How to make WeichnesS on the Octatrack MkII
มุมมอง 442ปีที่แล้ว
Behind the scenes of my organic lo-fi ambient project WeichnesS. After some time under the radar I am back. This time, with direct audio and a good mic. In these troubled times I have been sucked into the realms of ambient music and I felt the desire to show the live-concept of my new ambient project WeichnesS. Instead of playing with the sequencer and its triggers it is purely based on loops a...

wow super innovativ. very cool. keep it up 🔥🔥
Pretty edgy
congratulation it's very interesting, I love it! Where can I find some information to build or buy a devices like this please? Thank you very much
Thank you Jean, you can find quite some projects and info on the website of Arduino as well as on github. there is a big diy community that provides codes and advice there. Also TH-cam is a great source for that!
@@BernhardHollingerMusic thank you very much Bernhard!
@@jeanstengel4853 sure! :) Let me know what comes out of it :)
@@BernhardHollingerMusichey Bernard this is so good. Would you consider releasing codes and instructions? It would be so much fun to try this but I unfortunately don’t have that much time to figure it out myself
looks great
Gerade entdeckt!! Richtig gut - great journey! Good vibes… xx
This was great! Nice to hear people talk though their approaches to more experimental music performance.
so good!
on fire!
<3
very intense! Wow!
inspiring mix of installation/light/sound! <3
Nice Bro
Great documentary! I’m an aspiring filmmaker myself and a musician. And I’ve been looking for some inspiration to make my own documentary about a close friend to mine who is an incredibly talented musician. Thank you for the inspiration
thank you! Happy to hear and all the best for your own documentary, sounds exciting. curious what will come out o fit :)
Really cool :-)
thanks :)
this is absolutely great man! how do you get those loops so perfect?
Hey there, thanks. No loops I am triggering those notes with the sequencer, the reverb makes em fade nicely :)
Uh
awesome
thank you
Beautiful video... nice one! :) It's great that you are chasing your dream and making it come true! Makes me want to leave everything again and move to the city to meet musicians! I'm a musician too... moved from Tenerife, where I grew up, to Bristol, in 1999, also chasing my dream of playing in bands, recordings, festivals etc... did it for 15 years, had an amazing experience, and now I'm back in Tenerife... still making music, small little restaurant gigs and studio work, but still making music... oh man, this video made me nostalgic... I miss those small viby city clubs! If you ever come on holidays to Tenerife please get in touch! :)
Hey there Chris, thanks a lot for your lovely message! Seems like you had a great time in Bristol and still keeping the vibe going in Tenerife :) Thanks a lot for your offer, I will def. do that :) Best from Berlin, B
@@BernhardHollingerMusic Ahh so you moved to Berlin, nice one! I can imagine there's an amazing music scene there too... def have to visit Berlin one day! All the best to you in your musical journey! :)
@@ChrisDeJuanMusic :-) Yes, I came here in the end of 2019 after finally taking my gut-feel serious and did it! I felt already for a long time, that this is the place for me and so far i have been feeling really good about it, although I came here just before the pandemic. However I did enjoy the time to slow down, and reflect and sort priorities, that helped me orientate again! its all process and growth :) Thank you and hopefully we bump into each other one day! <3
This is great!
Thanks dear! I do like your music as well :-) lovely vibe!
are the stems vailable to download? xx
Hey Sam, not sure, it was back in the days, when they were releasing their album! I guess, you could ask them straight... or record your own stems... or ask a friends band if they would be up for something like this
Totally soothing music, I love it. Great album too! Congratulations!
Thanks dear! I hope you are well! <3 I had you on my mind recently!

Thanks egg for your words. 🙃🙃🙃
Agreed!
incredible (saugut)
:-) Geil! Danke!
Lol the OT is kind of overkill for trap beats but I’m glad to see content promoting the OT to musicians who might not be aware of it
Lol! the OT is such a killer and quite flexible. I love its restriction to 8-tracks, that makes me work more efficiently. its a nice motivation to try different styles with it, to see how to adapt the workflow.
sounds nice! 🤘
Thanks
@@BernhardHollingerMusic welcome! you music sounds great. I sent you a dm on IG and email for an offer
Nice work! Would you recommend octatrack or digitakt for ambient jams?
Hey Brian. Id recommend the OT. Its stereo and has 3 Lfos. Esp for ambient music, this is gold. 🌟
pure gold! <3
Is the octatrack decoding the mp4 stems?
Ot is working with wavs only. But yeah. All of this is the OT
Awesome video man, never delete it pls
Lol❤️
hihihihi, wont do!
I think if you work on your presentation a bit you could have a bit audience. Very amazing idea and sounded badass
Hey there. Thx. Im aware of this. Need to get myself a proper laptop first to be able to do better presentations.
made a tutorial about chain please
Cool. I will have a look. 😊🌹
hi there, chaining arrangements, right?
re: the difference between repetitions vs pattern length: i think that functionality is for when you have multiple track scales with polymeter // or long track loops by reducing the resolution per step or using conditional trigs. having the option to go long will make sure that the overall master loop length can complete before repeating/moving to the next row. otherwise patterns may restart before they’ve completed their cycle :)
Hey there, thanks for the addition. Yes, I am just getting into playing with the lengths of the rows in order to work with conditions, and to jump around different parts of the beats, loads of detail work, but it can bring sth worth the effort. just working on tracks now, to be released soon.
Extraordinary!
Thx!
Thanks <3
How did you go about recording the Birds? any suggestion? This my 2nd time listening and it's really nice
hey there, sorry, have been a bit absent recently! I was just focussing on not having noise or wind in the mic. I just recorded it in my garden, with my mobile! didnt mind the lo-fi-ness. Tbh, it was a quite moment so I was able to have a "clean" recording with just the birds! It's all about just listening and trying it! :-)
Thanks again Howard! all my tutorials are really intuitive and I actually continue to work with some of the tunes. I am about to release an EP on wednesday on Bandcamp, I worked exclusively with OT&electric bass!
Oh that’s FUN. Lil pinky paint
These are great man thanks for making these
Hi Hi, thanks for checking them out, I am thinking about a couple of new videos as well. If you have anything you'd be interested, I am happy to hear!
So Cool, we have very Bird active tree in our backyard and have recently thought about sampling them. OK....I'm going to give it a go, lawn mowers, dogs, sirens be dammed. Lol The birds sound amazing, btw how did you record them? Thanks
All of them sound amazing 😂😂😂 I just used my phone.

Schon was angeleiert/in Planung in dieser Richtung? Liebe Grüße aus Wien! Oliver
Bruder Ingolstadts!!!
great tutorials dude!
Thanks🙌
I like this and enjoy no talking because it flows nicely like a real time performance.I had a thought, you could do another TH-cam. On this TH-cam you would use this same footage but you would vocalize your thoughts and process. Like when Film directors have a running dialogue over the original movie. I really like this one with no talking and to have another one with verbalizing would be very cool (for me) Totally understand if that is of no interest to you because you've done it already and it's time to move on. Really love the sounds....and the music
Hey there, true, might have a look into that. 🙃
@@BernhardHollingerMusic thanks for listening and taking the time to reply.

just shared the link!
Lol, I first saw this as Anger-Mode on the Octatrack. Although, I find myself in this Mode a lot, Anger-Mode does not exist
Lol! hehehe, interesting! might look into a video how "anger"-mode would sound on the OT! :-)
