close enough I'd say .. these Stingray Specials nailed that 'Stingray' thing in a refined way and they're very consistent ... I believe (like 70% sure) they move the bridge pickup position on the HH models to the identical to where the single H sits .. they used to be offed by a bit that I'm pretty sure ... in reality, the output impedance will never be the same because of the extra wires and pu, and also the extra magnetic field on the neck PU will more or less affect the vibration .. I don't believe they'll be identical to the Single H model but close enough .. and the HH does offer alot more usable sounds . If I'm really after a Stingray sound, the single H would do. those are wild and has its magic .. if it's your only bass, and you're planning to do different style of music then the HH can cover more ..

has been a while .. it should be the MTD brand stainless steel if I remember correctly ..

kudo to all the modern touches they put into these builds. It took them long enough to roll out something in this vintage spec, in such elegant way with all the fine details ..

I agree! True, they really are enhanced vintage styled pickups, as you would expect from Dimarzio. Fantastic and probably underrated pickups!

yeah .. that extended fingerboard is classy ... to me that's Rob's signature ... Mouse is overall dark, mb-2 is overall bright .. and deep 4/5 is in-between with the most acoustical sounding ... love them all ..

Well, they do give you a gig bag with a $3k instrument….there’s that.

yeah ... these are the best of both new/old school ... the overall tone range are alot more usable than the classic lines ..

I’d say save up for a used one. Many of the ebmm ray’s from the 90s, early 2000 are really nice and you can often find them at a deal. I personally like the heavy ones. Imo, ebmm makes the best mm style basses but their parts are proprietary and not available to the public. It’s also the overall build of the whole package that makes them famous

@@BassSouthwest well, I gave up on finding an old fender jazz and went with the next best thing out there. And was blown away by Jimmy’s work .. really full/bold sounding, very delicate and sweet.

Noble has 2 tubes, one for xlr and the other one for the 1/4" output; thru port on the reddi is just a y split of the input signal that often goes to the amp for stage monitoring ..

$3k is actually reasonable for today’s standard. Rob’s basses are pretty magical.

depends on what regular brand means ... but in general i'd say none .. it has a unique upright sounding quality in terms on its hollowness and thumpy-ness ...

@@tree-style oh like does a hofner viola sound similar to it in any way? This is my dream bass and was wondering if I could buy a budget one that has a similar sound until I have the money to buy the contra.

@@albertjosephavenido603 not really ... the contra 5 has a more defined upper mid ping, overall sound is more well controlled than the hofner. i'd go with something that has ebony fingerboard .. hopefully has semi hollow or hollow body to archive a similar sound ..

actually .. i think you are right ... I was doing some lookup on internet .. mine should be the 2010/2011 model .. it says MIJ and serial starts with letter U

@@tree-style it really sounds good.. I love the tone from it.(sounds exactly like Marcus' ). what's your setup? Are you going directly to your audio interface or from the bass to an amp head/speaker cabinet then to the audio interface..

@@joshmcdzz6925 bass into Bergantino bamp, all setting flat, no processing DI line out there into my RME ufx for monitoring, then have a line out there into Apogee Jam 96k into iPhone, using the built in camera app.

tension wise they're on par ... they sound and responses differently

hey, it has a meaty neck, more like a pbass ... not necessary a fast/slim neck, but feel great and easy to play

mine was about 8-9years old, and was played extensively .. i can still set it up easily with low action . there's a link in the description with some thoughts/ comments ..

my first ebmm was a bongo 4hs .. then having ebmm in/out multiple times throughout the past 20years and still think of my first bongo occasionally ..

I don't have both of them side by side .. based on what I remember . . Euro 5LX is more exciting right out of the box ... very flavourful, pumping n in your face .. sr5 special hh is more gentle in comparison at flat setting... more open sounding with more head room . things can get more fun with mid/lo boost .. I also like the older Stingray or Sterling with ceramic pickups .. those pump hard all the way ..

@@anotakudetective1546 not in my home setup. And never dig the look of the btb line. My favourite Ibanez basses are the grooveline . Btw, sr5 special’s sound is surprisingly easy to work with for recording purposes. That’s where the extra headroom shines.
