เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 ธ.ค. 2022
I love fishing for Crappie and many other fish. It’s been a passion in my heart passed down by my great grandad and Uncle B since I was in diapers. Now with a family of my own, a wife of 10 years and a 4 year old, I want to capture these moments of my passion being passed down to them. Seeing the smile on Mommabear’s face and the screams of excitement from my boy is never less than a true blessing that fills my heart.

Catching YELLOW BASS, (Baby) ROCK BASS, and CRAPPIE at Norris Lake, using my favorite jig setup!
Today’s fishing adventure continues at Norris Lake, TN, using my go-to favorite jig setup for tight line fishing! After trying out a spot that didn’t produce any bites within an hour period, a familiar location had to be the choice to go fishing at again. Needless to say, IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! Caught tons of yellow bass, a few true striped bass (although very tiny), and a lone Crappie.
But, ontop of that, I WAS TRULY BLESSED ONCE AGAIN to come across a couple new friends from Michigan: Tim and his wife! After asking what’s good to use at Norris lake this time of the year, Tim was shown what setup I most of the time use when I go fishing at Norris and all other lakes near by. Having helped Tim with the info, he and his wife cooked up some delicious fish that I almost passed up, because of the fish slime and whatnot….. I couldn’t resist! It looked as good as it tasted. I can’t thank Tim enough for his generosity by bringing some fish they cooked up! As for Tim, the karma paid off for him, as he nabbed his very first Tennessee fish!! Yet again, I was blessed to get to take his picture with it, as well as seeing the smile from him and the joy of just being out in God’s Great Outdoors.
And yet again, I CANNOT THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH for the continuing growth and support for this fishing channel. I can’t say it enough how much you all mean to me. Seeing more folks come up to me just to say hi or even to as far as asking for what’s my best setup that could help them out in nabbing more crappie and other fish brings me so much joy. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYBODY!! May y’all’s cup be ever overflowing with blessings, and have a great day!

Fishing for HUGE CRAPPIE at Norris Lake, TN battling against a big wind & rain storm!

Before the heaviest of rain and wind came blowing over Norris Lake, TN, it was the best time to see how much I could fish in the storm off the bank before having to call it quits from getting too wet. This video is pretty much a carbon copy of the setup I used in the last video to catch the Crappie, but it’s been the only affective setup, in terms of bait and slip bobber rig setup, to catch the...

Today’s video was filmed on February 18, 2024 and shows how effective a MICRO JIG AND BOBBER setup can be for clear water Crappie! Later in the video, you’ll see just how similar the shad the fish chase after year round and the micro Bobby garla...

Clinch River Trout Fishing using Rooster Tail Spinners. (Short video)

Well gang, the video made wasn’t too much to write home about. But, there was a few fish that couldn’t resist the rooster tail spinner bait, despite it really not being the best bait to use today. Nice crappies
What is the name of your rod
Shakespeare micro series I bought from Walmart.
What part of Norris do you do your fishing? Clinch or Powell?
Mainly the Clinch side. But I’ve started fishing the Powell side to explore what’s over that area, but I haven’t had any good videos to put together fishing the Powell, yet.
I’m at a campground close to the clinch side but I’m on the Powell side there’s really good crappie fishing up the river
Hey buddy praying for your family, awesome video
Thank you for the prayers, friend! And thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video. Wasn’t too much action to start off with, but after the bass tournament fishermen left the bite slowly started to pick up, as you seen. Have a blessed one bud! 🤙🏼
How about not manhandling the fish... I mean I'm not much of a preservationist but good grief show a little respect.
I bet you have protests at every bass tournament gathering you see, then. Haha! Cmon bud. This guy handled that small mouth about as gently as any angler could.
Handled it respectfully.
Obviously you don’t know anything about fishing!!
I love this. My Tenn. kinsman called these fish "crappies", but here inSouth Georgia, we always called 'em "specks" (short for speckled perch). They get in the 2lb class down here.
