When I first met my late wife I said she bore a strong resemblance to Gwen Verdon. I was taken aback when she said she didn't know who that was. I had spent a brief stint as a dance instructor before the impending Viet Nam draft compelled me to enlist in the Navy, and I adored Gwen Verdon.

They were once married to each other. I love watching Gwen and Bob dance together. They were so darling. Tears to come to my eyes. Just got Damn Yankees DVD great movie, great dancing Gwen and Bob in the movie. For a long time I've been a fan of Gwen Verdon. But never really knew how wonderful a dancer she was. Along with Bob Fossie.i did remember seeing Damn Yankees in the movie theater. From 1950s. I remembered alot of it after 50 years. I made a few memory boo boos. William Bendex didn't play the old fellow, Joe,,who makes a deal with Ray Walston, the Devil, then turns into a young Joe baseball player, played by Tab Hunter. Gwen Verdon, who plays Lola, devil's gal. Also Maureen Stapleton was also in the movie. Before she played Edith Bunker, in the 70s. I still don't know the actor who played old Joe, he sang well. Very good entertaining fun movie. They made alot of those good movies back then and 60s too..😅

Omg, I just love what Bob Fossie said about his 3rd wife Gwen Verdon. They were so cute together when they from Damn Yankees did that wonderful dance Who's Got The Pain. They were so insinc, their dancing, Bob Fossie and his Shadow,Gwen. Gwen Verdon and her Shadow, Bob. I watch this dance number every day. Along with Gwen in What Lola Wants, Lola Gets. She was such a Siren in that number. Fantastic!! Last time I saw Gwen Verdon was on an episode of Walker Texas Ranger. 1996 area. I loved her in Cocoon Movies. Tom Selleck, Magnum series. I miss her. 😢

This was one year after their Broadway revival of Sweet Charity, which won four Tonys, including Best Revival. Fosse had also won best choreography for Big Deal, which was a flop. It was less than four months before Fosse died on the night before the touring production of Sweet Charity opened in DC.

My first Broadway show ever! And Pearlie Mae was in her element. Demonstrating the difference between an excellent performer and a STAR! A large cast of strong singers and dancers all taking their cues from a conductor fronting a REAL orchestra. AND NO DAMN MICROPHONES! From now on when people ask me why I no longer go to musicals, I'm going to show them this.
