new series recording wildlife in my back yard by hand. for at least 30 min per day acting as my own trail camera- I’ll sit out there for 30 min each day and record the action- (weather pending). -it turns out the go pro is terrible for this job. so.. I’m working on a better option…

Moving my Plants back Outside for Spring
I am in zone 7b and I bought cactus to do this this spring. Amazing Idea with the grow bags, I have so many laying around!!
How is the garden 3 years later?
@@matthewpetersen4417 the garden is still great. I would say that the sedum flat I used as ground cover is a bit overwhelming at times. But it’s growing well. The grow bags were NOT a great idea for the planting but were terrific for the rocks I used as dry wells. I think if I was doing it again I would not just use stones as substrate. I’d use something finer. More like a pon mix or bonsai soil situation. I think some of the plants could benefit from having a bit better soil around the roots. The Agaves have grown well and so have the opuntia cacti. The other cactus varieties are holding on too but stay small or grow really slowly. I’ll need to make an update this spring- if you do scroll through my garden videos I do show it during my tours. I’m pleased but there are definitely things I’d do differently-. If you create a garden like this it’s important to leave space to get in there and maintain things! It’s really hard for me to ever9is so close together and spiny. I didn’t leave spaces to move around or stand and it’s really hard to get rid of weeds like morning glory bind weed. Good luck!
Are you putting snacks by the camera? They’re always coming so close!
FYI peat is really harmful for the environment and in Europe has been banned as removing it destroys natural habitats, affects water drainage, and leaks lots of methane into the air as it dries.
This is not proper advise.
@@vvoss2805 ok-. Well. It worked for me-I’m clearly NOT an expert and I didn’t claim to be-. So. Feel free to make your own expert video and correct all of my errors-
Looks even better in person!
Where did you get your rolling pans?

@@reginaschliemann736 thank you for watching!! Ich lerne deutsch aber nicht so gut. 😂. Im glad you have a seedling and I hope you are very successful!!🌺
Any update?
@@ambercrosby6752 thanks for reminding me. The update is that it didn’t work out-for two reasons. - the first is that July was hot and dry so it didn’t get as good a chance as it needed-the second reason is rabbits-my leaves were eaten on most of the cuttings so…. Right now there are still 3 plants but none have really grown much at all! Oh well. It was worth a try i guess. I’ve been meaning to do a quick video update but didn’t get around to it yet
What do you use as fertilizer?
@@fd8067 I mostly use the advice from the growing citrus in containers Facebook group. Since I’m no expert. I rely on the group-.so. When I fertilize which is not often enough I use foliage pro. I also use. Osmokote plus (pink lid) as slow release. And. I also supplement sometimes. With Alaska fish. Or some other organic mixture-- right or wrong my trees seem happy so far

