Portugal used to be a very nice and peaceful country , and in the small towns it still is , but do not get so comfortable in bliss , as Portugal is changing , the same Shit that is going on in the USA, Canada and Europe is slowly coming to Portugal , it will take time but it will. I was born in Lisbon and was there just a few weeks and this time I felt FEAR , to walk around at night, as for Canada I have hope the Fucken Idiot will soon be gone , and Pierre will become our Prime Minister, as for Portugal I hope the Portuguese wake up and see what is coming their way.

It sounds like you are prone to overthinking. Life can be simple & easy, why complicate it with useless thoughts? Don't overthink, don't over-complicate. Just go with the flow, each day as it comes. OK, you moved to Portugal alone. It's an excellent opportunity to go out and meet lot's of people. If you were with family or partner you wouldn't have such a big opportunity. Have you tried joining the Univesidade da Terceira Idade in Tomar? It has over 300 members all 50+ and dozens of activities & outings. If you don't find one activity that suits you, just propose one that does and get a group together, be the leader. You are an artist, so maybe you can propose something artsy. Like a taster session where folks can come and try out materials and techniques. I guess many never tried painting. Show your materials & techniques. Another thing: the Camara of Tomar has a public building that is used as an arts center (the old Moagem near the big rotunda) and they let local artists work there for free and showcase their work for set periods of time. You can contact them and ask about it. You'll get to know a bunch of people and them you. But don't start thinking "Will they like me? Won't they?" because it's not a beauty contest or a job interview. In Tomar there are also walking groups organized by the Camara, every week they have short and long walks. Get the programme and join, that's easy to chat with new folks when you are walking together. The best way to meet people is to join an activity group. Don't ever think "Will they like me?" But do think... "What can I offer that would be of interest to others? What would they enjoy?" Talk to them and find out. Good luck! 💯❤💛💚 TIP: Don't over-share your life & problems on 1st meets, everyone has their own, they don't need to hear more. 😬🤭🤔Keep it for later, when you develop closer relationships but only if they ask about yours. You'll get more positive results by being genuinely interested in others.

When you dont fit in since childhood is because your mother or/and father where not prepare to bring you into the world.

My parents immigrated to Canada 🇨🇦 in the sixties. I never felt at home in Canada. My mother didn't like living in Portugal. Totally different times. After she passed, I returned and fell in love with Portugal 🇵🇹. I was there as a tourist to be honest even though I was born there. But I haven't felt such a sense of peace in my inner soul as when I am back home where I was born. Am I crazy.

Ola, I am in Portugal just or a holiday (again) and I am thinking about moving here after I start my retirement. And I always felt strange with my own people and family. Nevertheless I feel quite confident in moving anywhere I want to go, because I am always in my company. I love the outdoors and the sometimes rough beauty of middle portugal. So I am looking around for some cosy home. In one years time I want to have moved from Germany to the area of Castello Branco

We have to face what we dislike and, sometimes, accept it is something to be addressed for our own sake, not other's. Even if it's something as shallow as our weight or our finances. I have Asperger's (autism spectrum) so my perspective is quite odd. I notice sometimes people need "acts" and time testing us to understand we actually have good intentions. Most people also tend to be quite inertial. Myself included. You took your own life in your hands and you moved. I did the same (multiple times) in the past too. That only gets us so far. We have to keep changing if we're unhappy. Well, that's what I believe to be sensible. I'll tell you if I get good results if I become less lazy and do enough of what I just told you is what we should do to be happy... 😁 I can tell you that I sometimes suffer for a very long time over small things because I avoid dealing with people. Give me a dozen forms to fill alone, I will do it. Same with an IKEA workbook to install an entire kitchen. Please don't ask me to call someone I don't know or, worse, go in person solve a problem. (AFK) Social phobia is my kryptonite LOL. I don't mind leisure interactions though. Just interacting with people who can use the pen to hurt me badly, physically or otherwise 🤪

Sometimes there is no choice but to roll with it! Some great tapping apps out there too. It takes time to come to terms with the fact that your life isn't what you expected it to be. On tough days try to think of yourself in the 3rd person and how you can help them!
