This doesn't explain it, the issue is younhave to tap it, holding it doesn't work. The other classes you can hold perry and it works Bulwark tou can't
@@djklose1 That was stated in Part 2 of this guide, Brother.
I've been only playing assault, tac and vanguard. parrying with the bulwark has been rough 😭
@@WalterSobchak91 Quite understandable, Brother. When I was playing Vanguard there was an adjustment period for me as well. Part 2 goes into more detail regarding the timing that may help a bit more.
@ I’ll def watch these, thanks for posting I love content like this! Definitely keep it going!
For whatever reason, one time doesnt work for me, I have to like spam the L1 button for me to perry. But then again maybe I just need to practice, I have not done any trials I just went strait into operations.
@@pavlovbodybuilding Definitely spend a few minutes practicing, Brother. Part 2 goes into more detail and shows very specific timing. That may help remove spam if that's what you are looking to do.
@@COA5T Appreciate you brother, I’ll check it out! The Emperor protects.
It's weird they didn't just make shield bash parry
It feels like if you’re in motion that the parry is a bit slower on bulwark. Seems easier to nail it when you press it without a directional input
Playing Bulwark made me actually learn the parry system, I had thought that only stuff that flashed blue could be parried so i was always running blocking items for the stats, thinking parries were not common enough to matter. I was just spacebar'ing everything. I am taking all the parry perks on the left side perks, AoE damage on parry, 25% damage to shocked enemies, shock grenade on parry and running the fencing power sword and I love it.
Best explanation by far.
@@dispinoylovzyou My thanks, Brother. Part 2 is a follow up and goes a bit more in-depth.
8:41 imma touch you gang
My latest issue is when I'm being mobbed, I parry some hormogants instead of the warrior.
@@JB-xi2yv That's understandable, Brother. Try to weave in some shield bashes to make space from time to time, but as long as you have the correct timing against the Majoris unit, if it hits a Minoris they should also get STUNNED, but not necessarily a perfect Parry, meaning you won't get a Gunstrike opportunity. Just reset and try again.
The parry and dodge mechanics reminds me of ghost of tsushima
Many thanks brother Coast, the bulwark place in a team is really understood for me know, as well parry I was totally lost after tactical and heavy.
Of course, Brother. May your hunt continue with the blessing of the Emperor.
@@COA5T it will
Hopefully this can help someone else, I thought I was going insane, but my parries were flawless in trials but could not for the life of me hit a single parry in operations. Turns out, if your melee weapon of choice has a defence type of Block, parrying with that is absolutely terrible and/or possibly impossible, and guess what, that is exactly the weapon type I had equipped. If you switch to balanced or fencing (fencing especially) the parry works and you get quite the timing window to hit your parry. I share this knowledge for the advancement of humanity and our assured victory against the enemies of our kind. While the enemies of the Emperor still draw breath, there can be no peace.
The stance change on parry doesn’t work for me. Wish you would have explained the inputs better.
My apologies Brother, but I am not sure how I could explain it any better. The overlay shows the actual key presses on screen so you can see what I am pressing, and I even show how fast the input timing is by how quickly you should tap parry and hold melee. I show it actually being done multiple times. What other methods would you suggest that I can show?
@@COA5T are you tapping or holding the melee key during the parry animation? Is the timing on the melee input instantaneous with the parry input or slightly after? The overlay isn’t helping me determine how exactly it’s done.
@@DrDamagePHD To change stance at all you have to hold melee, so remember how that feels first. All you are doing is just adding a quick input for Parry before that. You must tap Parry, and then INSTANTLY begin holding melee. When done right, the stance change will happen during the Parry animation instead of two separate animations.
@@COA5T Alright so, that’s how I understood it from the video. I tried it a lot like that and only got the two separate animations. Idk. I’ll try it some more.
@@DrDamagePHD I'll admit it does take a bit of practice, Brother. It took me a couple of hours before I could do it consistently back to back. If you are getting two separate animations, increase your speed slightly and incrementally and it will become more consistent.
Have you mapped melee to R? 🤔
Yes Brother, but it's not what you think. I do not use a standard keyboard. I use an Azeron keypad for extended gaming sessions due to injuries in my arm and wrist. So I could technically map any key as melee, but 'R' just so happened to be on this overlay so I used that.
@@COA5T Interesting, looks like some kind of Power Fist control interface! 😁
@@Viktor_Johansson 😂 You're right. I've been wielding a Power Fist this whole time and didn't even realize it. 💪😤
Great info, thanks.
You're welcome.....traitor?

This was super helpful Thank You Brother. The Emperor is pleased with you.
You honour me, Brother. May the Emperor guide your path.
Coast here doing the Emperors work!
As directed by the Codex Astartes, Brother. I hope this video helped. Part 2 goes even more in-depth, but changes to fencing weapons in patches after this video trivializes a lot of these nuances of the Bulwark parry.
I was struggling with the parry for the bulwark for a week until I saw your series. Thank U!
@@Lionheart319 You are welcome, Brother. I am glad these guides have been of use to you. The Emperor protects.
