Empire Cinema Havant My first Job
I started here after leaving school in 1985 and the manger was a real great boss and he's still around and i often speak by email he doesn't live in the are but Coling Crosby or Captain Amazing as he was and still is known was a boss you could wish for. I remember my first night working and a view to a kill the bond movie was the film with Grace Jones and Colin could see i was a bit nervous first job after leaving school. he told me Don't worry it will be ok and you will be fine and he was right. i enjoyed my time there but sadly closure came and these are photos before the cinema was pulled down and a blcok of flats in it's place but kept the name Empire court. sadly Havant no longer has a cinema but they were such great days.

This chapel looks rather impressive and although disused, you kind of get an idea of what it used to look like when in use. I won't give out the name of the chapelor its location so as to preserve what is left. the history is rather interesting. and who knows what the future holds for this chapel.

The organ audio is the organ at St Mary's portsea newly restored walker organ by Nicholson and Co of Worcester. I felt this piece suited this video as both being walker organs. I can recommend St Mary's portsea organ a visit worth while when you hear how they have reverted the pitch back to its victorian style and when you see the new console it's more comfortable to play and you can get an idea of how the organ should sound just by looking at the console
Thanks for this post. Very impressed by the organ and your performance.
You guys are on the ball yes it Anton Darby who does a wonderful Sunday show on victory online Sunday 12 till 2pm

The track is Earthmate from the new Julia Fordham Album Called Earthmate. Julia did perform this live along with songs from her previous albums. She is such a lovely person to talk to and I got to meet her after the concert. The story behind this song is so amazing. Thank you Julia for a wonderful evening. Blessings to you
Saw her live Portsmouth guildhall Friday evening she was awesome and sung this song. I was privileged to meet Julia at the end and a lot of radio victory people were there it was a wonderful evening. I certainly recommend seeing Julia live.
I’ve had the pleasure of playing this pipe organ, it’s first class!
be careful this may be hurtful to the ears if your not used to hearing this sort of thing. as you can see i was stood right under the organ

the song is Arnold Gutbucket who has Radio Victory connections its called Portsmouth Tea song
he was the brains behind soul bossa nova which was used in the Austin Powers Movies it was an instrumental track. at 55 seconds i realised when taking the photos the lady with the pink hair is Heather James who was on Express FM a while ago. Another song from Calafornia dreams Called Mama said some episodes of the series are on you tube.
the audio track is from a series a while back callled Calafornia dreams about a high school band and a lot of thier songs made it to cd this one is called Handle it with care. it was an American tv show but aired in the uk such great songs though.
our thoughts and prayers go out to all who fought so bravely and also we remember those who sadly didnt return and those who sadly lost thier lives. for all of these brave people we are truely grateful.
And all, who fought for the UK, and all who suffered,to this day.
@wizzerdsuntzu great choice of words and we remember all wars including the recent ones and I pray also for those who suffer with mental health and ptsd and pray more help becomes available. Thank you for your words.
I am sure you will recognise the audio track as Highland Cathedral pipes & drums of the Scots Guards. if you watch the series train truckers there is an episode where Royal Highland Fuselier is transported to another railway on loan for a gala day event.

A sleeping giant indeed and a good piece to illustrate some of its strengths, in this case the reeds! It is another great part of our culture in danger of being forgotten, I hope you continue to highlight these treasures. I wonder where the recording came from and who is playing, cannot find it on You tube at a quick glance. Maybe someone, the local council for instance, could incorporate this instrument into a programme of the arts, it would be good to see it brought back to life once it has been restored.
Hi this is the link to the audio track of cockers tuba tune that I used last time I got a tour of inside this organ it was feeling a little sorry for itself I hope it is restored. I believe south coast organs do occasional work. Here's the link to this recording. th-cam.com/video/C-qbT-o4t6o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4B9deYtWae3Sqs78 Organist is J Marty Cope
@@NatalieJmedia Thank you very much for the information, it is a jolly good piece and I have the music myself, no doubt the addition of a brass band improved the reed sound! It would be good to hear the instrument itself, a large 85 stop instrument like this must be worth listening to and restoring.
I couldn't resist tuba tune by Norman Cocker. sadly the Guildhall organ is not in a very playable state and was only used once a year for Graduation. its not noticeable that an organ is there as the pipes sit 30ft above the stage and the sound comes through a grill and the console is moveable and only plugs in on one place on the stage. it has a good range of stops and i believe it is a compton just like Southampton Guildhall, but that has two consoles
Have loved this piece ever since I heard the late, great Dr Francis Jackson perform it at York! Thank you for choosing to play it, especially when a great many people are of the opinion that the organ repertoire consists of only two pieces - the Widor and the Bach T&F in D minor!!!
I chose this piece for our wedding 35 years ago, and first heard it at a friend's wedding well before that! This rendition captures the beauty and quiet majesty of Handel's music.
the organ you hear on the audio is the new restored St Mary's Portsea not far from this church
Hi, Thanks for this. Could you add some information? Organ nuts like myself like to know the stop list, the builder, and any history about the organ if possible. Thanks for a nice entry.
@@aidanrossiter3295 sure will add this today for you
History and stop list now added to the description hope this is helpful
The music is this organ and tuba tune by Reginald Porter Borwn
1998 - organ said to be almost unplayable as there has been no organist there for some years; 2004 - now playing reasonably well, however, all the reeds are pinned off, preventing use, although the pipework is still there. It makes a very nice full sound in the building
