Excellent! Florence Reece was my grandmother. My mother was Omia Reece. She told me the horrible details when Sheriff Blair’s men broke in and what they said to her. It traumatized her for the rest of her life. My grandmother was so angry at the threats to her children that she wrote the song.

Hey Peter. I lived in Japan from 1954-1956. My stepfather was in the Army doing post-war things. My sister and I went to dependent schools. We lived in three places. The first, Fujisawa, had no other westerners. We went to street festivals and folk danced along with the crowd. We learned Japanese from the maids and played stone, paper, scissor (yam, ken,foi!) in Japanese. I loved the beautiful bonsai-style trees. Weren't we lucky?

I spent some time in this man's company and he is a genuine person to the core. We were performing and teaching at the same weekend gathering called The Folk College, a summer workshop weekend at then known as Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He made the weekend shine for me like no other.