@@COA5T I am a woman but OK.
@@Lionheart319 That's quite alright. I respond as a Battle-Brother, not as my IRL self. We are all Space Marines.
You cant be a heretic fam, its a holo deck
Does the damage of your pistol determine how much contested HP you get back per bullet? May have to test this
@@Gellossgamer That is correct, Brother. This is why you will see a difference in the recovery amount from non-charged shot to a charged shot. The Bolt and Plasma Pistol also have a perk that does additional DMG to Terminus enemies, thus increasing the recovery amount.
@@COA5T that’s great to know, appreciate the help Brother.
Great video again thank you. So you prefer the chain sword to the power sword? Is it better in your mind? Cheers
TY Brother. Although the Power Sword is my favorite, I believe that the Chainsword is a better weapon. Better combos and the heavy attacks do a more consistent job of interrupting enemies.
this is awesome, thank you brother
Thank you, Brother. The Emperor protects.
Why there isn't a training room in the game where you can practice the timings on various enemies is crazy!
@@AshKaye78 That would certainly help, Brother. Maybe they can add on the PvP arena they added in the barge later on.
@@COA5T yeah still not sure why they added that feature! Great content bro 🙌
AMAZING WORK BROTHER. Those beasts were kicking my ass out in hard mode and i didn't know why. Thank you!
You are most welcome, Brother. The Emperor protects.
They should have made it bindable to different buttons...
@@EfferusZangetsu I agree 💯 percent, Brother.
Thank you so much for your guidance, brother.
@@Renhaiv You are quite welcome, Brother. FYI After today's patch, Perfect Parrying became infinitely easier with 'Fencing' weapons, so this guide now only applies to Balanced weapons.
Did the most recent update help bulwarks with fencing weapons?
@@Gellossgamer Ultimately yes, but also no(?). Parry on the first frame is amazing and now means you can pretty much press parry extremely late into the enemies swing animation, all the way up to right before it hits you. It's much closer to what a parry is in most action games. However, with the window being moved up to the first frame, whiffing a parry is punished heavily. My guide only applies to Balanced weapons now, as they still function the same.
@@COA5T ah understood! Appreciate the explanation. I’ll probably practice with both a fencing then balance melee to see which one I like more.
It never does the electric aoe when i parry😢
@@pitbullsensei179 In the Trial?
@@COA5T it works now.i'm on ps5,and i never created electric puddles after a perfect parry,or i got no 25%+dmg buff after weapon swap.but thanks to your video i'm now like "luke parry"(lame joke, sorry🤣).but 4real tho, your tutorial was perfect.i did not even know that i can parry normal attacks.left you a like and a follow for your help and time.thx👍🏼
@@pitbullsensei179 Excellent work, Brother. I am glad everything worked out and you were able to gain even a small amount of knowledge from this training. As of today's patch, it is significantly easier to perfect Parry with Fencing weapons than before, so this knowledge now only applies to Balanced weapons. Emperor guide you, Brother.
@@COA5T we march for maccragge!
Changing C to another key did the trick. I am now fast enough as I have parry on a mouse button.
@@Luetzow1 Awesome, Brother. I am proud of you!
@@COA5T <3
Thank you very much bro for your guides on parrying! But unfortunately I can't perfectly parry the attacks of the hydralisk, only a perfect dodge on the second hit of the combo. I tried both early and laterI, just block. It's easy enough to perfectly dodge all 4 of his attacks. But the parrying is a pain. There are no problems with the tyranid warrior, I now parry him by sound :D
@@Noble_Flash Thank you, Brother. For the Ravener (StarCraft hydralisk), I would recommend double checking if you have equipped yourself with a Power sword that has the 'FENCING' defence stat before you go into Trial 3. This will allow you to train against this enemy's parry window more efficiently. With the latest patch, the Perfect Parry window on Fencing weapons is quite large and very forgivable.
@@COA5T Jesus! You were absolutely right! I lvl up my fist level after completing the blade, and it turns out that when you select the weapon position in the list, this position is mirrored on all other weapons. Where I had a fist to fencing, but the sword was automatically on the block. Now Ravener has a constant perfect parry. Thanks again! Now it's time for a video about advanced swordsmanship)
@@Noble_Flash Excellent, Brother! That was something I noticed as well when changing load outs. if you change any weapon it changes all the other weapons in that category. I hope they patch that later on because it's very unintuitive.
My friend. You have helped me tremendously, thank you!
@@lightstealer18 You are most welcome, Brother. The Emperor protects.
With all other classes I can parry with 100% . With bulwark even with fencing weapon it does not work properly. Shit class!
Now i know why I cannot parry with Bulwark

@@COA5T The emperor protects brother.
so pretty much: keep enemies in your view block and parry a lot don't melee attack much got it right?
@@Golesh02 In this series my goal was only to demonstrate the mechanics of the Bulwark parry itself. Over the course of parts 1&2 I was asked to show what was demonstrated during an operation. That was the only purpose of Part 3. In actuality, how I normally play is very offensive, and I attack with anticipation; meaning I am constantly pressing melee while anticipating the enemy's attack and respond with parry. Offensive parrying if you will. That is more advanced, so I just stuck to the basics for this series so that there is a clear visual of when to press parry.
