I your t-shirt? 💪
What is stability like?
For me it's very tippy. It all depends on where one's coming from. What kind of kayak are you used to paddling? Then maybe I can do a comparison...
@larscrantz i currently have a touring kayak about 65cm wide. If you say its very tippy for you then its probably very tippy for me too.
@@MilaBorys-u2l Thanks for the info. Compared to your touring kayak I would say the Zedtech Freelancer is extremely tippy.
Thankyou for your reply
That was a crazy unlimited swell!
I love those waves when you just go on and on...:)
Looks like a nice solid sea kayak 😊 Stable enough to paddle it in winter time!
Oh, I had forgotten about this one, but yes, it was nice to paddle, stable and like a sea kayak, but had a footrest so I could keep my knees up and paddle it like a normal kayak or surfski.
@@larscrantz The big double I paddle has a footrest like a surfski. I can also paddle it with my legs together. I had sea kayaks where I had to push the two pedals to paddle straight... And if you push the right pedal the left pedal comes closer to you. Painful!!
@@kayakintro That sounds tricky. I only really have paddled these sea kayaks to get them into my "collection" of boats I have paddled. I prefer paddling lighter kayaks with footrest and of course the surfskis we have in the clubs I'm a member of...:)
This looks very tippy... Narrow and the seat seems high.
Yes, it's by far the tippiest one I have paddled...or rather tried to paddle. It only has a width of 39 cm. It was very interesting though, I felt like a total beginner...😂
Very nice kayak! I got a kayak from the end of the sixties that has a similar look but rounded and without a rudder. It is also shorter at just 4m. I will upload a video about it soon.
I havn't paddled this one. It's for people weighing 50 kilos and less so even I would be too heavy. I was very much inte this kayak brand (Struer) a couple years back so I wanted to also have this one included in my youtube "collection".
@@larscrantz50 kg and less becomes very restrictive! I would need a serious diet. I would be happy going down to 70!
@@kayakintro I weigh about 60 kg's, really not much for being 186 cm, but it works, I wouldn't know how to gain weight actually.
@ Follow my unhealthy diet of creamy food and ice cream and let’s talk about it 😂
@@kayakintro 😂🤣
So that's when it all started 🤣🤣
Haha, yes that might have been the starting point...😎
That was acrobatic 😅 You needed a white water kayak 😂
The tricky part with that place is that you don't see how bad it is until you are there, and then it's too late😂. I really wasn't in control here, I remember thinking..."what if the paddle should break now". But step by step I managed to get out of there...:)
@ So it’s like signing some mortgage contracts? 😂
@@kayakintro Haha yess😄
You like to play Russian roulette? 😂 No fall allowed! How cold is the water now? Nice downwind on the way back!
Haha, not really😂! The intention was to go further but the wind was a bit too strong for me to be able to do that, couldn't resist a session in those conditions though...:). The water is about 8 degrees, and temperature in the air was about 11 that day. Forthcoming weekend will be below zero in the air.
@ 8 is really cold… I remember falling in a 13 degrees water and it took me 5mn to remount instead of the usual 30 seconds. No more muscle power!! I even thought about swimming to the shores as it was just 30 metres away (not a beach but some rocks at the bottom of a cliff).
@@kayakintro That sounds bad, I wouldn't want to get into that situation! Must have taken a long time to get warm after that?!
@ I stayed in the hot bath for hours 😂 Now I am very cautious with cold water. This Saturday I am collecting a sea kayak double, it’s 730 cm long 😅 and 58 cm wide! I believe I beat all surfskis in the choppy water here. Have to race them to find out. Only a surfski double would be faster, and it has to be the longest ones because a Epic V8 Double is only 670x57. The Nelo 600 I paddled was only 600x60.
@@kayakintro I can imagine, cold water is no fun at all, and it can go very wrong. I'm glad it worked out fine in the end for you:)!
Good practice! But crazy conditions
I'm not ashamed to say that I wasn't in control at all here...😂🤣
@larscrantz didn't notice 😋
@@IamNothing82 Haha thanks😊, it was really a step by step thing to get out of the mess...😄
You choose the perfect day to get back on the water after a while 😊. Never seen such choppy water where you paddling.
So seldom those oppurtunities come by so I try to grab them when they do. For choppy water; below is a session I had a few years back...😲th-cam.com/video/99Z84Hj0M5I/w-d-xo.html
Varenda våg känns! Bra jobbat!
Tack Ulf:)!
My faraway friend. You always look like you're kayaking It's beautiful !
How did these waves happen? Because the boat kept changing its speed? Not the time to fall in 😅
If you look to the right there's another boat passing with higher speed, those waves meeting up with the waves I was already on produced the golden wave. First I thought of naming the film "Caught between a Hawk and a Fox" (those were the names on the boats)...😂
When I saw the title I thought you were paddling a Nordkapp sea kayak!
The Nordkapp motor boats are great to surf behind...😎
Stans mest notoriska båtstalker 🙂
Haha, ja det är nog bara att erkänna, jag är fast i akterhängsträsket...😂🤣
Funny to see that you are always leaning to the right and i on the left, even if we go to the other side 😂
The lopsided duo...😂🤣
@@larscrantz 🤣
You should be both paddling a tandem surfski 😂 Might help keeping the balance 😅
@@kayakintro haha, didn't think of that.
@@kayakintro 👍😂
What temp is the water?
It's getting cold fast now. I actually took a bath after this session, probably the last for this year. I would guess 11-12 degrees...😲
@@larscrantzThe last bath until 2025?! 😂
@@kayakintro Haha, I mean outdoors...😂
Big one!
And a tricky one, I didn't think I was going to make it back to the wake. Always nice though when something unforseen happens...:)
my everlasting friend. It's fall !...be Happy Kayaking !