I'm in 7a Hamilton Nj. I finally found a channel somewhat close 😊 I've recently gotten into Cactus and needed a idea of what hardy Cactus I could actually grow in my yard ❤❤❤❤❤thanks for sharing ❤
Oh great your welcome and I’m glad I could help!
Beginning was good
😂
Not sure I’ve ever posted a bore boring video lol.
You could try editing 😂
Looks good great info I’m starting one on a smaller scale (start last week) see how it goes
Cool I’ll be interested to see how it goes
Very good work❤
Off to a good start I’m dealing with some rambunctious ground hogs this season keeps things interesting
That’s fun. Hope he doesn’t eat everything
Wind plastic snow has kept me up many nights
Good mix, I just did 50/50 perlite mix to avoid silting, lifting small young trees can be risky by trunk.
What kind of potting mix is it could you share thanks
The mix is really close to what they call 5-1-1 mix. The recipe/ ratios can be found in the Facebook group. Growing Citrus in Containers.
Plants look healthy indoors. How much light do you provide them to keep them healthy?
I keep them in a window area that faces west but also gets some southern exposure. I also provide grow lights. I have a Medusa style floor lamp that has 5 sansi grow light bulbs in it that I got on Amazon separately. I keep the light on at least 14 hours a day all winter
'promosm' 🌺
Was wondering how strong or how many watts is your grow light?
The grow light I have on them now is actually just a Medusa style lamp with grow light bulbs in it. I got the bulbs on Amazon. They are SANSI grow light bulbs. 10 W and 15 W led grow light bulbs. Really it’s supplemental to the winter sun as the plants are in a SW side window and get lots of natural light
@@visitmybigbackyard Thanks
Excellent 🎉🎉🎉 I subscribed to your channel 🙏
Говорят на 1 плод должно быть 15 листов - иначе типа не прокормит дерево эти плоды
Translated to English “They say there should be 15 leaves for 1 fruit - otherwise the tree will not feed these fruits”. That may be true, I just let my trees self prune. They drop the fruits they can’t support , usually when they are still very small. and I get whatever fruits make it to maturity
Instead of rocks use paper towel or table napkins.
Yes I could. If I had thought about it I would have used window screen
Vous avez l’air de vivre dans un pays relativement froid en hiver, rentrez vous votre plumeria pendant la saison froide ?
Yes it gets cold here in the winter. I bring the plumeria inside from October through April. It can handle a bit of a chill but I can’t let it freeze.
What is the variety of your lime tree?
Im not sure actually. I got it directly from a local person who grew it from his own. Not from a store so I Never had a label. I assume it’s whatever the most usual available variety is?
Lots of deer activity and really cool getting the foxes, I rarely get those for whatever reason. The deer at 9:00 has something weird going on with the back of its neck, could have been hair pushed the wrong way I guess, nice footage! 👍
Thanks for watching. I didn’t see anything on the deer at 9:00. but I always see one deer with her tongue hanging out in many of my videos 😝
@@visitmybigbackyard 😆
No offense but I think you're allowing your Owari to set too many fruit at such a young age. That's coming at the expense of leaf growth. My Owari is 3.5 years old and much bigger and bushier than yours and I only allowed it to set 8 fruits this past summer. It's also in a container.
You are probably correct although I was under the impression that the tree would self prune what it was not able to carry. However now that 8 have harvested and eaten all of my owari. For the year(they were delicious). It has plenty of time to recover. I’m sure it will put out new leaves soon I. not sure if it will bloom again this year or not but we will see.
It probably wont bloom again until march. I've read several times that citrus trees are not self-thinning. I will probably allow my tree to ripen 10-12 peaches this coming season. Best of luck to you.
Horticultural oil and/or pyrethrin based pesticides are the best treatment for pests on citrus. Pyrethrin isn't as bad as it sounds, it's derived from chrysanthemum and degrades within a 1-2 days. If you have a dog there's a good chance their flea medication contains Pyrethrins.
I have some pyretherin. If my insects are not successful I will treat them
I have started making a natural spray from citrus peel that really keeps pests including mealy bugs away. I always find that little bugs love my overwintering plants, so am so happy to have a safe, natural way to fight them🙂
Cool I subbed.....I just got into the hobby myself. Keep us posted
Thanks. I will for sure
Where are you located, thank you for sharing
I’m in Delaware
Nice, I think manderin all some of the hardest to grow. I get scale on my Kishu manderins which have not flowered in a year but I think roots are growing strong. I had luck with horticultural oil spray.
Thanks. I just added. Mealybug destroyer beetles. And will be adding other beneficial insects
A few treatments of GardenTech Sevin Insect Killer Liquid will get rid off your bugs
Thanks. I’m trying to avoid that type of solution if possible.
It seems like lemons are less susceptible to bugs. It’s cool to see your lemons run true to that prediction like mine do!
Thanks. I didn’t know that was a thing. Bonus my lemon is blooming again now!
To big the new container !
I realize they may have technically been too big but I have not had any issues from that. It’s been over a year and my trees are very healthy and fruitful
what zone are you in?
Zone 7
If a plant is stuck in a pot, just put it on the ground and roll it on the sides, it will then come out pretty easily. This breaks the friction between the root ball and the sides of the pot. If you left it in the pot that long it is probably root bound, too.
I’m pretty sure they were not root bound in the old pots. The fabric pits I had them in do have a tendency to stick a bit as well as to dry out too quickly. The plastic pots I put them in in the video are much better a d my trees are still doing quite well. It’s been over a year. I have fruit on all of them
Buy some better pots.
Is there something in particular wrong with my pots? I do need to have my trees of a size that I can pick them up and put them in my kitchen in the winter
How did they do???
They did great all my cuttings grew. And the mother plant has 4 nice branches. It’s big though so I have a plan to give it away
What content you used not mention
I don’t understand your question.. try again?
Thank you
Wow so beautiful planting ❤🎉❤🎉❤
