Nice Chev. Very rare due to the amount of wood in the cab. Many got parked under a tree where they quickly rotted away to a pile of scrap metal within a few years. I'm amazed at the stories these old vehicles have had to survive in any form to present day. I have to say that fuel tank looks pretty dirty based on my brief glimpse (7:14). There is likely a thick layer of sludge inside that will continue to find it's way into the passages of the carb causing poor running and endless dismantling/cleaning of the fuel system. To stop this you can drain the tank and let it dry out for a month or two with the cap off to give the sludge a chance to dry to a brittle crust. Once dry it will break up by pounding on the removed tank with the flesh of your hand. I got nearly 3 pounds of crud out of one this year. Follow up with fresh gasoline and a stiff brush to loosen the remainder and rinse everything clean. Good luck with her.

I lived long enough to see people rediscovered the clutch pedal and it's secrets.

Meu pai em 1930 dirigiu um caminhão Chevrolet e dizia que a marcha era no pedal , todo apertado ( primeira marcha , no meio do curso , segunda marcha , todo solto " pris direta " terceira marcha ). A marcha a ré , eu não me lembro .

I had the good fortune to help restore a '29 Chevrolet just like yours, this one had a dump bed on it with an old hand crank setup to lift the bed. Now I bleed Chevy orange and what I thought was so neat about them is that almost every major component on the truck had a Bowtie cast into it. Great looking truck y'all have!

FYI.....unless you're pulling out a stubborn tree stump or have the truck loaded to maximum capacity, you don't need to start out in "compound low" every time you drive this truck. Lots of people unfamiliar with these truck 4-speeds think they drive like a conventional car 4-speed. That's not the case, so next time, just start in 2nd gear, and treat it like a 3-speed transmission.

thank you for the info. My dad had a 1930 Chevy truck. He sold it before us kids would drive. He did not want us to drive it. Wished I had it today, just like his 1949 ford 4dr 3speed with over drive.

Thanks for sharing. I'm restoring a 1928 Pontiac 4-door sedan (Canadian built, and Canadian restored) with the split six that it came with. It made my heart flutter to see the view out of the windscreen as you were driving it. I only drove my car a few times before completely disassembling it, so its been a while since I've enjoyed that view. I can't wait to see it again, there's nothing better!

Wow! Love it!! My Grandfather had a 27 Chevy 2 door it was same color blue! My Mom use to take us to the creek to swim and we had to ride back to grandads on the running boards cause we were wet!

I remember that blue color on the old trucks and cars still serving for folks in the mid 1940s and how that blue had faded to almost gray. We had a neighbor who still drove a model A Ford, mid '40s.

Not sure that I've heard the original Stove Bolt running , since I was a kid. Even with the updraft carburetor , it sounds just like the 216 CID engine.

I am repairing a 1926 Oldsmobile. It has never been restored only repaired . No front brakes only rear mechanical rear brakes. I a have been driving this car for 9 years .I would take it to work 3 days a week . I injoy this old girl more than driving my new truck. If it wasn't for that old iron we would still be using a horse and buggy. Denis from Santa Rosa CA. That old truck put a smile on my face.