The best name I have heard anybody call them is ‘DINNER’. 😂 that’s some good eating pulling in some 2 lb slabs. 🤙🏼
Yellow perch is second to none
It’s always a toss up between yellow perch and crappie. Haha! All of ‘em some delicious eating fish, regardless. 🤙🏼
Glad to see plàin&simple fishing for a change! Thank you and tight lines!!
I appreciate you tuning in and enjoying watching the content! Simplicity is all it takes, most of the time, to catch dinner for the family. 🤙🏼
Thank you for the shout out, buddy! I’ve shared your page with all my buddies and I know I really enjoy watching. You’re awesome and I’m super glad I got to meet ya! I’m sure I’ll catch you out there again soon!
It’s a pleasure to get to meet you bud, and I can’t thank you enough for the support sharing my page to all of your friends! I’ll be all over the place for the next few months, so we’re bound to come across each other again. Keep them lines tight bud! 🤙🏼
Awesome fishing bro! Enjoyed the fishing trip and always fun to watch. Have a great week bro. 🙏👊💯
Great profile pics of them slabs, Domingo! And, thanks for watching my video, friend! I’ll be in Ohio this weekend fishing for Crappie and walleye with a good friend of mine that lives there. I hope to bring you some awesome footage from that trip, too. Take care bud! 🤙🏼
No use for slip bobber if you’re only running 2’
I only used that setup, because of a fishing trip prior where I was fishing it 6-10 feet deep. Plus, it’s a neat setup I wanted to share, regardless of the depth you’re fishing in. Thanks for watching my video! 🤙🏼
Wow. Did you see that gator?
Your hallucinations is a direct result from working too much. You need a vacation, sir. Haha!
Don' ya know it@@CrappieKev
What's the point of using the net?
Is hard to tell if the jigs got a good hook set, until you pull ‘em in. I’ve lost too many fish where they’re just a couple feet from being pulled in. It’s also a peace of mind when I’m fishing to bring fish home. The beauty of fishing is there’s no wrong way to fish, except when you’re doing it illegally.
They are called paper mouths for a reason 🤦🏾🤷🏾better safe than sorry
I was fishing for crappie and I caught a 20lb Flat head catfish on a Crappie jig
Now I know that had to of been a heck of a fight! 🤙🏼
Where do you get your lures at?
I get most of mine at Academy Sports and Outdoors. There’s some that I get out of Big Fish Outfiiters when I travel over to melton hill dam. I hardly buy anything out of Bass Pro Shops, truly. Lol
@@CrappieKev thanks buddy!
Almost positive I ran into you fishing here yesterday!
Was that you with the live minnows?
@@CrappieKevsure was!
Heck yeah bud!! Good to see ya out fishing! Sorry I didn’t know that was you. I didn’t think to bring my camera or record anything, just because I was wanting to get out and relax. But the fishing yesterday wasn’t the greatest, either. Haha! Did you end up having to talk to the Game Warden before you left?
Great Job!!!! Looks like a Blast!!!
It sure was! I was bracing for a tornado to come take us all out with how strong that wind was. Haha!! Thanks for watching, friend! 🤙🏼
Is that on the back side of big ridge?
Hello Kev, that was a great video I learned from that footage thank u 4 sharing that why do u use a smaller jighead and does the split shot help with your casting distance thank u James H
Hey James! Thank you for stumbling across this video and enjoying it! So to answer your questions: *The smaller jighead to use for these crappie is simply to match the size of the shad the crappie are going after. When I was using a 1/32nd oz jighead with a 2 inch Bobby garland, I wasn’t getting any hits at all. It was crazy, because the color was exactly the same! A couple weeks back I put up a video that shows exactly what shad they were going after. It was evident that the shad they were feeding on weren’t any bigger than that. When you use a smaller jighead, bend that hook to where the point is facing over the eyelet to allow you a higher chance to hook into huge crappie. *The split shot does help cast further distance, despite how small it is. More weight = more distance, no matter how small the size is. But! What helps cast farther distances with tiny setups is the fishing rod. It’s a 7’ light action rod, where the tip barely holds firm enough to when you whip that rod towards where you want your bait to go, it helps sling that line out in a whiplash affect.
