Evaporator Core Replacement. I've searched all over for videos and there's just the prior gen 07'-12' but obviously this generation is an entirely new car. The Fusion is based on the MKZ.. so hopefully this helps! Also had a mechanic recommend changing the Heater Core also, since it's stacked ontop of the AC Core. I will be doing that!
We're there now on our 2016 Lincoln MKZ with the A/C Condenser. (Lots of videos on Fusions, but none on the MKZ). But we're going to go ahead and replace the Heat Condenser since it's piggy-backed onto each other. First there was this really pungent smell.. like when you go to the City Zoo and view the elephants.. yes, Dung! So we took it to Christian Bros Auto. and they did the A/C Test with dye to see if it was leaking on the supply line fastened to firewall, and it was. So they gave it to us ($798 later after tax) and it cooled fine for a week. Then we brought it back, and they recharged it.. only to warn that it might be the Condenser.. and asked if we were sittiing down when they read off the costs. $2200. Took to get a 2nd opinion and got quoted $1995. No other MKZ owner has had this issue apparently. We've posted about it weeks ago. Not a common problem, but obviously a common accurance? Insurance, or an Extended Warranty won't cover this. FML...
That’s crazy, I suspect my phantom coolant leak is the heater core for my 2013 fusion because my windshield fogs up and I can smell the coolant in my interior when idling. Although the two mechanic s I’ve been too can’t find the leak I suspect their sacred to preform this job lololol I am also now not as motivated to try to diy this either now it looks hard man thanks for the informative video regardless
Yeah its a big huge job. Are you near NW Ohio? I'll do it for you.
@@torquespec9345 I’m in saline mi, how much would you charge for a 2013 ford fusion heater core replacement
My left turn signals wont come on and my right turn signals are constantly on. I had to pull the fuse to turn it off. Do u think this can fix that issue?
I got a question how did you get that serpentine belt off? From the bottom or top?
Bottom. IYou may have to move a plastic stash shield to get to it more comfortably.
the video cut out at the hardest part, actually removing the stud and getting the housing pasted the manifold ... you are a hack
29:55-32:00. It seems you simply didn't watch long enough. I clearly show what I did to remove that stud. I hope this helps.
Thank you
Thanks for watching!!!
What did you do to loosen the nut since there’s no space for a socket or deep socket?
I'd like to help but I need more information. Which Nut?
@@torquespec9345 The one connected to the thermostat itself
@@KayXolani Yeah the actual removal of the Thermostat is headache. Remove the nut from the stud then remove the stud. The thermostat housing and the stud come out together. For further clarification please watch the video.
try a wrench? Open End if need be. There's a tool to do it. Watch the video to see what I did.
I seen one video where it looks like they took out the intake manifold to get to the alternator and thermostat was that necessary for you or no
What tools are used to remove the seat ?
T47 Front. T55 Rear
I guess second time is a charm ? 2 months ago I replaced the evaporator core in my 2016 Fusion, the job is not for the faint of heart. The worse part of the job to me is the removing of the doors, really a dumb design. I was able to just remove the clips on the cowl and remove the 2 bolts without taking the wiper arms off. The one take away I tool from the job, I would mark all the wiring harnesses better than I did. My 2016 is a Titanium and after the dash went back in there was one empty connector, I was worried about it but everything worked after, I think it was for the heated steering wheel, my car does not have that option. After watching a few videos on this, your method seems to be the right one, taking off most of the things you can before removal, like steering column and other stuff. I also replaced the heater core and blend door actuators when in there. I hopefully won't have to do another one, but if I did I definitely have it streamlined if needed. I may try another evaporator core in the future, but if its a ford model that requires door removal, no thanks. I think you did a great job on the video !
Awesome!!! It's a tough job for sure. Good Job!
Awsome!!!! Good job thanks...
I hope it helped!!!
Do you know if the dash can be removed without removing the evaporator case??? I only need to change the evaporator temperature sensor.
Hi @kevinoutdoors8504 Unfortunately, my friend, the heater box comes out with the dash. There is a "Dash Frame" (3/4" square tubing, guessing at the size) that "encases" the heater box. The entire assembly comes out on the floor then you remove the Dash Fascia, wiring harness, some more stupid duct work then the heater box can be separated from the square tubing frame. It's a stupid design. I'd put this engineer and the end of the line of all the other dumb ones. Line them all up then kick the square in the nuts. LOL
I"m tryin to think where that evaporator temperature sensor was. Hmmmmm. Refresh my memory? Here's the longer version. I show the Dash Assembly on the floor and disassembled. Maybe you can find the Temp Sensor in here some where and find some helpful information. Good Luck My Friend!!! th-cam.com/video/px8BQzfK1AA/w-d-xo.html
@@torquespec9345 thank you. Fixing to get started on this beast. Ugh. lol.
@@kevinoutdoors8504 You can do it!!!!!!!
So my blinker stops working randomly took it to the dealer ship they replaced my bcm still have the same problem my left rear blinker. You think changing this could fix that issue
Hey @calibruce7608. Based on your description there seems to be an intermittent break in the electrical circuit. As you suggest the Turn Signal Switch is certainly Suspect. It's also possible that there is some corrosion at the Bulb and Socket, Either Left Front and/or Left Rear causing this intermittent electrical issue. Check these before you spend the Big Bucks on this Turn Signal Switch. Most parts stores will not return an electrical part that has been installed. If it's not at the Bulb/Socket or the Turn Signal Switch it will be a break in the Wire Harness. Please let me know what you find. I'm always curious. Thanks for the Comment!!!!
you are an excellent teacher. Thank you for your help.
Thanks for the kind compliment @Naeemkhan-t2yf. I hope the video was helpful.
How many hours does it take to replace the switch assembly? My wipers wont turn off ive replaced relays and the fuse and it still stays on. Had to pull the fuse just to get it to stop on my 2012 charger.. HOW MANY HOURS DOES IT TAKE TO REPLACE THE SWITCH
Hi @marvinstanley514 The question is: "HOW MANY HOURS DOES IT TAKE TO REPLACE THE SWITCH?" ANSWER: It really doesn't take long. To better answer the question it would be helpful to watch the video then judge for yourself. You know what tools you have available. Your skill level. Lighting availability. Possible interruptions from the Wife, Kids or Customers and other factors. I did this one in less than an hour. I hope the video is helpful. It's quite a simple job. Just be aware of the battery and the air bag connections. If you can change the light bulb on your Range Hood you can do this job. I have confidence in YOU!!!! Please tell me how it went once you have it completed. I'm looking forward to hearing about it.
Excellent job!!
Thanks Gracie!!!
That helps me alot thank you and wait until you have to do the water pump the gear for the timing belt on the crank it floats buy the kit before doing it
Is it a Diamond Washer like on the 2.3 and 2.5? No Keyway on the Crank? I haven't done it yet on the 1.5T. What can you tell me? I have done the 2.3.
