Gene is a vastly underrated bass player!!! All of his base lines are technical, musical, tasteful and always written to serve the song perfectly. Then he sings on top of that and then when live is highly animated and still playing every note pitch perfect ! I want to see these “respected virtuoso” bas players take their eyes off the fret board let alone jump around the stage and entertain the audience! Anyone can be a trained monkey, but very few can be real performers and entertain rather than show off to the audience! Gene fills all of that criteria!! For all those on here talking shit about Gene and his playing, please upload your bass lines so we can all see whether your opinion is valid or not!