GBO!!!!
That’s right buddy! 🎶 Good Ole Rocky Top WOOOH Rocky Top, TN!! 🎶
Kev if you ever want to meet up somewhere on Norris holler at me. I would be glad to fish with ya sometime. Great video pal.
Thanks bud! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I’ll be out on my little bass tracker boat from time to time. I don’t fish Norris much, to be honest with you. But, within the next month, I’ll be putting in at Anderson County Park to target smallmouth in the evening and walleye at night. If you see a guy in the middle of the night throwing a cast net within that swimming area, it’s most likely me. Haha! If you’re there, come onboard bud! 🤙🏼
Catching crappie in crappie weather! My kind of fisherman!!
I’ve caught the best sized Crappie, thus far, fishing in that rain. Haha! I was drenched, but I had a ball, buddy! Thanks for tuning in and watching my video! God bless you, friend! 🤙🏼
Thanks for sharing fishing trip! Some serious fishing there! Be safe brother!!🙏🙏💯💯🐟🐟
Thanks bud! I’ve always heard people say the fish bite best when it rains, so I had to put it to the test. Haha! I hate I couldn’t get any other type of fishing rig and technique to work here lately. But this has been the only setup and technique that’s been working on Norris Lake for me for the last few weeks now. Thanks for stopping by and watching my friend! See you later Domingo! 🤙🏼
True dedicated fisherman right there. Hope you get more videos out before you catch pneumonia. Good stuff. Seriously, don't get yourself sick just to make a video. We can wait until it stops raining.
Thanks for the positive feedback bud! Yeah, it don’t take much for that rain to get you sick if you stay in it long enough. I suppose working in the rain in all my years delivering Mayfield and Weigel’s milk has helped me get used to being cold and wet. Not that it doesn’t make me sick, because it does from time to time. But, I’m used to it now, I guess. Haha! Thanks for stopping by and watching my video friend! You take it easy and God bless! 🤙🏼
Cool video 😎. Appreciate the tips and details regarding your setup. I copied your setup but haven’t fished Norris before. I used Google Earth and picked a spot 15 min away from home. Packed up after an hour without a bite and drove 30 min to another random spot. Nothing there either. Not gonna lie, pretty discouraging. Was determined to catch something, so I came home and caught bluegill and bass in my pond 🙃. But thanks for roughing the weather for us to watch!
I’m sorry the luck hasn’t been on your side with that setup bud! I’m sure you know how Norris Lake is, though. When you’re hot, YOU’RE HOT! And when you’re not, YOU’RE REALLY REALLY NOT!!!! The location I’ve caught them out of is relatively flat and muddy bottom. There’s not a distinct creek channel that flows into that spot. So it’s pretty much a massive pocket of shallow water for the bait fish to get trapped in. If you can find a body of water going up into a large size pocket, regardless if there’s a creek channel in it or not, with relatively shallow and muddy bottom with a couple brush piles in the depths, you might be able to locate the Crappie that way. Where there’s warmer water, there’s more bait fish. Give it about another week or two with these unseasonably warm temps, and you’ll see the Crappie start to scatter across the tops of the waters. More-less their average depth they’ll suspend in will be about 2 feet under the surface.
Thanks for taking the time to reply with that detailed info. I’ll definitely keep that in mind when I give it another shot.
@@spookiehyperbole7510yeah bud, no problem! Lords blessed me too much in my life to not help others out. I may not give out exact locations of where I’ve been fishing at, but for the most part, I’ve had these techniques work in all places across Norris, Melton Hill, Watts Bar, Fort Loudon, and Tellico Lake. And when it gets warm, the lower river systems and creeks that feed into them are dynamite locations! 🤙🏼
I always thought it was funny that people on the banks of the water would constantly cast out to where the boats were and people in boats always cast to where the banks are. Thanks for making the videos. Any day watching people fish is better than a work day.
That’s always been a funny fact of fishing! Haha. Sorry for the bad audio from the rain and wind. I tried my best to make it where everybody could understand what I was saying. Thanks for watching bud! 🤙🏼
@@CrappieKev It's real, down to Earth type of videos like this that I like. You can't control the weather.....or can you??
