We went back in time to what I used to do as a kid. Good old fashioned fun in a river/stream, splashing, paddling and lots of laughs.

The Great Improver of Newcomen's Atmospheric Pump was the Great English Civil Engineer John Smeaton. He improved it's efficiency by 25%. But he still lost out to James Watt's newly Invented Steam Pump ( soon to become newly invented Steam Engine ) in the competition between the two.
Dragons fury is way better then spinball whizzer.....
Without Newcomen's Steam engine there would have been no machine for Watt to modify and improve. Watt's version of a beam engine came about 70 years after Newcomen's engine. By then there were 2000 Newcomen engines in use. There is a difference between them described using animation in my TH-cam channel. Both used steam to generate mechanical energy and work. Both deserve to be called steam engines. In Newcomen's day boilers producing steam pressure were too dangerous. So Newcomen filled a cylinder with low pressure steam, then closed the valves and injected cold water to make the steam cool, and condense back into water. Steam takes up at least 1000 times the space of water, so converting it back into water created what we commonly call a vacuum. With the air pressure in the atmosphere on one side of the piston and vacuum on the other the piston was pulled down into the vacuum. It pulled one end of the beam down, while the other end of the beam lifted a pump up, thus drawing water out of the mine. By the time James Watt came along technology had improved to the point where moderately high pressure steam could be produced. He applied this higher pressure steam on one side of the piston and vacuum on the other side to increase the force on the pump. Later, this evolved into a version that did not require the vacuum. So Watt did not really invent the steam engine. He improved on Newcomen's design. As you can see from other posts this remains quite controversial. It should be added that even Newcomen did not invent his engine in a 'vacuum'. He was preceded by a Frenchman Denis Papin who worked with the famous scientist Boyle. It was Papin who first used a piston in this way. He build models and presented it to the Royal Society in London. However, he could not raise sufficient funds to build a large scale version or take out a patent. In those days a patent application had to be submitted to parliament and an act passed to provide the patent (essentially a letter from the King or Government). So Newcomen took the idea and developed it into the first commercially successful engine, utilizing the energy of steam and converting it into mechanical energy. As with many inventions, the steam engine wasn't really the invention of one man but the culmination of the work of many people. We do need to recognize the importance of Newcomen as "The inventor of the first commercially successful machine to convert the energy in steam into useful mechanical energy."
I just subbed ! 💜
Very nice !! Which month was this ? I've always been wanting to visit Aberystwith !! 😀👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏴💕💞
@@spark_6710 Hi. It was March so nice and quiet. It’s definitely worth going up to the summit. Thank you for your sub.
Newcomen's machine was designed and built to supply Atmospheric Power. Watt's machine was designed and built to supply Steam Power. They are two different machines, so they shouldn't have the same name. What's wrong with Atmospheric engine and Steam engine, seems pretty logical to me. Or is it something to do with the Steam Engine being the Industrial Revolution, logic goes out the window? There's an Industrial Revolution's worth of difference between Newcomen's Atmospheric engine and Watt's Steam engine.
Beautiful Cockington ❤️
I went there
It's an Atmospheric Pump, not a Steam Engine. It provided ATMOSPHERIC POWER. In the 70 years of it's existence it didn't start an Industrial Revolution. It could'nt replace the Waterwheel. James Watt's Steam Engine provided STEAM POWER and did replace the Waterwheel, and so, kicked of the Industrial Revolution. Take away James Watt's STEAM POWER and you get no Industrial Revolution, just Newcomen Atmospheric Pumps and Arkwright's Water-Power!
Is your comment a bit pernickety maybe? The Newcomen Engine uses steam as part of its process. Calling it a steam engine isn't the same as saying "Steam but definitely not atmospheric-powered engine" which of course would be wrong! If I was being equally pernickety I might point out that your comment misused an apostrophe, and that seems a far greater sin than calling a Newcomen Engine a form of steam engine. Please feel free to seek salvation at the Apostrophe Protection Society, we are a proud British organisation with global reach.
A misplaced apostrophe doesn't compare to James Watt's Invention of the Industrial Revolution being falsely usurped by someone else. And anyway, I can't see anything wrong with my apostrophes.
@@Walter-w9v Generally It's is reserved for when 'it' owns something. So the first use of it's is incorrect, but I think the second case ,"it's existence", would be correct because the existence belongs to 'it'. Correct me if I am wrong Alistair. Then there is a typo could'nt instead of couldn't. It was Watt who liked to take the glory for 'inventing' the steam engine. But he definitely wasn't the first. You can't extract energy directly out of the atmosphere. You have to utilize the energy inherent in steam to do the work of creating a vacuum. So Newcomen's engine converts the energy in steam into mechanical work. It IS therefore a steam engine.
Love this blogg
Love a bit of drayton manor new coaster soon
Thanks for this! Great video.
Yes we know what beach-huts look like thanks - not much else content😞

I've never seen a video where the creator is more of an idiot. There are pinballs on the floor and yet it's Dragons Fury. And yet no attempts to fix it in the comments or anything
been many times and always enjoyable will pop in again the week of 15th April 2024 as back in Sidmouth again certainly a much loved bucket list place to go..
I am taking my family this time and they are all looking forward to it. It’s amazing and definitely worth donating while there. May can’t come soon enough. Hope you have a great time there.

In what time of the year does this happens?
Hi, I’m not sure when they start and finish doing this but I have watched them do it all through October time. Turn up just before dusk and it lasts about 40 minutes. They fly in from various directions. It’s worth going to see. Thank you for watching.
@@daysoutuk4313 I'm Brazilian and I'm planning on going to Aberystwyth to see the Starling murmuration someday. Thanks for answering!

𝔭𝔯𝔬𝔪𝔬𝔰𝔪 👏
its a mere not a lake
LMAO . Technically a mere is a lake that is really shallow in relation to its size (breadth). Take Martin Mere for example, if you have visited it you see a large body of water, yet its depth only ranges from 100 to 150 mm (4 - 6 inches. Science will tell you also a mere is a lake without a Thermocline.
@@daysoutuk4313 try telling that to a local 🤣
The rock music doesn’t really fit im afraid 🤦🏼♂️
What a pretty beach. Stunning views off the cliff railway. I have done the one in Bridgnorth and Aberystwyth. Great vlog mate keep it up 😀😀😀
I got 45
What would you rate our fairs?
They are good to visit and good atmosphere. The waltzers are brilliant. It would be great to see more rides for the bigger kids like a ghost train or even a sizzler/twister. If the fair comes to Telford or near by I will definitely go just to ride the waltzer and the Miami.
Well done great video keep it up
i love your videos so much xxx
Thank you so much for your kind comment. Thank you watching the video.
I like it it is so cool good job
Pretty That mate how long did it take to walk round
Some people motored around it and not stopping to look around. Those probably did it in 20 minutes. Because I have to keep stopping and resting and including taking photos about one hour twenty. I would say the average person could do it in about 40 minutes. There was things that the cameras could not pick up but looked great.
Pretty Place Chirk Aqueduct. Nice video mate.
Cheers Dean
