Tatsuya Nakatani Bass and Gongs, Deep Tones for Peace 2020
มุมมอง 2064 ปีที่แล้ว
I am honored to premier my piece for solo Contrabass Bowed Gongs on Deep Tones for Peace, in a video captured on November 29, 2020 at my home in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. As an intensive "on the road avant-garde percussionist" for the past two decades, I have played/collaborated with countless famous/infamous bassists all over the world, and have been intrigued by the personal sound an...

Be careful with this advice. I too am having trouble finding kerosene other than the $12 a gallon stuff at Lowes and Walmart. I have a Toyokuni kerosene heater that I have had for 40 years. This morning I tried a 50-50 mix of ultra low sulfur diesel with kerosene plus a fuel treatment. The heater was slow to light and stank to high heaven. I let it go for only one minute and shut it down. The garage smelled like diesel. I emptied the tank and replaced it with my normal k1 which is red dyed. I wish I could find clear. It started slowly again as the diesel was still in the wick. It eventually started burning correctly. I will let it burn out completely this evening to clear the wick. This heater has been running 40 years on red dyed kerosene with very little odor. I have never changed the wick. Unfortunately, I will be changing to propane after this season. They raised the pump price again today to $7.30 a gallon. I am willing to buy the high priced clear k1 for my classic camp stoves, but not for the larger quantity I need to heat my garage. There are plenty of bad reviews for most of the propane heaters so I am not happy with my choices, but at least I can get propane at several places near me. It is so silly, many municipalities have banned kerosene heaters because there have been many fires with them. The cause 100% of the time? Idiots put gasoline in them. So now they force us to switch from a very safe fuel to using propane, which is a bomb waiting to explode.
Lowes sells 2.5 gallons for like... 33 bucks 😢
Diesel fuel will ruin the wick! Additives don't help in my testing.
thanks ! so nice !
Can you burn 100% alcohol in a kerosene heater?
Thank you!
Hi seen your video im going to try it im in Australia and in Gippsland can get very cold here and I also grew up with a kerosene heater. I know you can use diesel in the lanterns for light and works fine but in a heater it does play up after a while I haven't heard of that additives. I will look for it and try it. The kerosene is very expensive here aswell let us know how yours went incase I can't get that stuff cheers and thanks joey
Awesome!
Diesel with little less than quart of 91% and up isopropyl alcohol to 5 gallons. Works beautifully. No oder. No gases. Burns hotter. Burns longer. Half the price. I love this once I caught on. Its saving me 100s upon 100s every winter. And the heat is better quality .
Same wick or did u get cotton?
Yeah if you're gonna pay the price for jet Fuel to put in a heater. Yes, that's just retarded. But hey at least you was thinking😂😂😂
Jet A is a kerosene based paraffin fuel that is much cheaper than kerosene and works great in kerosene heaters.
Ya, 5 bucks a gallon at the local airport. Will the filler fit in a gas can opening? Do they make you have the blue kerosene cans?
@ You want to use the proper container. And $5 a gallon ($4.55 at my airport) is better than $15 a gallon at Home Depot. That’s a rip off. At my airport you can pay at the pump and no one really looks at the can you’re using since it’s self serve.
@privatepilot4064 10 bucks a gallon in the 5ers at tractor supply these days. Red diesel and isopropyl alcohol seems pretty cheap but just pouring diesel it stinks.
Most jet fuel is treated with Prist, a fuel additive. It doesnt smell nice when burned in a heater.
I keep my wick turned to low after starting . I start mine up on high . Burns too rich when left on high . You can also mix diesel with isopropyl alcohol too same as that additive. I only use kerosene. Never changed my wick . Use it every winter for the last 15 yrs in British Columbia Canada winters .
Love your voice! Cool accent!
Diesel fumes are very carcinogenic to inhale! Causes cancer!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
when it got cold last weekend, I used a kerosene heater with about an ounce of that fuel treatment for 1 gallon of gas station diesel and also 2-3 ounces of 99% rubbing alcohol. It DID produce black smoke, a lot actually on low flame. I wasnt paying close attention, then a few minutes later the room was full of smoke, so after I vented it all out, I found out the heater flame has to be extended all the way up to not produce smoke, not like K1 kerosene that you can adjust the flame to whatever you want almost. I have the same model as yours. Also, i've noticed it still does produce a tiny amount of smoke even with the flame cranked all the way up, but it's a very small amount. A small amount of fresh air coming in will be ok for that. For a garage, it's just fine. Im sure there is a fuel mix that would be ideal for this, we just have to find it out. Or they could just make kerosene easier to get at gas stations and we wouldnt have to do this lol
People say a pint of 91% isopropyl to 5 gal diesel runs clean
I love your pants...........are they traditional Japanese?
