Very helpfull video. Mostly finished the job, just need to put the trim and the seat back on tomorrow. Don't think it's mentionned in the video but apparently you need to disconnect the battery because of the airbags in the seat.
Thanks for this video. I just replaced this main cable and the 2 shorter ones in the back on my 2014. I struggled to find good guidance on how to best tackle the job. This video was one of 3 or 4 that I found useful. I used a nylon zip tie to jam the pedal assembly in its lockout position, rather than the vice grip approach. Someone else asked about routing the cable. I fed the equalizer mechanism through the hole under the rear seat first, and pulled it into position under the car. Then back inside, I worked from that hole under the rear seat towards the front, placing the new cable along the same route as the old. I cut out sections of the old cable as I went.
When you say jam the assembly to lock out position...do you mean put the lever into lock just like step it down all the way? I need to replace mine too. Thanks
Thanks for the vid.. So the front seat has to be removed and do you insert the new cable from the bottom rear of the vehicle toward the lever at the front? Thanks..
They typically brake in the very back of the vehicle. If you look under the rear of the WK2 you will see a spring assembly with a brake cable going to each of the rear brakes. These tend to rust really bad and brake apart.
Good video but A bit more about Locking down the pedal would have been helpfu. I know there is no space to work in or easy place for a recording.

thank you a lot for video, what year is your vehicle ?
It would've been nice to see you actually do this in the video rather than explaining it. This video doesnt help at all.
Good video, the bolt and nut are 18 mm. As of 3 October 2021 can't get main cable, which connects the right and left cable. Rusted through 🤨
Canada here...bout to do mine...that's it...lol...just get to it! Thanks n keep turning that wrench...one love
