KitchenAid Burr Coffee Grinder Static Cure
Is your grinder creating so much static the grounds are all over the walls of the cup? Mine sure was, and I couldn't find an answer anywhere. Seems the problem is coffee grinds gunking up some metal pins buried near the exit of the grinder. Some genius on Amazon described this in a review so I gave it a try. It worked, but I can't claim to have tested the method scientifically. It's quick and easy, though, spend 90 seconds watching my ShakeyCam.

Mama squirrel decided my hot tub deck would be a good place to have a litter. Today they all popped out for a look around.

New telescope, new camera. . .same old sloppy techniques. Still, for me it's a thrill to zoom in close to the moon and fly over the surface. Hope you like it, too. Music was provided free via TH-cam studiofrom the Mini Vandals: In Memory of Jean Talon #minivandals #moon #celestron #zwocameras

This worked like a charm. Took out the burr bucket, gave it a quick vacuum and cleaned the pins with a small toothbrush. Then another quick vacuum. No more static cling!
Glad to hear it! I probably should do all those other cleaning things to mine… Thanks.
THANK YOU!! It worked for me too.
Hey, that's great! Glad to hear it.
what is the static issue? My issue is that grinds are now getting sprayed all over with many missing the porta filter and ending up on the counter, grinder base etc. - total mess
@@Kutzdog The static problem occurs after a year or so. You’ll recognize it by the grinds sticking to the walls of the plastic container the grinder comes with. I guess it would also give you problems if you’re trying to grind directly into a portafilter since the grinds go flying everywhere. I’d try cleaning it as I show in the video. . .but I’m guessing you’ll still be better off if you grind into the container and then pour it into the portafilter. I have a funnel that came with my AeroPress; something about that size with a 2-inch opening should do it. Good luck.
I just wanted to come back and tell you thank you! My wife and I were losing it with the sudden insane amount of static. After watching your video, I cleaned the bars with a cheap toothbrush that you get from the dentist. It did the trick. Back to great coffee.
Glad it helped! I owe it all to that guy on Amazon.
I'm going to try it in tomorrow. Will return with the results..
It worked!
Great! Glad it worked for you-and thanks for letting me know.
@fjrodrick no longer works. No matter what i do
@@goranthefarmer That’s bad news-I’ve been relying on this entirely to solve the problem. I just checked mine, six months after the last cleaning, and it had a little bit of grounds on the pins but no static yet. Please post if you find a way to clean it. And good luck!
This was super helpful! We have the same burr grinder and noticed the static issue after about a year as well. Had no idea how to fix it. Now it’s working like it’s brand new again with no static whatsoever. Thank you!
So glad it worked for you! And thanks for letting me know somebody actually saw this video and got something out of it. 😊
Nice playing Jules! And Frank Nice video, audio production!👍
