Great video! That's a nice PC for the price. I have a 1060 6GB as well. Mine is paired with an i7 8700k and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. It's still a solid GPU going into 2024.
Thanks for watching! Yes, the GTX 1060 6gb is still a great GPU. You can find good deals on the used Intel 8th gen CPUs. They have great performance even for today.

Slate Digital has recently announced that the mic can be used without the iLok dongle!
Hey, great video! You mentioned the lens having trouble focusing on you while it was zoomed in at 70mm. I have had the same problem with this lens, and it happens while shooting video. If I go over 50mm, and the aperture becomes too narrow, it haunts a lot, sometimes even in broad daylight. If I am shooting indoors, the 105mm focal length becomes almost unusable because it can't achieve focus. Have you experienced similar things? Or should I get my lens checked?
Thanks for watching! I find the body doesn't do well focusing in closed down apertures past f6.3. If you are focusing on faces in decent lighting, it should perform very well. If the face is far away, it might hesitate a bit. You could try sending the lens in for maintenance/repair, or it might be better to invest in quality lenses. Hope this helps.

Yes, I recommend getting the preamp. The ID 14 from my experience, doesn't have much gain for these higher end microphones.

Was debating about this mic since it's on sale for $499 now, but requiring the iLok dongle was instant dealbreaker for me. It's bad enough having to juggle Waves Central, Toontrack Central, Native Instruments Central and then get an iLok Cloud account for some SSL Native plugins I got, but the hell am I buying a USB dongle for this nonsense. Bonus stupidity is that I see I have a freebie Slate plugin in my iLok Cloud list, so it's not like it's impossible.

Dude get it! I've had one since day 1 it is all they described. I know the ILok is a turn off but I also own other ILok related plugins so I'm using a ILok anyway.

Yes, unfortunately you need to use the iLok dongle to use the Slate Digital mic modeling plugins.
Would be good if you can do a review with the slate preamp and use the features the mic was meant for. I feel the testing conditions you described are extremely unfair for this mic. When you use the preamp and the mic emulators, there is a monumental difference.

I also have AT2035, and the sound is indeed brighter, which may be more suitable for female voices. So I use the cheaper AKG P120 more often to make my voice better.

Dongles are from hell, these things are not practical at all, nor is the cloud, which I never use. I don't trust it.

@@mrawesomeness123ism I bought the preamp that comes with it. But you could just try the mic with any audio interface first. If you want something simple and cheap, maybe a Focusrite 2i2. Or an Arturia Minifuse. I don’t know if you use instruments and want to record as well.

The front camera did not allow me to use 4k resolution. The back camera also did not allow me to use 4k resolution. The best I was able to get was 1836p. Its slightly higher than 2k resolution.
