I always pick up a couple of nuggets when I watch your videos. I grew up riding 10 speeds. No problem. But I always noticed that I was using just 2 to 3 gears 90% of the time. I have a friend who has your 7 speed. I occasionally ride his bike. I find, just as when I was young, that I end up needing only one or two gears. A few seconds on the throttle to get going and then just peddle. Even up short, steep hills. Myself, I have a direct drive of one of your models. The chain did stretch and was popping off at about 3,000 miles, so I changed it. Have ridden 700 miles with the new chain and no problems. It's tight. Eighty percent of my rides are in PA 3 with vigorous peddling. Under those conditions, I average 18.5 mph, using 230-260 watts of power. I will say that if I lived in an area with longer, steeper hills, I would have opted for the 7 speed.

Interesting! If you were to build one of your batteries with extra hardware to give greater range, would your original charger be sufficient to give a proper charge, or would the upgraded battery need an upgraded charger? I don't know much about this, but I enjoy learning about it!

I have the Model R with the upgraded tech package and torque sensor. I have two issues with the bike that I think downgrading to the standard KT-LCD8H display would solve. I want all the throttle available all the time. Currently, the throttle max is limited by the level of pedal assist. Second, I want to activate walk assist. In the KT-LCD8H display, it looks like I can change parameter P3 to 1 to unlock the throttle and set C7 to 1 to enable walk assist. Is that possible? From your discussion in this video, it seems like the software with controlling logic is all in the display?

Nice review. I’m on my second ebike with cadence. I think that for me (old, big guy) I’m going to stick with cadence especially since I know how to use. My one complaint is that on a high watt motor I occasionally go faster than I want even on level 1. I don’t like to go too fast near pedestrians.

Sean, I have a couple comments and a question. I bought my bike locally, so when I need maintenance I pop over to the warehouse and drop off my bike. But for those who order from long distances and need maintenance, would people just try to find a good bike shop in their area to have maintenance done? Can they use parts that are not from EBC, or should they order parts from your warehouse and have them sent to them? There are two individuals for which I want to give a shout out. Ian is one. Nice guy and is willing to spend an extra minute to explain things. And Blake is another. Also a nice guy, and for those few times that I need to come in, he takes care of me. My last question is about batteries. You mentioned in the video that technology has reached a plateau of sorts. I've never actually seen the inside of a battery but am interested in how they work. Is it possible, with current technology, for EBC to make the same sized battery as my bike but with more range? At some point, I will be buying an EXTRA battery and was hoping to get one with more range. FYI, my battery currently does serve my needs. Thank you, sir.

Hi - yes my opinion it’s confusing - as we are pedaling - using 0-100% throttle and 6 levels of assist and terrain and weather - I feel 7 speed selection makes it so confusing as well as hectic maintenance and much higher chance of the chain coming off Hope this helps 🙏👍

Ninety-five percent of my single-geared rides are in PA 3 with brisk pedaling and no throttle on flatish surface. In that scenario, I average 18 mph and use about a third of the motor's power (around 250 W). For bursts up short, steep hills, I use PA 4 with throttle and hard pedaling. I have found that I RARELY have to use PA 5 in any riding scenario. As for my chain, around 3,000 miles of riding it stretched and was popping off and needed to be replaced. Just normal maintenance. Thank you, Sean, for putting out the info.

@@ElectricBikeCompany I have the niagra suspension fork. I've switched the seat from the jumbo, which added 2 inches, to a seat that I already had here. It is already slid down and back as far as I can get it.

switching to a rigid fork would definitely help lower it. @@WthrLdy

Hi we have a lot of 5'4 rides that are comfortable riding a 26inch bike and suspension fork, it's really personal preference. I would recommend go sit on a 24inch rigid fork bike to see how you like it. Visit us at 1510 Newport Blvd, Newport Beach. For other questions please call us at 949-264-4080@@WthrLdy