😂 I mean 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ Maybe. Maybe not? Nobody may never know…
Nice
Thanks for helping me out brother. I was struggle bussing it trying to get a picture of that thing in my yak. 😂
I couldn’t be happier to help take that picture of you and that huge fish you caught! I’ll keep my eye out for you when I go back fishing to see if you need some help again. Haha! Have a great day and keep them lines tight, amigo! 🤙🏼
Why will you need a fish net and you standing on the bank
Micro jigs sometimes doesn’t have good hook sets in their mouths. Sometimes the moment you pull the fish out of the water, the full weight can cause that hook to fly out of its mouth. Sometimes I can see if the hooks set good and will pull them out. The times I don’t, I grab the dip net. Plus, I use 4 lb test line. That tension could pop the line as well. Better safe than sorry when you intend to bring fish home.
Absolutely!!
😂
Whaaat!😮
Crappie "Kev," this is my first video of your's that I watched. But I promise you it's not my last, I really enjoyed watching you, and watching you snag those Crappies out. Three thumbs up, from Murdoc, in Columbus OHIO. And twenty more for even having the courage of speaking of our Lord And Savior. I know some feel this is not the platform for it, but a few like you. Have no problem, not realizing, that if "not" for him. None of us would even have the chance to even Hook'em. Until the next time 🙏🏾🙏🏾🪽🪽💯👊🏾
Amen to that, my friend! I appreciate all the thumbs up from you bud! But all these good things I’ve been able to experience when fishing couldn’t be possible without Him. To be able to have fun making these videos of this sport he’s allowed me to enjoy is never short of a blessing. My cup is always overflowing thanks to Him, when I don’t deserve it. But he loves us so much that when we put all our faith and love in Christ, our cups always overflowing. Thank you so much for finding my channel and enjoying the content bud! Buddy I sure appreciate you tagging along with me! Always a pleasure seeing your name pop up when you comment. Have a great day bud! 🤙🏼
Deadly setup for those slabs.
It never ceases to amaze me how micro jigs and grubs as such can help catch HUGE Crappie with the right modifications like that.
I bet Uncle Brent said.. “Why didn’t you tell me you were going fishing today?” 😂… 👍🏿
Well…. You’re not wrong. Haha! He showed up, looked at Ole Red with all the fish in it and said “you little sh… stinker.” 🤣😂
You wore them out brother! I got get over to Norris and fish.
Buddy it was a great day of fishing! The bite will be hot from here on out ‘til they spawn. Then they’ll go a little deeper each week the water temps warm up more and more. Caught a limit worth within an hour. The rest of the time I didn’t have the camera on after catching a limit I was still catching keeper after keeper. Truly was a blessing!
Definitely blessed! Im on Cherokee lake, crappie fishing has progressively gotten worse the past 4 years.
Oh no! I didn’t know Cherokee’s been declining. I have never fished for Crappie at Cherokee, but I’ve always assumed it was a good Crappie fishing lake. Regardless of the fishing status in that lake, I hope you get out and catch all the crappie you can my friend!
I live on Norris and can never find crappie I always have to travel to melton hill I don’t want to steal your spot but roughly where is this I think I live on the wrong end of Norris😂
If you live in the Sharps Chapel area, there’s been some luck out of Stiners Woods area a few years back for me, but it’s a little late for the Crappie to wonder into those backcreeks for now. You may get lucky catching a couple here and there, but if the shad isn’t in the pockets around Stiners Woods, I wouldn’t waste time there.
what kinda rod is that?
It’s a Bass Pro Shops ‘Dough Bait’ 6 ft rod, ultra lite, fast action. The rod and reel combo was cheap when I bought it. It only costed $30. But it’s actually a decent working fishing rod and reel for the price! 🤙🏼
Too much talk not enough fishing
My hope is you read in my description all of the time stamps of when I caught the fish to avoid any time you didn’t want to waste listening to me talk in the long moments I wasn’t catching fish. Nevertheless, thank you for your time watching my video. Maybe some of my shorter fishing videos will suit to your liking better. 🤙🏼
Man if you ever want to fish the upper end of the clinch up towards Tazewell let me know. I don’t mind one bit to fish with ya. Or I could show you a Crappie spot or two in Powell Valley.
