Episode 6: The Aqua Rave
Finally made it to Hikertown! Such a wild and fun space to prepare for our AquaRave along the Aquaduct. One of the hottest and most brutal sections of the PCT. There was no better way to do it than with amazing friends and a party. We made the most of the windiest flattest 26 miles to the first water and cowboy camped. Then managed to not get blown away as we hiked through the wind farm into Tehatchapi. What a section! Glad it’s over 😬

มุมมอง 2.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I hit the 500 mile mark! It was a huge milestone to be 1/5 of the way done with this incredible trail. Though it comes with its challenges, like the heat, it is so rewarding at the end of the day. Episode 4: Swimming, Eating, and Some Hiking

After leaving Big Bear, the trail got hard for me emotionally. I said goodbye to a very good friend who came to visit and maybe spent too much time in town. I decided that I needed the trail to be much more fun! After passing the 300 mile mark, I made it to Deep Creek Hot Springs where I met some amazing people. The trail got much more fun after that, including a very scary hitch to the Joshua ...

Things don't always go as planned... My thru hike of the JMT was one of those instances. There are things we can change about our future, but the one thing we can't change is the force of nature. Backpacking | Alice/ Toxaway Lake Loop
มุมมอง 1484 ปีที่แล้ว
Taking the whole family backpacking means an awkward home-made family documentary. We're all seasoned backpackers, but that doesn't mean we all haven't made rookie mistakes, like bringing the massive 4 person Coleman tent tied to the exterior of my father's pack. This Loop is HEAVILY used and unfortunately folks are not following proper Leave No Trace ethics. It is used to death. Please, please...

