Avoiding spiritual ruts - Matthew 9:14-17 Sermon
It can be very easy in the Christian life to get stuck in a rut - to turn up to church and do the same things that we always do, but just 'go through the motions'. In this passage Jesus explains that we need to do things differently with him.

      @@elizabeththomas3662 What I meant was, I can't see how someone who was as devout as JSB could have written music without reference to his faith at all. According to Wikipedia, he wrote in his dedication to the Brandenbergs: "...as I noticed then that Your Highness took some pleasure in the little talents which Heaven has given me for Music..." I think this is important because I wanted to get this across in the course, that there ultimately is no sacred / secular divide. God placed us in his world and gave us gifts to make beautiful things like art and music. To do so, even in a "secular" sense, is to serve the Lord. This is something that I aspire to in my life, and I think Bach is a good example of a Christian who recognised this - although perhaps I am wrong. (Sadly, too few people have recognised this through history.)

    In verse 28, Ahaz had died. In verse 29, he Ahaz was the ROD of Azariah, or a.k.a. Uzziah, his grandfather who had smitten the Philistines (2 Chronicles 26:6). Ahaz, the rod of Azariah did NOT strike the Philistines. His grandfather did. You have to read this from the true Bible, the KJV, to get the truth from it. Azariah was actually credited with doing right in the eyes of the LORD (2 Chronicles 26:4). His son Jotham was also a good king who followed his father's example (2 Chronicles 27:2) So, the serpent was Ahaz, and out of his root DID come a cockatrice, his grandson Manasseh and all the rest of the kings of Judah after him, with the exception of Josiah. Now, we don't know if Netanyahu is of that lineage, but he could very well be. We do know that none of the kings of Judah that came after Azariah ever produced the fiery flying serpent of Isaiah 14:29 against the Philistines. Judah was too weak by that time and had bigger problems. And Samaria (Israel) was too busy trying to make an alliance with Assyria against Judah and ended up fighting against Assyria and being conquered by them. But, now, it seems that the "fiery flying serpent" may have come into being in the Israeli air strikes on Gaza against the Palestinians, the descendants of the Philistines.

    Good teaching, as always. We mistakenly think idolatry is a thing of the past. It is not. There are literally billions of people who worship idols today, more than at any time in history. Even in some Christian traditions, questionable practices about relics, icons, etc... often cross over into idolatry.

    Here is the pesher of Rev. 11: 15-19. (15)-- At noon on Tuesday, June 23, 44 AD, the trumpet was blown for the 7th & last seprennium of the Annas jubilee. In the Cathedral at Ephesus, Matthew, speaking for Agrippa the Younger, said, "The western Herodian party in the Diaspora has been founded, under Agrippa thr Younger. The associated Christian party under Jesus has been founded at the same time. Agrippa the Younger ius head of celibate communities & will have the title of Agrippa II". (16)--At the end of the noon prayer Theophilus Annas took his place over the eastern pillar, then at 3pm, prostrated himself towards Matthew.. He gave him the Roman tribute, (17)--saying, "I give you gifts, Matthew, king's priest to Agrippa II, the Priest-Pope in Ephesus, which is now the center of the mission. You are the priest for Rome also. You have appointed me as your Phanuel. You are head of the Saduccee celibates". (18)--Agrippa II has been appointed by Claudias the agent of Rome in the east. He has arrived in Ephesus on his way to Cyprus. This is his north lunisolar intercalation year, observed also by Jewish Christians as their greater half year. The Gentile mission fees are to be given to Agrippa. Gentile monastics are under Barnabas, acting as Crown Prince to Jesus. Luke, the head of Japheth is a deacon in Antioch under you, Matthew, & Titus head of the sons of Ham is in his party. Phillip the head of Shem has separated. No money is to be given to the Damascus party, who take their money from Agrippa's mission. (19)--The hermitage an hour from Ephesus was used for Herodian Jewish celibates, with its platform treated as a Holy of Holies used by Matthew. It contained an ark for the scrolls of the Torah. The Law was read by Atomus the Magus. The former Prophets were read by Gaius Costober Herod acting as crown prince. The latter Prophets were read by Matthew. Apollos was the Chief Therapeut. Herod Antipas was the Scribe-Treasurer.

    Thanks for these videos. Praise the Lord for pleasantness of simply reading and thinking about the English Bible (which took blood to produce). One thing: from my studies the reasoning for non-TR based Bibles for removing or not adding the passages they do is not reasonable (for example Iranaeus quoting long Mark before the Alexandrian Manuscripts exist show evidence for it being authentic). Keep praying that all of us see sin how it is and dont abuse God's grace. In the west it seems hyper grace heresy is rampant.

