I had some auto classes with Steve. He was so effortlessly intelligent. He was a volunteer then and was always dedicated to his service. So proud to see what he's become and so pleased that I had the chance to know him.

What are actually some of the daily duties and responsibilities of a fire fighter? I come from a different state so things may be different here but from what i know firefighters arent always fighting fires nessecarily so i just wanna know when im not in that heavy uniform blasting water at a fire or going in for a rescue then what would you guys be doing?

Good stuff Truck 10. I always looked for a cheaper plate glass window next to doors (less expensive to repair than the doors), just the downside is flow path like you mentioned and broken glass to deal with. Always fun working alongside SFD during high rise drills. (Roseville Truck 1-B, retired).

I saw this story for the first time, just a few minutes ago. As a mother with the relatable experience of losing my son, I am so impressed with Captain Joe Hunter's ability to move forward. Whole lotta BS in a job that demands people to be able to perform said job.. hire the weaker individual and guess what.. they CANT do their job so the other folks have to make up for it!! Sry Chief! Think about the money that is spent by a town fighting fires. The time it takes to get doors open to rescue victims and get interior fires extinguished. The increased costs to insurance companies for all the extra damage that wasted time can cause. The cost of fixing the front door when it is only needed for entry when the fire could be in the garage or other remote location. All commercial buildings have Knox Box by the entry doors. The fire department has a key to that box and the building entry key is inside it. Put a Knox Box at the front door of every residential structure. The town, the insurance companies and the homeowner could all chip in, and entry could take just seconds and with no damage.

How do you become a fire prevention officer? Is it the same requirements like a fire fighter?

20 years seems pretty liberal. In Massachusetts you can't retire with a full pension until you've worked at least 32 years. Congratulations, I wish that west coast philosophy would work it's way east.
