As a Harland & Wolff built ship she is probably good for another half s century The Dunotter Castle built by H & W in 1936 was finally scrapped after 66 years at sea and HMS Belfast still afloat after 83 years with less than 5% hull corrosion -price is what you pay but value is what you get !!!
Had a big family holiday in WALES and we stumbled across this old Ferry. It was being run as a business as a bar and entertainment venue in the 80s ! But it was a good idea i think but it didn't seem to attract the numbers to make it profitable ....Shame as she was in good shape in the early 80s. Could have run it as a Hotel maybe !
Lovely view moved to Eastham in 2016 originally from Prenton, lived in Toxteth then moved back to Wirral in Eastham. Love the area, gorgeous village x

Visit this grounded ship a few times,, so symbolic for Gr Britain nowadays.

Did the beach walk from Thurstaston to Heswall (Sheldrakes) and back along the Wirral way last week. Had a lovely lunch from Flissy’s Coffee shop at Thurstaston ☕️🥯🧁
Its a shame its been left to go to ruin like this, there needs to be a campaign to get the ship restored and possibly floating again. It doesnt do the ship justice just to leave it dry dock to rot.

thos stone settlent in old english and norse it was accredited by norwegian gov in seventies into viking sagas so much viking history on wirral tranmers and tinwall etc etc

The Ship was known as the Fun Ship, it was raised out of the water to overcome planning restrictions which would not allow any tourist attractions on the water or to be built in the area, as the ship was not on the water or a permanent dwelling the owners got around by laws. It was very popular in its day and people travelled for many miles to see ,sad to see it now, it was usually painted all white every year.

This ship is in North Wales and not the Wirral.

@@davejohnson5847 Depending on where you are coming from heading towards North Wales could easily mean stopping on the Wirral before you get to North Wales. The heading on the video is confusing.

Maybe a bit of information about how and why the ship was moored there instead of just drone footage and music
Do you not have the internet your self?. My life some folk want everything done for them these days. But here some rough info for you. Built at Harland and Wolff which makes this ship of some significance as we all know Titanic was also built there. Built 1955,,,Service 1955 to 1963 BTC. 1963 to 1979 Sealink. 1979 to now Empire wise. I think it was Bought by the now owner as hopes of turning it into some fun ship but didn’t take off. Plans to turn it into night club but failed on safety issue and basically the council has not supported many of past purposed projects. Owner now just uses it as storage I think as they have some clothing business or something in Liverpool. Oh and they have or did have Sunday Markets near the grounds. I think there are plans to do something with it as a tourist attraction soon too. I live not far and I’ve passed it many a time on me to Rhyl. I take the coast road just to see it near place called Mostyn in North Wales. I’ve always wanted to own it and get her back original condition to save some part of Ireland’s Ship Building heritage seeing it’s basically all gone including Harland and Wolff it’s self. Sad. So yes hope some of this Helped then.

Almost anyone can fly a drone with a bit of practice, I was expecting an urbex style exploration of the old boat.
The drone pilot needs more practise or a better drone!

Went on many holidays as a kid on the Duke of Lancaster and Duke of Argyle to Cornwall, Isle of Wight and South of England. Was cheaper to go Heysham as my dad got BR staff discount. Remember the fake fireplaces and in those days you got allocated a berth in a four berth cabin, not always with your family! Went on Liverpool few times on the Ulster Prince and Ulster Monarch when Dad no longer had the BR pass, getting up early to witness going up the locks! Daughter went to University in Chester and we took a drive out once to Mostyn and got a few snaps, sad but worthwhile sight.

Very much doubt it went across the water, its 4.3 miles away.
A couple of years ago sent my Mavic pro over to the Isle of Wight Victoria pier, spent a few minuets getting footage and there was still 40% battery on return to mainland near Hurst castle ....

Love this place spent many happy hours walking around this area , along the Wirral way on the beach 🌊, on the rocks at Thurstason beautiful area , Roydon Park not far from their another lovely place . Park gate, Neston , right through to West Kirby , Hoylake , Moreton , New Brighton, and along the prom to Seacome coming out at Woodside .great video by the way , thank you 😊.
