Harley’s biggest competitor is the Side-by-side market. People are not buying new Harleys and then buying another brand motorcycle. They are buying other recreational vehicles. Typically side-by-sides, or pontoons, or boats, or campers.

Harley riders aren't buying a polaris in a chopper frame. Bike sales will start picking up as soon as interest rates start falling, but not for Harley until they get a new CEO.

Price. It’s the price. Even before the economy went to shit, the price has been prohibitive. And with Jochen’s plan, it’s just increasing margins vs increasing sales. It’s the pinnacle of “line the shareholders pockets at the cost of the brand” approaches. Like, yea, maybe your profit per bike has gone up but your units out the door has plummeted which means less people to buy parts, less people to buy mods, less people visiting service depts, less people buying merchandise. How do these people become CEOs with such a backwards mentality?

Congrats on getting monetized. I got monetized in December 2023. My first payout wasn’t until March 2024 and it was only $105. Next payout wasn’t in May for $160. But then in June.. it made almost $500 and starting in July I’ve made $700 per month consistently. So there’s definitely opportunity to make some additional passive income. I’m now over 2000 subs and my goal for 2025 is to double my subs to 4000, be more consistent with posting 1-2x per week, and to pay for my family’s vacation to Hawaii with solely TH-cam income. Anyway.. congrats again.

I have been a HD fan since 1988. Ive owned every major brand except BMW. i couldn't afford a HD till i was in my late 20s. They have never been cheap, it never will be unless they import or make the smaller bikes here. Personally i don't want a smaller bike right now. I have 2 RGs and a PA, all great bikes. You are correct on used bikes, thats the way id go right now. The M8 motor is outstanding, and with the bugs worked out of the Revolution motor, it makes nice power. As far as Indian, i doubt they are going anywhere, Polaris will keep them around. As far as stock vs modified, i change the seat, bars, and exhaust.

I'm from Hamburg, Germany, and we have the "Harley days" every summer. A massive three days festival with thousands of riders and visitors. The final act is a parade and the pavements are always packed with people cheering. You can see and feel that HD has its place within the German automotive culture. The 48 held top 20 spots in the overall sales list for nearly as long as it existed. Even top 10 spots at the peak of the modern classic / hipster era, when you either bought a R NineT or a 48. The 883 Iron wasn't far behind in terms of sales numbers. I doubt a classic Sportster is coming back. Nakeds and ADVs are the most popular type of motorcycles in Germany (and Europe in general). Everybody loved and wanted the Bronx. KTM don't sell that many 990 Dukes, but Ducatis new V2s will sell I feel. The Hornet 1000 will sale like hot cake. I don't think we'll see a Bronx. I've never seen a Nightster outside a dealership, even not at the Harley Days no joke. The PanAm is liked but not bought either. The Sportster S is the only RevMax that sells at least half decent. What can HD do with the RevMax platform? Make a "Super Hooligan" PanAm roadbike? I feel the slickest move modelwise would be: A swap of the Lowrider / Lowrider ST to the RevMax platform. While bringing back the Super Glide Sport / T-Sport on the Softail platform. What do you think?

That's a 105th anniversary numbered bike, and you want to take that away? I think your hitting the wrong bike for customizing in my opinion. I own a 105th 08 FlHX Streetglide. #963 I've punched it to a 106 and added many upgrades, but not the color of tins.

I currently own a 2014 FLD Switchback and it’s my favorite bike that I’ve ever owned. I bought it because I took a 7 day trip from Texas to Colorado and back, and I rode my dad’s FLD about half the time. I live in Hawaii and had to rent a bike (FLSTF) which I didn’t like as much. My dad is 5’10” and I’m 6’3”. It was totally comfortable for me and handled great on twisty roads at speed and cruising on the freeway. At the time I owned a 2007 FLSTN that was at my home in Hawaii. These are the bikes I’ve owned in order- ‘71 Yamaha XS-650, ‘73 Yamaha XS-750, Honda CB 900, ‘99 Sportster 1200, ‘07 Softail Deluxe, and now the ‘14 FLD Switchback which has the 103 motor. I don’t care what some other Harley guys think of it, or if they call it a baby Road King. My brother had a Road King and the FLD is twice the bike as far as I’m concerned.

Customizing a motorcycle has always been about setting it out different from the others, making it your own. Be cooler than your friends bike and having if fit you and making it your bike

I usually change the seat. I ride long distances. 12 hours a day is common. When I find the original seat is only good for an hour or two it has to go. No aftermarket seat available for my adventure bike so I made a seat. I add luggage racks so I can carry stuff. Sometimes when I take stuff off for service I leave it off if it is unnecessary. Mufflers get changed when the OE falls off.

I have the WG from that year. I did a similar build where I changed almost every single part and even deraked the frame lol. I’m looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. I agree that they missed the mark on the 105th bikes as the chrome washes out the copper and it looks bland AF! Once I blacked out every single bit of chrome the copper color came to life!

I've changed shed loads of parts on my 2007 Dyna Street Bob. My reasons? I don't want it to look like every other Dyna, I enjoy wrenching on my bikes, I like coming up with ideas to make the bike better. My 2003 Triumph Bonneville is the same, much modified and would be a rivet counters nightmare, nothing is standard! Oh, and I'm the wrong side of 67 so at the age where I couldn't give a shit what others think! lol Keep on modifying buddy! 🤣
