How do you figure it is Muay Thai and not Muay Boran? I did see the referee object to fighter (in the black trunks) from using Muay Boran Technique shown at 0:18 in 1st round. Other than that, it seems Boran "Traditional Muay"... But maybe you know more than I do and can care to explain how this is not Muay Boran and why it is Muay Thai.

@@Tiebox Why exactly would the ref object? it's just a cartwheel kick?? it's not an illegal move in literally any art dawg. They use *some* muay boran techinques, but 95% muay thai. Muay Boran contains wrestling, groundfighting, sweeps, takedowns, throws, joint manipulation & often uses more elbows than punches. Not even the stance here is muay boran, it is muay thai. They use muay boran stance slightly, for a split second at one point, but then never again. Using 1 or 2 techniques from muay boran does not make it a muay boran fight, they barely even clinch. There hasn't been a recorded, true muay boran fight for over 100 years & this is definitely not it. Muay Boran is extremely rare as it was replaced by muay thai, due to being too deadly & competitions had too many deaths, hence why muay thai was created. There is currently no documentation of a true muay boran fight. I actually practice both Muay Thai competetively, then Muay Boran(Muay Korat/Muay Chaiya) as a hobby, I have a book of the techniques, this is mostly muay thai & also muay thai rules as muay boran does not use a ref at all, since it's a deadly combat system, not made for sport like muay thai is. Edit: I also practice Krabikrabong, my main weapon being the Ngao(bladed staff), but i use a double edged spear instead of a single bladed weapon as i find it more versatile, but i also practice with the Daab & Lob combo(sword/roundshield), aswell as the Na Mai(small crossbow). Edit 2: There are also no headbutts in this vid, which is included in muay boran.

@@gauede2608 there are plenty of Muay Boran fights and they do use a ref. They used to use 2 refs. Yes, long ago there was no ref, and the rules were much fewer and if go back far enough, no rules at all. Biting, ground fighting just like todays MMA contests except no rules. But they literally have Muay Boran fights in nearly every single country around Thailand. Myanmar definitely has the most, probably with Laos being #2. I have seen them many times. If you want to see a Muay Boran fight, go to Myanmar (Burma) and ask around. Just make sure you have large group of people 9preferably a local with you / guide) and stay in populated area of Myanmar. Not a safe place for outsiders. People do not understand Muay very much. There are so many styles of Muay. Boran being the oldest. There is Boran, Muay Chaiya Muay Korat, Muay Lopburi, Muay Thasao. Muay Thai Boran was originally known simply as "muay". The addition of "Thai" was to differentiate the style from western boxing in the early 1900s. Muay "Boran" only recently became a term used to encompass the origins of Thai martial arts. It's not ancient like everyone thinks... It was started in villages and militarized in Myanmar after they invaded and defeated Thailand.

This is Muay Thai, not Muay Boran. No technique here is Muay Boran, it's only Muay Thai if you analyze it all. Muay Boran stance is completely different, they climb on eachother, groundfight, headbutt, sweep, throw, takedown etc etc. You get my point lol.

@@ghagzor Bro muay thai is one of the best fighting styles in the world, and muay boran being more hand to hand is even deadlier. Do some research. This aint no karate bullshit, mess with anyone who does muay thai and u gon end up with fractures.

MMA is sport UFC is organisation... First of all... Second of all MMA is actually more versatile than Muay Thai or Muay Boran which is ancient Thai Combat system that has been changed into Muay Thai trough centuries.... And MMA implement Muay Thai techniques also... So guys, please first do some research and studies, instead of spiting non-sense... I am fed up of this bs of non fighting shmoes trying to talk about something they have no idea about

Second of all Muay Boran isn't as effective as Muay Thai, because Muay Thai uses more swift and closed techniques than muay boran so muay thai leaves less openings and is more pressure intended...

@@nightscarens mate, just cuz someone does muay thai it dont mean they wouldnt fuck u up in the ground unless u do wrestling ir bjj, still yes muay thai may be more effective in distanced combat, but muay boran is specifically ment to be a close hand, elbow, knee combat, so good luck trying to bring a muay boran fighter with a fractured skull and a knee in ur ribs

They ban too many move in muay boran make it to muay thai :(, You can watch fight like this it call "lethwei". (RIP muay boran, RIP Bone breaker)

You can still see ancient techniques in Lethwei. Which is a close cousin to muay borang.
