On August 3rd, Damian Priest defends his title against Gunther. The longest reigning Intercontinental Champion ever. But more importantly, at least in this case, a man that CM Punk doesn’t have a problem with so there won’t be any CM Punk interference for Damian Priest to rely on.
A lot of people have been calling Damian Priest a transitional champion. If he cares to silence those critics, he’ll have to beat Gunther on his own. No Judgement Day. No ref bumps. And no CM Punk.
If he fails, his reign will soon be forgotten and the only person going “south of heaven” will be Damian Priest, himself.
