    Prairies dogs KNOW WHAT A GUN IS??????? Damm then I'm sure dolphins are way more complex.

    • @Dunnoxer
      @Dunnoxer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kinda. You're right that dolphins are more complex, but wrong (on some level) that prairie dogs know what a gun is. Recognizing an object doesn't necessarily mean knowing what the object is in a wider sense. Prairie dogs might associate gun with danger, the same way they associate grass with food. Imagine it this way - You're suddenly teleported to an alien world where everything is beyond your comprehension. You see that the aliens are using a tool of some sort to try and catch or kill you/your comrades. You can now imagine that when you see that tool and an alien, you associate it with danger. Then you just assign an arbitrary name to the tool, something like "bozorkakork" and there you have it. The tool now has a name that you associate with danger. What is it? Well, only the aliens know that. What you know is that it is dangerous and maybe you can assign other properties to it, but it's not really necessary.

      I know man but it is a spectrum, and they are far mor ahead in that spectrum than I imagined. And every word we have as well is nothing more than an association, just way more refined. I did not expect thar prairie dogs would even consider a human with a gun more dangerous than a human without.

    • @somethingelse4424
      @somethingelse4424 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dunnoxer I mean, that basically describes humans as well. We basically just repeat a word that we hear for a thing that we don't understand. For instance as a child you didn't know what a car was with any greater specificity than a prairie dog understands a gun... just recognizing an object, being taught a sound for it, and maybe attaching an emotion to it. Possibly eventually understanding it means going a long way away. I'm sure Prarie Dogs don't understand metallurgy and the chemistry of gunpowder, but either have the majority of humans that have used guns. My point being it's probably the same basic unit of intelligence, humans just can accumulate a greater volume. Our sounds for the things are recorded and methodically passed down.
