The two distinctions are more like this... Flats Boat (skiff) and Bay Boat. The Bay Boat has the top and is for deeper water than the Skiff (Tech Poling Skiff). The skiff is intended for skinny water so we are talking around a foot or so deep. The Bay Boat is just as it sounds. It requires deeper water, but not really intended for miles and miles off shore unless you are looking for trouble. The two look vary similar except for the top and higher hull (sides of the boat). The skiff trades a top for it's poling platform. They mentioned affordable and they can be but the best makers of these boats charge anywhere from 50k to 100k. Hardly an introductory cost into boating.

It's the absolute pinnacle of spearfishing achievement to find, shoot and land a tuna, moreso bluefin tuna. Big gamefish, top table fish. Spearing a tuna over 350 kg would not be worthwhile, lost gear and lost injured fish. RMY

Very helpful video, thank you. I'm on the York River near Mobjack Bay and the Chesapeake Bay and trying to determine if a flats boat like yours will be a good fit for fly fishing and these waters.
