    One cannot rely on the assertion that if you pay a lot of money for a part you're getting a good quality part, however one CAN rely on the fact that if the part is very inexpensive, that it's probably junk. In this business as well as others, if the deal seems too good to be true, that it isn't true. I was glad to hear that you got your money back. As an aside it might be good to look at how you managed to lose the first shaft in the field and install something to prevent that from being able to happen. Perhaps some strap loop around it or ?? that if were to break loose somehow that you won't lose it. Professional mechanics will tell you they've pretty much stopped buying parts off Ebay and Amazon due to quality control issues. A lot of them won't do the work if the customer supplies those parts because they don't want to have to do the job again at their own expense or the bad blood that arises with the customer because they have to pay to do the job 2, 3 or more times.

    You went through a dip with your tractor and the bush hog grounded, momentarily stalling the cutter and bending the shaft. You don't seem to have a pivot on the cutter. Had the same thing happen on my tractor, even with a floating mount.

  • @lewis2553
    @lewis2553 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'd like to see you buy a bush hog for $400, these days! 😂😂😂 By the way, there are different ratings for different PTO shafts. Rural King has square ones that are stronger than the rectangular, lower grade ones. Some are for bush hogs. Some are for rototillers.

    • @Home-GrownHomestead
      @Home-GrownHomestead หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m my area used 4’ bush hogs regularly go for around 300 dollars used on Facebook marketplace. And the Amazon pto shaft was listed as rated for rotary cutters, but thanks for watching

      @@Home-GrownHomestead Well, I suppose a 4 footer would be less. I was looking for a 4 or a 5 back in 2022, here in north Alabama. New ones were unGodly high, like $1600, if I remember correctly, and the cheapest used ones were around $900 to $1000. But God was on my side. He led me to a scrap yard where I found 2 pairs of perfectly good blades, just slightly used and enabled me to weld up the body of my dad's old one. It still works great. There was also a good, hardly used, 3 point hitch rake there which normally would cost hundreds of dollars. I bought it, too. I think sometimes, these days, that children come by their parents stuff, either by inheritance or theft, and having no desire to do any real work, they sell it to buy themselves some drugs. Otherwise, there wouldn't be all this good stuff in a scrapyard.

      @@Home-GrownHomestead For now it's just for fresh eating, I haven't learned how to make jelly yet, because a peak ripe plum, especially a Santa Rosa plum is like no other. Yellow flesh and red skin definitely describes the santa rosa, but if you allow it to ripen more, it should be purple with red and yellow gradient flesh, and the flavor and juice is just phenomenal, even better than peaches in my opinion.

      Thanks for commenting. We do everything to keep our animals safe from predation. We have predators in the area such as coyotes that would love a tasty meal of goat. The electric fence is there to keep them where they are safe. The electric shock is small, it does no harm to the animal. It is similar to a strong static shock. And this keeps the goats from eating the chicken feed which may have ingredients that are not for ruminates like goats. Thanks again