Let us know more about Japanese way! ✌️
As soon as you Started talking it made me smile
Tatsuya, this performance has brought me some peace today. I hope that many will hear it and peace will spread everywhere. Thank you for your music!
With the higher prices of diesel and electricity i'm thinking about it
I cut 50% diesel with 50% kerosene. It works fine and saves me a few bucks.
If you would close that overhead door the heater would do a much better job!
Kerosene k1 is the best way for indoor use and it's the only one that's recommended
It's also gotten stupid expensive. The cheapest gallon I've found was 15 bucks most gallons are between 20 and 30. Those prices would make using these to heat as expensive if not more than using space heaters.
@@azarelthecreator7098 YIKES! A gas station near me sells it for about $5.50/gal. My local Walmart has the prepackaged 1K for $11.50
No it isn’t…
Where are you? Torc?
Happy Winter Solstice 🎄✨🎇🎆🎇✨
Hey You sounds good where u at these days?
Ima musician how is the scene there these days?
Wonderful. Looking forward to seeing you play Denver on Thursday.
I only got 4 hours burn on my wick, by doing this, before the flame and heat went way down and the smoke became too strong. This isn't a good solution in my opinion, because the additive didn't solve the problem of destroying my wic.
Itneresting to see this van. Mines a 2002 without AC and its quite different. Does not have the big fan in front. Has the intercooler and the power steering line cooler only
Yeah but where's the science about whether all these chemicals are creating a poisonous biproduct when you burn it indoors then inhale and die and 2 years?
what an incredible sound!!
You need a Cotton Wick to burn Diesel, newer heaters use Fiberglass wicks & will clog quickly.
I use diesel . Got to mix with 91% to 99% isopropyl alcohol. About 1quart to 5 gallons is perfect. No issues . And yeah cotton wick but you can easily find them.
Ran 10 gal kero thru my used Aladden & all ok. Buy new wick just in case. Next tried diesel with additive on the used kero heater & wick crudded up 1st tank. Try burn off then try wire brush... nothing fix my wick. It burn about 15 min n die.... will do new wick n stick to kero or mix diesel kero 50/50 with additive.
The high paraffin content in the diesel fuel actually plugs up a little fibers that with the fuel up to the top so you run out of fuel after 15 minutes you should try going to walmart.com and see if you can order kerosene and have it shipped to the Walmart store and yes when you run diesel fuel or home heating fuel in a wet burner it is quite over it and sometimes sorry that’s probably what your headache is from I always used to light the heater outside give it 10 minutes to get up to temperature and then carefully carry it in without tripping the emergency shut off and do the same when you turn it off do it outside that’s the most odorous time
My trick is 1 ounce of isopropyl alcohol 100 percent, 1 ounce of acetone mixed with gallon of jet fuel A-1 is the ratio that I have been using for years and no problem with wick. Still the same one that came with kerosine heater. Works great and way cheaper than kerosine sold in stores. Ten dollars plus a gallon, real highway ROBERIE.
Buy at gas station for 1/2 the price
K One is 6 dollars a gallon. @@bobmeyers3478
great video and information, thanks for sharing
What you save in fuel cost by burning diesel in a kerosene heater you repay in wicks and wick maintenance.
If you put a pint of denatured alcohol in a five gallon container of diesel, it works great.
I agree with you. The problem is that sometimes you can't get kerosene. These solutions are good for those who cannot get kerosene.
@@antiglobaljoel532 Which kerosene heater do you have that you are doing this in because I’m really thinking about doing this but I don’t want to continuously clog up wicks and have to spend my weekends replacing wicks
I love my bow case. It has little hearts on it. This was fun to see. Your mom is cool.
Add a small amount of 90% isopropyl alcohol to your diesel and diesel additive.
Why not just get a berkey water purifier and avoid the getting water every few days
Stop diesel clogs the wick eventually won't work
You should also look into the propane top heaters! Pretty cost effective as long as you have a propane place close to where you live. Company by me only costs about $14 bucks to refill compared to the gas station $25 bucks to exchange and they don’t even fill the bottles up all the way!
When I tried this (with another additive) it worked great the first time. The second time it was not so good. The third time it smoked so bad we had to take it outside. The wick was ruined. I tried another additive but it did not work. I love my kerosene heater but kerosene is so scarce and when you do find it, it is expensive. I did not try this additive. It may be worth a try to try this additive. This would be much cheaper than kerosene.
I have always wanted to try diesel! Luckily I actually have a gas station that sells kerosene at the pump it’s $5.39 a gallon which is much cheaper than the stuff they sell at Walmart! And oddly enough the it has a very low odor the stuff from Walmart gives me a migraine
Ditto my experience
add rubbing alcohol to the diesel. it will burn much cleaner.
Nice to know. I will try that!!
That is a myth. Alcohol is never 100% there is water in it and it makes a foul smell.
Loooove! 💗💕
I liked this very much. Like drawing a figure 8 folding in on itself.
