You're very welcome! I will say though, it will be quite a while before the Xbox 360 receives Insignia support, because the dev team have stated on their discord that: 1. It would require them to reverse engineer all of the Xbox 360 services that are needed to connect to Xbox Live in order to use the Original Xbox's live functionality on 360 2. but also, they devs for Insignia stated that it would not be a good idea if they were to start reverse engineering Xbox 360 live while Xbox 360 live is still a service that can be paid for, because then Microsoft can (and mostly likely would), come after them. That being said though, the Xbox 360's live functionality will come to an end at some point most likely, so when that day does come and Insignia gets supported on RGH'd units, THEN I think people will try really hard to either make a new Original Xbox emulator that runs on the 360 or try to somehow improve the current one that was developed by Microsoft. The closest thing we have to this nowadays is the switch lite colour variations, the PS5 console "plates", or special editions which can cost slightly more sometimes... But I get what you mean, it's not like how the Gamecube had various launch model colours you could pick from.

Luckily for me, I removed the problematic clock capacitor (so my console retrieves the time from the internet) and if any of the other essential capacitors blow, you can easily replace them for less than $10 (assuming you already have soldering equipment and the skills to use said equipment). Also replacing the HDD is really easy with FatXplorer Beta 3. When I buy something like this, it's because I am going to use it.

I like 6th gen the most too, I maybe like Gamecube slightly more than Xbox, but the Xbox has to be a close second for me. Especially because of Steel Battalion, but not just Steel Battalion, the console also runs cross platform third party games so excellently too! The controller has aged perfectly, since microsoft hasn't changed it up all that much. Plus there's some exclusives (not just Halo or Steel Battalion), but the Xbox Live Arcade, Midtown Madness 3, Project Gotham Racing 2. Not to mention, the way the whole online interface/interactions worked, was miles ahead of the PS2 and especially the Gamecube since the Gameube only used full online for one game (Phantasy Star Online, which you can also play on the Original Xbox for significantly cheaper now in 2024, than if you wanted to play it on Gamecube). Otherwise the Gamecube only had LAN for a handful of games and each PS2 game used it's own proprietary code for the online multiplayer servers, whereas the Original Xbox relies on a shared library of services to make the servers work (except for Steel Battalion Line of Contact's Campaign server). This was why the Insignia devs were able to roll out support for so many games at once. Whereas on PS2, you have to reverse engineer every single PS2 Online server that was ever made.

You are right. I cringed watching that back in the editing software. Someone else told me I should've put a towel and in hindsight... Yeah I definitely should've, that would've been smarter. I was just sad that it had an error code 7 and I wasn't thinking straight. It doesn't have any scratches though. I tried to be as careful as I could.

You are right, I thought about that as I was watching it back in the editing software (I cringed a little). It's all good though. I tried to be as careful as I could. Plus it didn't work as I hoped and was a little disappointed and not thinking straight.

Yeah it's an original 40 pin I believe.

I ended up dumping the eeprom and put the original motherboard back, now it is softmodded. I only swapped the motherboard for a few months before I eventually got a raspberry pi pico and dumped the original motherboard's eeprom since the HDD was dead and I didn't have the HDD key to lock a new drive.... until I did get that HDD key.

If you can find a second original Xbox for cheap with a working disk drive, like I said in the video, it's only nine screws to replace the disk drive and the beauty of the Original Xbox is that the disk drives are not married to the motherboards they came with from the factory! Sometimes the fix could involve replacing the capacitors inside the disk drive. :)

Try cleaning the laser & apply lithium grease on the gears after cleaning up the old.

I swear, when I did it without a Vita memory card and the guide didn't say that you have to redo the browser exploit again and I found that out from searching it, I was like: "Why has no one clearly said this?" So I had to include it in this video.

I'm happy with how simple-ish the fix was, because otherwise, I was going to case swap it, but I really do like it when I can keep the original motherboard with the original case when it comes to things like this.

Fair. After I got it working though, there's really not much else to say about it. It runs UnleashX and can read disks no problem. I couldn't show it with the error code 16, because I forgot to do that before I fixed it.

@@N68dodgeboy Error or no error would have been nice to see it power on, nice even just to see a PAL Xbox power with a US PSU. Honestly I do watch quite a few "fixing old tech" kind of videos maybe I was expecting too much from this, but it did feel like a good one of those videos at the start. "Can I fix a PAL Region Crystal Xbox?" well you can watch me swap a PSU then read a short story about the rest.

@@dpowerful1 When you put it that way, it does kind of suck and makes it unsatisfying, but I figured... it's better to put something out rather than just continuing to sit on the footage, so I did just that.... (Plus I only have so much time to do these things, so I just pushed it out without thinking too much about it, but also explaining how I fixed it, since I didn't actively show what I did to fix it, since I've been holding onto this console and the footage for months) You know what though... I could totally make a follow up to this, because there is one thing I did not mention in this video that I also had to do, in order to really convert it to a North American unit...

Most likely, yes, but there isn't a: "PAL" option per se, but you have to select a country in the PAL region and it should adjust accordingly.

Yup, with both of the grey ends plugged into both GBAs according to research and theory, but I unfortunately do not have two OEM cables to actually document and prove this on video.

I believe you must CFW the system in order to do this and I believe that the reasons are partly because: 1. Hen doesn't have the tools to do this 2. Hen isn't persistent on boot up as you know that you have to run the Hen shortcut to re-enable all your homebrew related things and so because of this, you can't just temporarily change the disk drive region while it is running as it requires a restart as shown in my video. Thus, it would pretty much require that you modify the system software and keep it that way every time you start up the system, because restarting the PS3 would make you lose your HEN capability again. I believe what I am doing in my video actually modifies the NAND Flash to change the disk drive region (but I could be wrong about that).

Yup. This is exactly what I did to mine. I will likely make a follow up video on this (and a few others) because in the short week that I've had this thing, I learned A LOT about the Vita in such a short amount of time. I was just waiting for my charging cable and my SD2Vita to arrive before I could really play with the system.

@@N68dodgeboyno only that , but there is also a ton of apps and plugins that will make the vita experience more fun and enjoyable like overclocking for best performance, vitabright to increase or decrease the brightness of the vita above or below the normal settings, and there is even one that helps with stick drift

Huh. Interesting... As you can see though, it seems as though region changing a PS3's region via software is kind of buggy. Perhaps it may take a few attempts of trying to set the dvd region from Japan to NA and that could fix it? I can't say I know for sure though, but I swear when I did this and tried to set the region from Japan to North America, it didn't work for me the first time I did it. I was pretty happy when I did it again the second time and then it worked... Maybe I'm remebering wrong, but maybe I also changed the region to PAL (UK) and then back to Japan and then back to NA? I haven't touched these settings in a while.

I also have A00 Frankie and Pal dvd’s work fine with DEX, but no NTSC dvd’s. Blu rays don’t have any problems. Kinda weird

Nope. Like I said in the video, I scanned the installer.exe with a paid bitdefender anti-virus subscription and have had no issues. I still have New Club Penguin installed on PC actually and still no problems, I just haven't really played it much.
