    What a terrible training partner. Wrenching on your partners head despite him being way smaller than you, using practically no technique, just muscles everything, and has so little care for his partners safety he wrenches a sub at the end and hurts his elbow. And your response about strength being the same as utilizing speed or flexibility is total nonsense, you don't substitute flexibility for technique. The reason using strength in place of technique is a terrible practice is because it allows you to get away with using shit technique because you're facing smaller training partners. Using flexibility allows you to apply MORE technique, not avoid using it the way strength does. You will always be a sub par grappler, but you wont ever realize how bad you are because you train with small, unathletic novices.

    • @jiujitsume
      @jiujitsume หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate the support! You’re absolutely right…..I do use my size and strength to my advantage. Just like I would use speed, agility or flexibility to my advantage if I had any of those attributes. The difference is no one would say, Oh he’s just using his speed/agility/flexibility, he has no technique. I know my technique isn’t great, but, that’s why I train. Always trying to get better. As far as caring for my partners safety goes that is always one of my main priorities. Check out my other videos. I never snatch a sub or throw them on quick. This straight arm bar just happened to get tight quicker than expected.

      Nah bro. You can be put in any type of situation in a live match. When you started BJJ, did you have flexibility issues you had to overcome? If so, did you do any type of stretching routine or did you just keep training and letting it work its self out over time? Reason I ask is because I'm a bigger guy like yourself and I've spent the better part of the last 25 years lifting heavy weights. Unfortunately, I neglected stretching which caused my flexibility to really hinder a good portion of my BJJ game I had when I was younger. Tree trunk legs with low flexibility causes my to neglect certain aspects of my BJJ game and I find myself lacking in certain positions. At this point, I need flexibility improvements more than I need cardio improvements. Love the content, keep it up!

    • @jiujitsume
      @jiujitsume 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep! I still have flexibility issues. I can say I am definitely more flexible now than I was when I started though. I just stretch before class and during warmups, nothing specific. I would benefit from focusing on my flexibility more. Thanks for watching! I appreciate the support!

    The first sub is a "Mir lock". Made famous by Frank Mir in the UFC. The second sub/armbar from "high guard" is actually called a top lock. Big component from the Danaher/DDS/New Wave guys. They didn't invent it just made it popular. The 3rd, starting from the sweep from NorthSouth, leading into the straight armbar is really a good situation to sum the entire roll up: You're obviously a big strong physical guy and what I've learned the most through the years is that you big strong guys get comfortable relying on that strength. You understand and accept when the strength works and are confused when it doesn't. Don't be afraid to move more. Movement is going to be the biggest key to learning you will have. There's always time for control, time for finishing technique, and all the rest. However, at the end of the day if you train 5 times a week, spend/get to roll 30 minutes a day, that's 2 1/2 hours of rolling time. If you spend 80% of that stuck in top side control against lower belts, smaller guys, weaker guys, and create no movement you're effectively spending 2 hours of rolling time a week reinforcing beginner/bad technique. Don't be afraid to get in bad positions. Don't just "destroy" the lower belts or weaker guys. Use them as opportunities to work on escapes, re-composition, and understanding of what way to move and why you're moving that way. Then when you get to roll against your professor you will get to experience more positions and gather a lot more details from the roll. Good luck and keep up the journey!

      Thanks for watching! I appreciate the support and advice! I agree with you 100% that I need to move more. I’m trying to be more conscious of that but I tend to zone out and revert back to “Hulk Smash” during my rolls. 😂

      Thanks for watching! I appreciate the support! Yea with all the years of experience he has it’s almost like a 6th sense for him to feel when I’m making a mistake and capitalize on it.