That boat had a perfect speed 😊. I see you are already wearing gloves. Here the water reached 16 degrees for the first time this season but too much rain! Currently it is like one good sunny day in a week…
Yes it's getting cold fast now, I actually took a bath this saturday (5 October), probably the last for this season, I would guess 11 - 12 degrees in the water now.
The water was quite choppy that day! :)
There's a certain spot where it's always choppy.
It came just too fast…
That’s a quite large boat! I see you are paddling again your trusted kayak 😊
Yes, from now on I paddle indoors (under a sprayshirt😂), it's getting cold real fast now.
Quite choppy, and I think it’s the first time I see a boat sailing in your videos. Looking already cold there… Still cold here!
It's getting cold fast here now, it was one degree below zero this morning. Look below, I see that you have commented as well...😂th-cam.com/video/Ss6Bw9hj2TE/w-d-xo.html
Big boat is a good boat.
I tried to to what you do so well, but I think I came in too late.
@@larscrantzyou're too kind.🙏
@@larscrantzWhen it’s a bit warmer here I have to try that too 😂 I always worry about ending into the propellers.
@@kayakintro 😂🤣
Busy on the water
Haha, yes that was a good day considering it is this time of year. The intention was a calm paddling with a friend I havn't seen for a while, but I managed to get some wake surfing in as well...😂
@@larscrantz always a nice surprise.
@@IamNothing82 Sure is...:)
Hate when that happens.. sometimes i don't understand why
Tack!
They were nice waves, deep and powerful!
The water is not so deep that near the shore, that makes it a bit more interesting.
You had to paddle harder than when paddling the Nitro but what happened to the Nitro paddler? Some optional swimming lesson? 😂
Yes, the Nitro is much easier to drive. Haha, no he is actually there all the time, you just can't see him.
It was a good start! I see you are wearing gloves again. Here it is normally spring but we are having a polar vortex so it is some icy storms with rain. Some snow even in the south.
For me it's a must to have gloves this time of year, by now we have only 4 degrees some mornings.
Can't you put a bigger rudder on it?
I have thought about it but never really explored what it would take to do that, maybe I could. In a way the small rudder makes it more interesting to wake surf in that I have to compensate with tilting the body...:)
@@larscrantz true
@@IamNothing82 Also I like the fact that everything on this kayak from the 70's is original...:)
You had to try 😂
😂🤣
Yahoo Mr.. Lars. That is awesome. OMG your determination toward the boat is at great. Well done. Wow I can almost feel your arms. Miss YOU
Good to hear from you again, thanks for your support:)!
@@larscrantz Mr. lars. My comments kept disappearing. I have been watching...and this is my temporary solution. see ya Hope you enjoy adventures
Wow that was close! 😂
I made a late decision so not lot of margin there...😲😂
And what is your opinion? I don't think we get any NK Club in NZ unfortunately. I checked their website and strangely they say the Club 480 is faster than the Club 560! It would be interesting if you can paddle (and fit in) that 480.
Hm, I didn't even know about the 480, I would love to try it. Well, the Club 560 is heavy so it's not as easy to drive forward as the Nitro 600. But it's a very stable boat, not a worry to tip over, would be perfect in your waters...😎
That black boat looked like a car converted into a boat!
Haha, yes you're right, very funny looking:)!
Nice! Personally I think intermediate surfskis like the 550 are the best compromise. They are fast and without the need of having to stay concentrated all the time. Is this one the first generation or the second generation?
Yes I really like this ski. It's the first generation, from what I understand the second generation should be a bit more stable...?!
What's the big thing at the back? You were coming back from the supermarket with your weekly shopping? 😂 That boat wake looks surprisingly wide and powerful for such a small boat.
😂haha, I had to fasten the camera so close to my back, it's impossible to get it to stick further back on this ski. I agree, I was surprised myself, very nice:)!
That was so cool! The guy at the right was very close! Easy to hit each other at that paddle distance. Did he get the bridge pillar? 🤣
He had to let go right before. Yes it was a bit tricky to not touch him, I had to paddle all the time because I was so close to the center of the wake. He had a much easier ride, not many strokes there😂. It was great fun though to be three in one wake...😎
Finns bara ett ord: PROFFS!!!
Tack för dina fina ord Ulf:)!
@@larscrantz det är du som gör jobbet. Envishet har du kommit långt med. 👍🏼
Haha, cool. I think we have a new fenomena going on 😂
Two minutes after I left the shore this one showed up, so it was a very good start:)!
The sky is so beautiful.Lots of leisure boats around the waterways... Always be happy with kayaking, my friend !.
I was hoping you two would chase a boat 😂 Very interesting rudder position on that kayak.
Yep, as far back as possible, the VKV way...:)
@@larscrantz Does it retract like a skeg? Having it so much at the back is good for less drag but it probably doesn’t help for turning.
@@kayakintro Yes you can retract it by choise, from the cockpit. You're probably right, less effective so far at the back.
That was super bumpy. What’s the brand of that boat so we don’t follow it? 😂 The water temperature is finally reaching 15 degrees here. Still cold but it is better than 13!
Haha, I don't know, didn't catch the brand😂. Here it goes the other way, I think it's still about 18, maybe 19 in the lake, but from now on it will be turning fast.
Half portion boat but not half waves! That boat looks taller than longer. Very odd looking.
As I told our friend in the Netherlands; I was thinking of giving this film the title "Funny looking boat"...😂, gave some nice, smooth and easy waves though.
That was a good brace when it became messy 😂
Thanks:)! I love those moments when it gets real messy and I manage to pass...😎
@@larscrantz Me too! Strangely I am usually good when I brace instinctively. It is when I think too much that I get into troubles…
