Weeding for maize for a small scale farmer

The negative impact of early-season weed competition on corn yields is well documented. The yield losses often are much bigger than one would expect from competition since the corn's demand for light, water and nutrients are limited early in the season.Weeds can harbour problem insects and crop diseases.#weeding #trendingnow #Dairy #Dairyfarming #Silagemaking #Silage #Freddairy #Dairyfarmingink...

The quality is good and high compared to cows. The trick is dont use it when fresh coz it contains soo much ammonia.
Well done bro
Thank you for watching
Adequate fodder is key to dairy farming. God job sir. I'm also preparing my 1 acre land but in my case am doing pure super Napier.
Awesome content.Keep up the good work
Hi Fred, What were your results on Tumbukiza vs Rows on Super nappier...?
What if it's one day after AI, you see blood
How do you weed without pulling up the new grass?
Very good work mr.young farmer.I see you soaring high in the sky. Thanks alot for your farming tips. They're very illustrative.God bless you abundantly so that you continue teaching us.
How do you make profit from one dairy cow
1.Planting your own fodder. 2.intercrop fodder that have high crude protein thus minimizing the amount of concentrates. 3.Do it on your own to eliminate labour cost. 4.Always ensure your cows and the cow shed is clean and comfortable bedding to eliminate diseases and treatment cost. 5.timely vaccination and insemination.
I have tried Napier for two times but not successful, can you share me the right way?
1.stage of harvest is very crucial. 2.Wilting-Ensure you expel as much water from Napier as possible. 3.Compaction-Ensure you compact well and expel any oxygen inside . 4.Sealing.-Ensure you tightly seal and put a heavy object on top to apply pressure.
Good Day Sir, I hope you doing well, Can I feed my dairy cows with only maize silage ? They will still give me good milk
Maize silage is high in energy.Dairy cattle need carbohydrates, amino acids, fatty acids, minerals, vitamins, and water. The amount of nutrients required depends on the stage of lactation, milk production, and the cow's body weight.
Meni alirecover?
Not fully, but with time she will.
Hi to you Fred. It's a wonderful demonstration $ can be understood excellently well .Wooh farmers tuchanuke sasa hivi.Long live Fred so that you continue to teach us.

1. Do you just do dairy farming as the main ecenomic activity or you are employed?
I am not employed.I am a dairy farmer.
@FredDairyFarm wow so encouraging, I didn't know one can survive with just dairy farming ju naonanga wengi wenye wamesucceed in it ni kama wameajiriwa. Alaf kwani huwa unaosha ngombe ama kwa nini ni Safi hivo
@@Kurukash with proper planning you can survive on dairy farming alone.Proper feeding and cow sleeping on clean, soft and dry sawdust makes the cow clean

Do one on biogas
Currently i have not installed biogas but with time i will and i will make video on that
Hi, what is the recommended spacing when planting super napier as compared to normal napier grass. I have the cuttings but the recommendation for spacing is quite varied.
if you are using rows,10 cm apart in rows that are 30 cm apart.if you are using tumbukiza method(holes) just use 1metre by one metre.Once they have grown and first cutting, they will fill the entire area
@@FredDairyFarm thank you. I would like to use the tumbukiza method but i am not sure of the sizing of the holes that i should dig when doing so. I have tried with holes around 30 by 20 cm in length and width and like 10 cm deep. Will that do or would i have to add the sizing of the holes?
@@CecilHenryOfficial Dig round or rectangular pits 60 cm (2 ft) deep and 60-90 cm (2-3 ft) wide.
Well done that is it alot of manual is needed
Use as much as you can.if you have it
I have served my heifer 3 times but not conceiving what maybe the problem?
poor timing poor feeding reproductive disease technical error by the inserminator might be some of the reasons why its not conceiving.
Where is the farm located, I would like to visit
Whats your contact. I would like to talk to you on the average cost of the structure
kindly give us an update on Mweni on milk production
DiD you plant at the same time?
no.Maize first and beans after two weeks
What is the measurement of your calf shed
6 by 5 fts
Are you saying we cut at 3ft or 3m?
😂😂metres
3m
How many cows can 1 acre of super Napier support ?
10-20 COWS. But it depends with the; breed of the cow. body size age and many other factors
4)how about super napier silage u din't share the result
for my case it was not such good.My cows didnt like it at all
Thanks Fred for the encouragement. I however have two questions for you: 1) At 1.5m height what is the nutritional value of Super Napier? In this video you just said nutritional value is high, but the question is how high? I suggest if funds and time permit that you take samples of super napier at 1.5m height to a laboratory for testing so that you get correct i formation to help you on deciding on the correct height to cut your super napier. Remember farming is a science. Nutritional value of super napier is also influenced by other factors such as soil fertility. 2) Can one really do away with dairy meal concentrate and fully depend on super napier or other fodder crops? 3) How has been the performance of your dairy cows in terms of milk yield and body score condition since you started feeding super napier? Have you ever done any comparison between maize silage and super napier silage? Looking forward to your informative responses.
Good work
Thanks for watching
Hello, Do you have any opportunity for me to work with you?
Currently no.Sorry

Glad to Hear that. Thanks for watching
Good work Fred. How strong are the silage tubes in terms of re-usability?
Thank you.1000 gauges are very strong and with good management you can reuse them over and over again
Can I get your contacts please
Which country are you live?
Kenya
Is that drum filled with water or concrete?
water
How long will silage take to be use
depends with the number of cows and the feeding amount
how do you compare the two methods you demonstrated for planting supper napier pack Chong 1. The tumbukiza and burning the stems in soil
In tumbukiza method, all nodes might not sprout, but when you bury the nappier stem all the nodes sprouts.burying is the best
Than you for your good demonstration . Can i have your telephone number to reach you for some clarification .Thanj so much .
