John Nettles was the better actor. I never thought much of his replacement who, in my opinion, tended to over act.

We found Midsomer Murders by chance. Tom's Detective is far more charming, witty and believable. Many of the episodes durning the final three seasons are pathetic in comparison.

Reminds me of my dad: retired US Air Force Midwesterner who was stationed in Britain during WWII. Cannot replace Nettles; chemistry with Joyce/ Jane cannot be duplicated. He was warm, personable even when annoyed with the dry British wit. SF/ CA/ USA