Beautiful. Thank you for capturing your journey and sharing it with us.
Thanx for posting your hike. It sure seems like a good time other than those stinky need a shower moments. Are you still on trail?? 🤣
What a great trip. It’s almost 4:00 AM and I am wide awake thi morning. So I jumped on to TH-cam to see what was in my que. well, I had some trail magic waiting for me in the form of your video. This was just what I needed!! I’m having a little bit of a pity party for myself as I’ve got a hip injury that has flared up and left me side lined from any physical activity. Few things are permanent and my dream of hiking the PCT are still alive. I’ve really enjoyed your JMT journey. 🎉🍾🥂
A rugged lady😊
Hi Morgan, I just watched your adventure. I became a grandfather about a year ago. I wish you could know how much happiness and joy you brought to his life. He must have been very proud of you. Thank you for sharing ❤
I’m laughing with you when you had to lower yourself and ask day hikers for food 😂
What a story! What a journey! Thanks for sharing, great video
Cool. See you on trail.
Wow!! You are amazingly inspiring! So happy for you! I sent this to my super daughter., Thx
I loved your journey and video as you hiked. Thanks for sharing ! There is a great book “Force of Nature”, by Joan Griffin. True story of 3 women who also hiked the John Muir Trail.
You are such a hero.
Wild but amazing
I have been watching videos tp get more prepped for my JMT journey, i BAWLED my eyes out when i heard your voicemail that your gpa left you. your willingness to keep putting one foot in front of the other no matter how hard the road is at that moment is inspiring! thank you for sharing your incredible journey!
I love 5:30, "super happy". This is why I hike - for those moments of simple pleasure that bring total bliss.
Great video, you are so authentic. Thank you for taking us with you😊!!
Wow! The best JMT video I've seen. Doing my hike this August, and I can't wait. Thanks for sharing. 😎👍
This is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Good for you girl! Very brave to take on the JMT by yourself. I’m now 67 years old and regret not doing the trail when I was younger but had family obligations. My son is now 35 and an avid hiker who wants me to join him on the trail. I’m watching shows like yours for inspiration. I’m an experienced hiker and understand the hardship of the high Sierra which is why I hesitate. I can do this!!
Enjoyed this to tears, thank you for sharing your journey Morgan!
Once you embrace your true self…the world is alive in a way few will ever feel! Congrats! ❤
North Fork! My home town!
Thank you so much for sharing the video. You were very inspirational. I loved every minute of it. You’re a rockstar. God bless.
Loved this
Anyone know what happened to Morgan? Her Instagram account does not work and she has not posted here for a year
Thank-you for such a vulnerable look into your journey! How inspiring, I could not stop watching once I started! I am planning this very trip for the future and was looking for something real, not an expert, but raw. Know that your journey is an inspiration to mine and has helped to provide the courage to do the journey for many of the same reasons as yourself!
Ive got the exact same tent as you, colour and everything!
Amazing journey Morgan! Way to persevere and press through all the obstacles, both mentally and physically! I am hoping to get a reservation to make this hike happen next summer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also, did you ever put out a video that goes over all your gear that you packed in? Again. Great content and thank you for sharing! Cheers! Zach
That cut at 13:18 was just *chef’s kiss.* The emotional rollercoaster is beautifully captured right there haha. Your sense of humor about it from the edit chair is the cherry on top.
Brilliant. Loved the whole journey. I hope you had a successful re-entry into home life. Reality can be a bia£ch.
what most people don't understand about solo hiking is that you're not really alone. There are people out there. The positive side of it is what most people never experience...THE perfect pace. It's just wonderful. You never feel pulled or pushed. It's golden. Camp is less fun unless you hook up with people. I just walk all day until dinner and bed - which doesn't have to be at dark time according to me. I think the concept of heaven came from those mountains. The closest thing I've ever had to a "religious experience"...it makes sense out there. "and then I got high"....that place is second only to the arms of my wife. He tangata he tangata he tangata - it is the people it is the people it is the people
You rock!
Dude. You’re so badass. Oh my god I hope I can do this too. To solo this trail is a dream of mine.
Such a well put together film about your journey. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wow!!! What an amazing video. I appreciate you sharing all aspect of the trail life. I imagine it’s an incredibly emotional experience in so many ways. Thanks so much for sharing this. It was a pleasure to watch.
Thanks for sharing Morgan. I am planning my hike in July, and came across your video while running. The message from your grandfather.. no words.. wow. I don't talk about this often but my brother took his life in 2019, which is one of the reasons I'll be doing the JMT -- he will be with me. I also have a message on my phone from him, I hold on to dearly.
It's interesting seeing the rattlesnake encounter from YOUR perspective. If you remember, you had been hiking in the front ALL day, and then we switched spots. 40 seconds later is when the snake slide towards me. "Shaman"
I finally got around to watching other people's videos. This brought back a lot of memories. Hope your help went well! "Shaman"
❤❤👍👍👌👌😊😊
Once you are in between those big mountain ranges, there is no way out. I think thats why it is called the John Muir Trail. Pretty challenging! Congratulations!
You hid behind a tree after you had food, lunch, out and avoided being seen or smelled by the bear. Incredible. You are brave. You had a lot of fun animal contact. And got video of them. Yes 🙌 🎉
Worked forest fires there after high school. Brings back memories. Well done!! Great documentary. You should be proud of yourself. That’s a massive accomplishment.
Very inspiring trip and video. Well done!
I've watched many videos on the JMT, done a lot of it myself. I have never though, seen such a deep emotional and life transforming video like yours. Without knowing you, I have to say I am so proud of you and your Grandfather would be too. Congrats on an amazing journey, finding yourself, and being vulnerable enough to share it in such an inspiring way with us. I wish you all the best for your future
Just watched this again. So inspiring. Well done Morgan !
I hiked about 500mi of the PCT 20 years ago and got off in Independence after summiting Whitney. I planning JMT 2024! Loved your story.
You're an amazing lady.. Great hike and raw emotion. Loved this video. ❤️
This was such a great picture of what life is like on the trail. Thank you for sharing! It makes me ready to get out there again! Sorry about your grandpa, made me cry. What a great way to honor him and his message to you. Why is your footage so good? What kind of camera do you use?
This is amazing. Such a well put together video showing the good, the bad, and the ugly. Congrats!
Any new videos? :)
This video 🙌 Beautiful. So inspiring ❤️
