I just heard this for the first time today on spotify --- 2/2/24. I have never heard of this band before but i do know the Steppenwolf and the Blind Melon versions. Jesus Christ. this is just raw. Like open wound, rub some dirt in it raw. Fuck! Shit! Gotdamn! Rivals the Blind Melon version and may even be better. Holy carp, this fish is the shark!.. I came here looking for a live version of this song and was amazed that it was a video of an empty club with a headliners equipment ready to play. ho. leee. shiiiit. This is sick.

Gotta give to them the band does sound solid! Jahleel Eli is my musical and life mentor and I can concur with what he’s saying about how he was treated by those guys. It wasn’t right and I do have my feelings about it. I also played bass with Morris. But it is good to see them still playing and sounding better as a unit. Memphis does breed some amazingly talented musicians, despite the scene having its issues and things I didn’t agree with while I was there. I did learn a lot there as well though.

Sounds good! Frank Montaleone (guitarist) finally learned how to play to/with the solid timekeeping of a drummer who does not rush the beat, PLUS his guitar tone is MUCH cleaner than it was back a few years ago when I played drums for Morris & this unit! I tip my cap to Montaleone for cleaning up & pacing better. Cecil sounds solid as usual & I ALWAYS enjoyed groovin' with him within the rhythm section AND Morris IS Morris on that "lick" & does what he does!!! He (Morris) was like an extended family member to me because of the blues bloodline I came from; he was like an extension of the elders on my mother's side & I deeply regret the way he treated me like a throwaway due to my differences with Frank! Nonetheless, THE BEST blues players on this planet will always hail from Memphis (my hometown) 🌟🌟🌟