Sounds like a good plan bud! I’m about to start fishing Norris lake again now that the weathers getting a little warmer than average. My hope is the crappie will start to migrate towards the shallow area again like they did last year, and catch the heck out of them feeding off shallow water shad. Thanks for watching my video bud! 🤙🏼
@@CrappieKev I mainly fish the area around Powell Valley Marina. I haven’t fished any further south than that. But I’ve caught some very good crappie in that area.
Why so many excuses to keep what you catch as long as it's legal? People are gonna ridicule others who catch fish when they're not anyways. Nice vid👍🏿
Thanks for the positive vibes bud! Yeah, some people complain when a fisherman culls crappie and other fish, despite that it’s perfectly legal to do so here. I don’t really worry about what people have to say that’s negative, when nothing wrong has been done. I keep fish past a certain length, just for my own sake of peace of mind. To each is their own, as long as it’s legal (like you said) is my philosophy. Thanks again for watching bud! 🤙🏼
I've watched quite a "few" of Crappie Video's. And "none" and no one, has flat out lied to us. I sat through the whole thing, waiting on you to start snatching them in. And unless I "blinked" to quick, and missed it. Ma Man, you never even got a "NIBBLE"!!! So I have written your You Tube name down on my pad. To make sure I don't waste my time again. Well bud, I guess you better check again, because you missed ‘em. I even have in the description of the times I caught fish. If you didn’t see any fish I caught in this video, I feel sorry for you.
Slightly bend your hook up to help with sticking them.
Oh believe me, that’s exactly what I do anytime I’m fishing with jigs and underspins. I already had these jigs on from the last fishing trip, so I never bothered to mention about how I bend my hooks. Lol. Thanks for watching my video bud!! 🤙🏼

Hey Kev where do you normally launch from I launch out of Solway all the time wonder if your up this way or further down can’t believe I haven’t seen you being I fish these days also. Love you videos
Buddy I sure do appreciate the kind words! Really glad you’re enjoying the videos and I’m hoping this thaw out will allow me to go out fishing this Wednesday. I normally launch from melton hill dam or carbide park when I go to melton hill. A lot of times when I launch in the kayak, I’ll go out where the oak ridge rowing club is just above bull run steam plant and fish some deep pockets. Even launch at bull run creek and fish those docks and some deep pockets through that creek channel, too. There’s a couple pockets at solway bridge going down stream that I’ve hit up a few times last year where I got into some shell cracker and big ole bluegills! I didn’t have a video of them, but Shellcracker is another delicious fish I like to go for once in a blue moon. 🤙🏼
@@CrappieKev appreciate it brother cool to see someone making content on my home water hopefully I run into you one day. Appreciate the advice brother!
I’ve Crappie fished for over 60 years. If you’d nose that boat up in those limbs and tie off to one and fish straight down you’d do much better. You’re not gonna scare them off!! Done it a thousand times. Many times I’ve been idling around and thumped a big stump, restarted the motor, turned around and fished the stump and would catch one or more nice crappie.
I did briefly thought about that after I got into that pile of crappie. Only reason I didn’t do it was because of how clear that water was. I was too afraid to spook them just by them seeing me. But one thing I agree with you is the motor noise doesn’t really affect their bite. They hear boats go by all the time. To them, it’s almost natural to hear boat noises, so they aren’t as skittish about that than other fish would be. Thanks for watching, by the way! Hope you’ve been safe and warm amongst all these winter storms and clippers coming through. 🤙🏼
Sweet. I was float tubing a 100 yo flooded open pit mine I Illinois and I came across a river otter. How the hell he got in there I haven't a clue. He was not happy I was there. I happen 6.34 large mouth that day. It was a place called
River otters are really cool to see…. Until you remember you’re fishing and that amongst a muskrat and beavers are huge fish scarers. Haha!
