Night Paddle - Menai Bridge to Port Penrhyn
Hi there. I am looking to get a Fusion II with a though of being able to not only pkaybin thd ocean, but also take it to some intermediate rivers. How good of a surfer this kayak is. I've used Dagger Stratos 12.5 and P&H Hammer, Fusion is a bit shorter so I am curious if its any good picking up less steep waves... cheers!
Nice! What do you think is the best fit for my 5'6" 175lbs size.
Could someone please retrace the route of the film Rails to Talsarn? Would love to see what it looks like now! Rob
Absolutely fantastic features. What a pleasure to watch while green with envy😂
Hi Wern,...great footage, lovely spot you got there. Question,..maybe a daft one!...I'm 6' tall, longish legs therefore,..and 95kg dry- in your opinion would a Virgo fit me in an HV version,..or would the Leo HV be a better match?
Think the HV version would suit you best. Im 5'9" tall and 90 Kg and probably top end for the MV. The Leo looks great would love to try one.
@@werngethin9092 .. many thanks for clarifying, helping me decide.Hopefully I'll get an HV Virgo or Leo early next year when stocks return in England.
Excellent rolling session!!
impressive hybrid kayak
So what’s the difference ???
Not a great deal to be honest. I think they are great all round boats. The latest version has a nicer skeg and more volume around the knees. The older version fits me better because of this but not a big deal. I love playing with them in the surf.
wish you would have given a more detailed talk about difference, I am looking at get one
Very similar boats. The Mk1 is a Large and the Mk11 a medium but I find the newer version has a little bit more volume. Back rest is more comfortable in the Mk1 (roll top) and I prefer its foot rests to the plate in the newer version. Better skeg set up in the new version. Both are brilliant boats and you can't go wrong with them. I find them really good in the surf. Hope you get one sorted soon. All the best and thanks for your comment.
@@werngethin9092 First I want to thank you for your reply. I have Wavesport Ethos 10 now, I am looking for a 2nd crossover so I do not wear the one I have now out. I am looking at the Katana and Fusion both. Funny you talk about foot pegs and foot plate, I was thinking of the rail system foot pegs my self, 90 percent of my kayaking is Class 1/2 and exploring kayaking, running small rivers, creeks.
This is amazing!!
Porth Dafarch to North Stack return on Holy Island Anglesey
Spectacular scenery. Where is this?
North West coast of Anglesey, Wales.
Great video. I'd like to do the Swellies one day. I've been around the area a few times and considered it. I actually came here searching for info on the P&H Delphin, considering getting one. Mainly for touring but I like the idea that I can use it for surfing too. How do you find it for touring? Eg the effort and speed of covering a few miles compared to other kayaks of similar size; whether it feels comfortable going sideways/diagonal to the wind in a chop.
Delphin is a great kayak. I've never had an issue with covering distance with it. But it really comes into its own for manoeuver ability.
You make it look so easy
Thanks. It actually is very easy once you crack it. The hard part for me was to learn to submerge my head as part of the re-entry. That was mental rather than physical. I always have a nose clip handy as that helps. You need to slow things right down and avoid the temptation to try and roll up before your butt is back in the seat and feet behind the footrests. I've found this self rescue method is the fastest and works in rougher water. Its really helped my rolling as well as it forces you to slow everything down and get your paddle in the right position for a recovery sweep. Pick a nice quiet spot in the summer and practice at your own speed.
@@werngethin9092 thanks for the tip! I’m planning to learn these when I get the chance to get out!
Defaid.
Camped her a number of times and am still always amazed by the beautiful sunsets .
Hi what outfitting do you have?
It's the core outfitting with a non ratchet backband and foam passed full foot plate. It's ok but back support could be better.
Looks easier to roll over the Katana. I’m interested in owning a crossover or Aire outfitter.
Katana easy to roll as well. Used one in the pool. Nice boat. The 9 suited me better and I'm 5 foot 8 and 82 kg.
Alright thanks, so I’m a long time rec boater, currently use the solo argosy canoe. Just want a kayak again.
Is is stable enough for a shallow water?
Ciekawe..jaki to jest rozmiar...
Great. I hope that was you on guitar I.?

I went up Moel wnion earlier this morning.
How do you make headway into wind with that paddle?

I've not up there for years.

A pity you didn't show the route you took, where you started from etc. Great views though. Diolch.
do you have a skirt over the top to stop water from coming in?
Yes always use a spraydeck.
Piranha fusion II?
Yes the updated version from 2018
Did you have a waterproof case on your gopro?
No. The Hero 7 is waterproof down to 10 meters without a case.
Nice one I. Loveley music. Naughty photo-bomber though!
That stabilisation is really very impressive! Stunning scenery as well :) Subbed!
da iawn
Great thanks for sharing:) Is the estuary safe to kayak ? Any nasty hidden surprises?
Plan with the tides - flood tide up and ebb back to Barmouth. Channel can be hard to follow as it dries up to nothing outside of it.
I liked the sound effects Ian.
I did swear when I saw one wave crashing towards me. Sorry about that😉
Hi Wern. Whereabouts is the arch you paddled under.?
Darren Anderson it's on Anglesey between Treaddyr Bay and Rhoscolyn. You can also walk to and on it from the coastal path too.
I love this place we holiday here every year
Nicely put together Ian. Maybe that last shot should have ended in a roll?
derek perkins I would have got my hat wet or lost it!
Love this site , been a couple of times. Didn't manage to get here this year though ..😥
Riding on a smooth surface shouldnt be shaky and stuff like this, right?
This is without stabilization or whatever, right?
IpadGamer TM The stabilisation was on but not much effect
It's a great site. Strangely never been on the beach- we're always passing through.
Nice.That guy gets everywhere!
Wow. Another video of that handsome canoe.
derek perkins Got some high mileage on its clock now
Great choice of music- very atmospheric.
Need to watch it with a pint of Guinness Phil Brilliant video
more to come😎
Wern, another great vid with stunning views. How do you choose the locations you visit, be it kayak, walking, biking.? Do you know the areas well or just pick a spot on the map? I'm moving back to Wales in August and can't wait to get my walking boots back on.
Hi Darren - thanks for the nice comments. Good question! A bit random to be honest. I do get a lot of inspiration from what other people put on TH-cam and I follow interesting videos up with Google Earth. Sometimes I will do a short scouting trip to check out a new area. I find that each new adventure reveals new places to explore. It does help that I live locally and only work part time. My kayaking trips are with a local club so its the coaches who usually pick the location. Good move regards coming back here!
Another great video. Leaves me jealous. I love the locations you explore.
Darren Anderson cheers!
Great video. Did this in reverse last year starting at the campsite Bryn Gloch before finishing at waunfawr and a pint in the pub and microbrewery. ATB Andy
