Do I need any permit or license to catch and keep tropical fish in kzn ?
So you don't need a liscence to own and keep a fish tank, but you do need one if you wish to go and collect fish in the wild
@RKFISHING what type of license do you you have , if I may ask ? And how much would that cost ?
Epic video 😎👏🏼
Nice fish good job man
Well done buddy what a way to start the year .beauty of a fish
So lekker to see those fish being released
Great stuff bud. What tackle did you catch the cracker on?
Howzit bud, so the gear used was an Assasin XH Spin 10ft rod, a Shimano Sienna 4000 with 20lb braid. I had light leader with no.1 Adrenaline circle hooks
@@RKFISHING Thanks Bud
Well done showing all the heavy tackle guys how to catch proper fish.
Well done. Awesome Fishing
Thanks man!
nice - you not throwing topwater lures for the grunter?
I have tried, no luck
@@RKFISHING ja, it's a patience game. Took me 2 years to get the hang of it. You need to twitch a couple of times and then let it lie/drift with the current. Grunter grabs it when it's still not when it's moving.
This looks like an awesome river. Whereabouts in the Eastern Cape is it? That would be an awesome place to flyfish 😊
Thanks 😊
Finally someone has done a video catching some of our local tropical marines well done bud as a fellow collector I hope you do more videos like these
Hey...what do you feed your butterflies?
Lobster eggs are the best
Thanks so much
Yo arw you from south africa?
Yes I am
Where are you ??? ( country and what side not location )
What lights are you using?
They are just called Marine Spacebars
@@RKFISHING Thank you, I want to get some of those for my soft and leather coral tank.
Where us this
Eastern Cape
Hello, where are you based? I'm in the Durban area, South Africa. I'm catching here fish as well.
Eastern Cape
@@RKFISHING Awesome, thank you.
Hi well done for the vid can u tell me what country that is in
South Africa
😍
Howzit where were these caught??
South africa?
You need to copper treat your fish before adding any thing to the fish tank
You should just do fish traps in the areas that you want to catch rare species of fish for your aquarium
I want to try that
nice channel im a new sub
Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy the videos.
jy praat Afrikaans
He sounds like it Lol
All I can think of is Nemo
Hiii Which beach in Pe do you find them at?
Have a look at any beach that has rock pools
@RKFISHING alrightyyy I'll definitely have a look Do you recommend any places to go for fresh water fish in Pe?
Sorry, I don't
What a shame. 😤😤😤
Hey...do you mind sharing the location of the beach ? Really enjoyed the video.
Heey i am a new subscriber broo🤙🤙
Thanks for subscribing! Hope you enjoy the videos!
G,day mate from Australia :) was watching your video collecting aquarium fish in a rock pool ..looks like you had a lot of fun ,yet it can be frustrating..collecting fish so young esp butterfly,s best to add co-pods to your tank b4 gives them something to pic at till they except food they eat that stuff in the wild as babys.. also some advise try to get the fish away from ledges ,,wait till there in a easy spot less stress on them ..i collect for my home aquarium here and ill post a link for you to see how i do it,,can have the same frustration even on scuba but its a lot of fun ..would like to see a update to your aquarium later enjoyed your video cheers :) my link th-cam.com/channels/QEDTxwjgrimtI01CL4aOIw.html
Thanks man, I'll go watch and drop a like
Baby chaetodons readily feed on an open mussel. I’ve caught thousand over the years and also own a commercial fish collection licence.
That's cool man
I went and watched all your vids, awsome stuff
@@RKFISHING glad u enjoyed them hope you subscribed as the season is about to start again so ill be out looking about :)
I used to find a cut off 2l coke bottle they were more willing to enter than a net . Knitting needles also worked well and jottke brushes. Catching them us 3/4 of the fun
Bottle brushes.....
2l bottle is the best
You must make a triangle net out of shade cloth only... trust me.
I understand teh guys are killing it in PE, water is warm and full of fish.... catch them all before teh cold water comes!!!
Also if you want to keep algae from shallow area its better to use light for planted aquariums rather than lights for reef tank.
Use a light with spectrum focused on the Red and blue spectrums of light. The chlorophyll of macro algae require specific spectrum of light in order to function. Not just any photons will work. Think 400-700nm wavelength. Lots of affordable and not so affordable options. Thanks for sharing the adventure! I would be out doing this everyday if I lived close enough to an ocean/reef.
@@sgbbco3981 no, close to the surface all light can reach the algae, so in addition to red and blue you do also need green for some specific type of algae. It is always best to replicate natural enviromment.
For such small fish its better to use traps
Not when your activity trying to c a catch them, wouldn’t make any sense
Hi guys. I am new to your channel. I have caught blacktail as a youngster, but nowadays primarily flyfish for freshwater species. I have caught some grunter and kob in estuaries and was curious to try for other saltwater species on fly. Blacktail cane to mind, hence me coming across your page. Is this something you guys have tried? I am curious to see whether they would take a fly 🤔
Well, I plan on giving it a go next time I head to catch blacktail. I am hoping to go try for grunter as well
Great video
Hey good video 🫶🏼 just a reminder don’t forget the tackle vid 🫶🏼
I haven't forgotten
So lucky just go out there and catch them
Epic spot!
It seems a little wanton to hurt a shark for fun
Lekka Ethan. !!
Also can u please do a video or comment on your tackle just bought a bg8000 cause of your videos and would love for you to share what lb braid and backing you use as well as your rod and trace ❤
Thats awesome bud, I will make a video soon
Howzit some videos keep up the good work
Lekker video
Expensive rods
😂😂😂😂
Amazing catch by the way well done 👏
Tackle used
Howzit bud, I used a Bluemarlin Super Slim paired with a daiwa BG8000 reel with 65lb braid
