Actually and sorry for the 4 month long response back to you. The window does open and close without falling out as the manufacturer told us it would. It created a nice cross wind of ventilation for us during the cooler months.

We do not homeschool at the moment. Going back to the American White Picket Fence Dream "Aka Apartment Living," has forced us in a different direction. We believe in homeschooling more than public education, but it's not conducive for our current circumstances. Lord Willing, the kids will be homeschooled again in the next couple of years. That's what happens when you go back to the old way of doing things.

Thanks for commenting. Yeah, we figured that out after we went to an RV show - and a GDRV rep told us we could open it. We open it all the time now with no issues.

We did. No issue. Until I tried to fix the rear differential on my own. I did everything right, except for tightening down the rod that goes from the transmission into the rear differential. Thankfully, it ripped out without the trailer attached and us going around 25-35 miles per hour. Had the trailer been on and we lost our rear differential, it could have been deadly. Thankful that God was watching on that day and protect everyone including my two little ones in the car.

I am good now. We sold our first camper GD 2970RL and now have a GD 390rk-r 5th Wheel. Funny how you will learn the fast and hard way how to do things. Thanks for your reply.@@Four2Tour

You can connect with us more by visiting: patreon.com/four2tour - but to answer your question, we use the current bedding that came with our unit or as my wife calls it the "thin mat." Now it's lasted us about 12 months and we are thinking about upgrading those mats soon, but the kids aren't complaining yet, so hopefully this helps. My kids also sleep on the bare floor like I do sometimes, so they can handle that material.

I still cannot get sheets on our murphy or the bunks. I have severe arthritis so climbing around is hard. I tried all sorts of things on the murphy. A real wrestling match! The bunks i cannot safely get in or out, so used a long handle and laid sheets and a sleeping bag on. We use the bottom for some storage, mostly. I use ropes and mop or a cane to manuver what we want. I did get what they call mattresses, but i call toppers for all 3 beds, but the bunks are not standard full as I was told, so though i ordered twice, they are still too wide. Somehow, I will have to get them out and trim them and put them back! I could have sold movie rights to just getting them onto the bunks! If i could just get into the bunks safely, i could use a box cutter to trim, i think. They have a nice zipper cover. They are like lying on a cloud! We will have our first sleep tomorrow night! I ordered them from Costco. They came for the return..ha-ha! Once unwrapped, that's it! You cannot get that genie back in the bottle! They said they would get back with me, but never did. I can barely get the bathroom door opened! Another I Love Lucy episode!

We weren't good at it in the beginning but it soon became our favorite way to spend overnights for free. Having a generator goes a long way in make you have to survive in the heat vs. having access to generated power and cooling while you boondock :)

Rving was cheap in the beginning. We paid cash for our truck, but after the RAM lost it's rear differential we were forced during covid to upgrade to the next available car, being that dealerships had none at the time, so we purchased our used Ford F-250 and our relatively small monthly living expenses went from being easy to manage to now owning a truck that cost $888.08 per month. We finally paid to get out of that truck and no longer have it, but it was tough for a few months while we did have it.

He's just meticulous like that. Bleach and thinks all pieces of wood should be saved, because you never know when you're gonna need some; like in our instances. It felt like I was an Egyptian using wood that looked older than me. Make a long story short, our rear differential feel apart, because we didn't tighten the shaft back down to factory torques. Massive lesson learned. It ripped our hard work apart and we wind up having to say goodbye to this truck sadly.

Hi Bev, It's Mike. My comment was more driven to the fact that we aren't tied down to a lease or have a mortgage. Yes we have a payment and yes you need those items above to survive. But if something doesn't work out for us, we can pick up and drive the rig anywhere we want. It's the main reason why we purchased an RV. Not just for the fact that we've always wanted to experience the lifestyle, but because we've moved a lot over the past 5 years that we didn't want to put down roots, until we know we are planning on staying somewhere longer than 8 years.

As of right now and this could change, but I've resigned my contract to come back next year and teach one more year, but by Summer 2020, we're pushing north out of the state of Florida, wherever God leads us. I'm planning on entering ministry then...

Thank you for subscribing. We aren't full-time traveling RVers, but we are talking about moving out of state again. I just moved down here for a job, but we are looking forward to hitting the road by Summer 2021. But also being a teacher I get, 1 week off during Thanksgiving, 2 Weeks for Winter Break, 1 Week Spring Break and almost 2 months for Summer Break. This kind of work schedule allows us to travel more, so during 2020 Summer Break, we will be launching into Season 2 and sharing our adventures out of state this year. We are hitting the road on May 29th to start making our way out of state.

Our rig came with one from the manufacturer. You could try checking with your manufacturer, or what we have seen some people do is to make a custom cut out of a cutting board safe material...or whatever surface you need/want.

Ours came from the dealership we purchased our unit from.