@@COA5T I see. I play something in between, because parry doesn't seem to parry when I'm attacking and waiting for the window. Either way all three parts were extremely helpful. Thank you, brother.
@@Golesh02 Thank you, Brother. I am glad you were able to gain even a small amount of knowledge from these guides. May the Emperor guide your path.
Talk to me like I'm an Ork for a second. So in this video, you're holding down the block button, but as soon as you see the tyranid warrior attack or the blue circle, you let go the button and press it again. Correct?
@@TD_1815 That is absolutely correct, Brother. I am holding it down, but then releasing it and then quickly JUST TAPPING the button once again on the right timing in order to parry while blocking. During Part 3 of this series which is a full Operation walkthrough, you can see me do this quite a bit while facing a horde or enemies. Part 2 just shows the timing of the parry in more detail.
Mr Tony Coast thanks for this guide cause my dumbass always died cause I didn’t know the parry timing with bulwark
@@MrSv7dzg You are most welcome, Brother!
Tony, what's your thoughts on the powerfist?
@@haxguy0 I think the Power fist, even with it's recent buff, is not where it needs to be. The devs gave a slight buff to damage, when in reality the weapon does not do what it claims to do that well, which is range on its charged attacks. With melee not being able to heal back contested health on the same level as ranged weapons, it's hard to justify soaking damage to get off charged attacks that don't even heal back the damage you received while charging. It's in an odd spot at the moment in my opinion, Brother.
All this efort to mimic a fraction of the Power of a Melta
@@prich0382 I personally don't think that's the role or intent of this class. As Bulwarks, we are not out damaging a good Assault in melee, nor are we ever going to out damage any ranged class with our pistol. We have a pretty unique role, and if that horde mode ever comes to fruition, it will become very apparent what that is.
Awesome breakdown of the parry window brother! I think my problem now has been that I don't release the key when I am trying to parry!
@@curiositiesbythomas5302 Precisely, Brother! Just a quick tap of the key is all you need. Combine that with the right timing and you will become even more deadly, Brother. Emperor guide you.
Hmm interesting I never knew this was an issue but now that I do im gonna start having issues lol.
@@sg1trogdor You are a stalwart, Brother. Of pure mind, absent of heresy. This is but a small obstacle in your path, and it is unworthy of delaying your hunt. You will master this swiftly, and continue on as if this knowledge had merely been recalled from memory. Emperor guide your step, Brother.
How is this possible when the shield block and parry are on the same button?
@@dean8525 Part 2 goes more in depth of how the Parry on this class works, but the TLDR is: TAP the button for parry/HOLD for shield block. The quicker you release the button the game registers you want to parry instead of block. Tap and release as swiftly as you can.
But what if your actively holding the button to block. I found the only way it's possible when actively blocking is to double pump.
@@dean8525 Clear your mind, Brother. You may be tricking yourself. When you are holding block, all you have to do is release and then tap the button again. You may be thinking that you are double pressing when in actuality you are not. Holding a button down, releasing and then pressing it again can FEEL like a double press, but it is not. In Part 3 of my full Operation walkthrough I show multiple situations where I do this on a regular basis. It only takes practice and rethinking what your hands are actually doing, Brother.
Best vid I've seen on the subject. Thanks for the info, and great job.
@@aikendrum3228 I am grateful for your favorable endorsement, Brother. Emperor guide you.
Bro thanks for this! I had no idea
@@TheTrenchface You're welcome, Brother.
Ty, been struggling like shit getting parries with bulwark for some reason.
@@MrAlek1988 You are most welcome, Brother.
@@COA5T tried over and over, my bulwark always resort to block instead of parry for me sadly. I press block the second you do, the second his blade descends on me, always block. Perhaps it's bugged on playstation. EDIT* on playstation you need to double tap as block is certainly interfering with parry. If you block twice, you will see the parry animation.
Good to see you on my feed again brother. I much appreciate the opportunity to get even better with bulwark. Bulwark has become my most trusted class and the class I enjoy the most, I have helped carry many of my brothers to victory on ruthless difficulty, partially in thanks to your help. @@ParkAir33 My Brother! I am glad to hear that some of the knowledge you have acquired in these training grounds aids in your hunt. Thank you Brother, and may the Emperor guide your step as well.
The freaking heavy attack has a deceptively long range. If you turn the camera to the side you can see it. Makes the power fist jealous.
@@warriorfire8103 💯 agreed, Brother. I'm not sure why Saber chose a small buff to damage without recognizing the true flaw of the weapon which is it's falsely advertised reach.
@@COA5T I see echoes of what PowerFist can be when I have it's 8m reach perk. It's reach then is quit respectable, I've made a style of charging often and playing dare with majoras+ by slamming them just before a parry. I also discovered a full charge does quit the chunk of damage on Terminus enemies so I got interested in making a possible boss killer build. But... When I looked at the perks again I realized how limited it is compared to Power sword.
