Sicilian Dragon Variation - Tutorial by GM Marian Petrov | CHESS KLUB
มุมมอง 5993 ปีที่แล้ว
Probably the sharpest line in Sicilian, of course if white goes for it. The critical line is if white goes for Be3,f3 ,Bc4and then 0-0-0. He can prepare a dangerous attack hoping to push h4,g4 and h5. After that Bh6 and mate on the h-file. Blackhas to stop h4 with h5 and then to try to counter attack on the queenside. If white skip Bc4 then black should play the line with d5. Here the game is m...
Sicilian Defense Svesnikov Variation | Tutorial by GM Marian Petrov | CHESS KLUB
มุมมอง 6583 ปีที่แล้ว
The Sveshnikov Variation was pioneered by Evgeny Sveshnikov and Gennadi Timoshchenko in the 1970s. Before their efforts, the variation was called the Lasker-Pelikan Variation. Emanuel Lasker played it once in his world championship match against Carl Schlechter, and Jorge Pelikan played it a few times in the 1950s, but Sveshnikov's treatment of the variation was the key to its revitalization. T...
Sicilian Defense Sozin Variation | Tutorial by GM Marian Petrov | CHESS KLUB
มุมมอง 3.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Another variation against Najdorf is 6.Bc4, the Sozin Variation . It brings the bishop to an aggressive square. Black usually plays 6...e6 to limit the range of White's bishop, but White can eventually put pressure on the e6-pawn by pushing the f-pawn to f5 (pawn-based attack beginning with f4).Then white has to decide between both ideas e5 or f5. Sometimes if black goes for the early b5 and b4...
Sicilian Defense Rauzer Attack | Tutorial by GM Marian Petrov | CHESS KLUB
มุมมอง 2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
White's most common reply against Najdorf is 6.Bg5, the Richter-Rauzer Attack. The move 6.Bg5 was Kurt Richter's invention, threatening to double Black's pawns after Bxf6 . After 6...e6, Vsevolod Rauzer introduced the modern plan of Qd2 and 0-0-0 in the 1930s. White's pressure on the d6-pawn often compels Black to respond to Bxf6 with ...gxf6, rather than recapturing with a piece that also has ...
Sicilian Defense Sheveningen System | Tutorial by GM Marian Petrov | CHESS KLUB
มุมมอง 3853 ปีที่แล้ว
In the Scheveningen Variation, Black is content to place the e-pawn on e6, where it guards the d5-square, rather than play the space-gaining ...e5. Moving the e-pawn also prepares ...Be7 followed by kingside castling. In view of this, Paul Keres introduced 6.g4, the Keres Attack, in 1943. White intends to drive away the black knight with g5. If Black prevents this with 6...h6, which is the most...
Sicilian Defense - Drazic Line | Tutorial by GM Marian Petrov | CHESS KLUB
มุมมอง 7453 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a very rare line where after white goes for the main lines with 3.d4 black doen not take but plays a6 instead. Obviously it gives white a huge choice of plans, but he could be tempted to play a type of positions which he maybe does not understand of will be with less experience comparing the main Sicilian lines. White can play 4.c4 with the idea to push d5. In this case black has to tak...
Learn Sicilian Najdorf | Tutorial by GM Marian Petrov | CHESS KLUB
มุมมอง 1.1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Najdorf is probably the most popular line in Sicilian. It seems that black is wasting time with a6 instead to develop faster the kingside but this is a useful move and later depending on the whites approach black can decide between pushing the pawn to e6 or e5. Against Bg5 and Bc4 to play e5 is wrong because white will get control over d5 and try to use it for an outpost for his knight.Black sh...

    Great video! I was looking for a video that shows most of the concepts and some key lines for the white side of the Rossolimo, and this one is the best I've found so far.

    There are many variations of the rauzer Sicilian but lichess doesn't recognize the najdorf version that you teach.

    Very helpful. I play the st George almost exclusively and transpose to this Sicilian sideline a lot. My results have been good but I'm looking for ideas to improve.

    There are so many possibilities in Bb5 sicilian that the open sicilian might even be easier.

    • @shors5841
      @shors5841 ปีที่แล้ว

      easier sure, but as white you would like to push for an advantage, and the plans in the open sicilian are too easy to follow, leaving black with a comfortable position

    • @kevinwellwrought2024
      @kevinwellwrought2024 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shors5841 well, if you are well-versed as white you can get an edge. Bb5 sicilian leads to crampy, weird positiins where white really can hardly come up with a plan or good move.

    I've seen some positions in the Sicilian and the Benoni similar to this where it is recommended to play e6 instead of e5 despite already having the support of the pawn on d6. Why is that?