      I'm not entirely sure of what exactly I said which you disagree with. I don't think you've really understood me. Perhaps you can explain more clearly what you think is going on in this passage and where it differs from what I said. The apostles never healed anyone other than through Jesus - Acts 3:16, Acts 4:10, Acts 4:30, etc. No one is ever healed other than through Jesus/ Why did he tell the man not to talk? Because he didn't want people to make him king by force (John 6:15). He didn't want to be misunderstood. But it is clear to those who have ears to hear.

  • @zwijac

    If you're right, and the passage is significant because it's letting everyone know that healing happens only through Jesus...... why does the New Testament also give multiple accounts of the Apostles healing people? . Moab has an interesting history which takes us back to the judgment and destruction of Sodom. Lot, Abraham’s nephew, escaped the fire and brimstone with his wife and 2 daughters. After being told not to look back at the first sin city, his wife couldn’t resist and became a pillar of salt when she turned to look. Lot and his daughters fled and ended up in a cave. The daughters get the bright idea, since there were no men left in area to marry, that they would get their father drunk then sleep with him. They both got pregnant. The eldest daughter’s son was named Moab and her sister named her son Ammon. Could it be that God wept because he loved Lot. And he had save Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah, and now he had to destroy his lineage?

  • @motika6049
    @motika6049 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This one remains a mystery. Adam and Eve where not married. Eve was made out of the ribs of Adam. When God created Adam, he saw that it was not finished, Adam needed a partner so he created Eve out of Adams rib. Human beings are created to be with a spouse, they are one with each other, because the woman is created from the man, for the man. In this case it can mean that we will be one with our spouses without marriage, like Adam and Eve or our nature will change thus our gender and need for a spouse will disappear. But if our gender remains, we will have a spouse in the time to come.

    Christianity is a religion created in 325 AD, by Constantine and his "bishops of Rome." Emperors portrayed Sol Invictus on their official coinage, with a wide range of legends, only a few of which incorporated the epithet invictus, such as the legend SOLI INVICTO COMITI, claiming the Unconquered Sun as a companion to the Emperor, used with particular frequency by Constantine. Statuettes of Sol Invictus, carried by the standard-bearers, appear in three places in reliefs on the Arch of Constantine. Constantine's official coinage continued to bear images of Sol Invictus until 326 AD. A solidus of Constantine, as well as a gold medallion from his reign, depict the Emperor's bust in profile twinned ("jugate") with Sol Invictus, with the legend INVICTUS CONSTANTINUS. Constantine decreed (March 7, 321) dies Solis-day of the sun, "Sunday"-as the ROMAN DAY OF REST: "On the venerable day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. " Constantine's triumphal arch was carefully positioned to align with the colossal statue of Sol Invictus by the Colosseum, so that Sol Invictus formed the dominant backdrop when seen from the direction of the main approach towards the arch. Constantine worked to merge all of the different pagan religions into his new "christian" religion. He and the "Bishops of Rome" took most of the pagan festivals and incorporated them into something that both the christians and other pagans would accept. Thus, the image of the beast came into being -- antichrist jesus, the sungod of Rome.

    I don't think that any other system of slavery was like that which existed in the Caribbean and on the American continent during the 16th to 19th centuries. Chattel slavery was completely different to the serf-like systems that existed prior to the Atlantic Slave Trade. One only have to read the Slave Codes of the Barbados Parliament of 1661. Slavery for enslaved Afrikans was more than the dictionary definition given in this video and the premise that we are all born slaves is absolute nonsense. A theological argument that seems to be used here to excuse the horrible experience of my Afrikan ancestors at the hands of evil European Slave holders who professed Christianity and used the bible to support both the system of slavery and the alleged inferiority of dark skin people.

    Hi there. I am a new subscriber. I always thought that faith was just another word for belief. Belief in Jesus Christ and His sacfrice on the Cross and His buriel and ressurection on the third day. Also to believe that God is real and the Bible are the very words God spoke to the entire world? Am I wrong in thinking this way? Thanks so much

      Hi Lola, no you're not wrong! The point I was trying to make is that faith must lead to action. The Israelites didn't just say they believed - they acted on it. I didn't mention it but what I was saying is much like James 2:14-26 about the difference between faith and deeds!
