    Now why is it that euphoniums are the most beautiful sounding instrument in the band? And its not because I play one, I'm perfectly objective!

    Is it just me or is the conductor really distracting and off the tempo the soloists are giving?

      It's up to the soloist(s) to follow the conductor's lead in that kind of piece. If they want a different tempo, they need to speak to the conductor about it beforehand.
