I'm in complete agreement with @bobgold57. This is definitely his greatest recording for me as well. His playing is so supple and expressive, even within the context of his usual unsentimental rhythmic directness. Much more so than his Brahms solo recordings from the same period.

L'oeuvre propose un trio pour orchestre, mais elle ne tient pas son objectif. L'auditeur ne peut parvenir à distinguer chaque orchestre. Le discours est tellement haché et confus que l'on entend qu'un orchestre malgré la bonne volonté des chefs.

Listening to Pollini and remembering Dino Ciani

Magnifique interprétation de cette oeuvre extraordinaire. Pollini a aussi enregistré de façon remarquable les concertos 1 et 2 avec Abbado. C'est avec stupeur et émotion que j'ai appris aujourd'hui la disparition de Maurizio Pollini, que j'ai eu la chance d'entendre à plusieurs reprises à la fin des années 1990. Un souvenir particulier d'une interprétation exceptionnelle de maîtrise et de couleurs de la sonate Waldstein de Beethoven, et aussi, à la cité de la musique, du Klavierstück X de Stockhausen...

This is wrong, weird! This is the Fantasia and Fugue in C minor BWV whatever, and it sounds like his recording of it on the Alkmaar organ made for DDG/Arkiv. I could be wrong.

Quite amazing and rare. Wow!

To my ears, his greatest recording--though some of the Beethoven Sonatas are absolutely worth hearing. There's something more pliable here--in a sensitive way--perhaps he was in his prime in his early 50's. A great recording to post!
