To think this guy was killed in an automobile accident rather than old age at 104. I wonder how much longer he would have lived? Also, I remember Dr Caldwell Essylstyn mentioning him in one of his lectures. Joe must have ate a very healthy diet.
George chuvalo was badly beaten by frazier, turning away in his corner.
A total embarrasment to the wing chun and martial arts community..watched several of his fights and there is little if any wing chuna application at all with the exception of his stance...which any good wing chun instructor will tell ..is not the way you fight in real life...Obasi throws alot of looping punches, I've seen him do a wing chun drill of chi sao..and its sloppy he uses his size and strength rather than technique..Anyone who thinks practicing wing chun or any martial art will prevail going up against a skilled trained fighter who spars regularly and is use to give and take, and is conditioned to go several rounds is delusional. Anderson Silva, John Bones, Ferguson etc... are good fighters who apply wing chun principals and techniques when and where necessary..but they don't rely on wing chun only
Sorry to hear george chuvalo is not well he cant speak etc. Such a great man not a bad looking guy too all best great man wa a pleasant guy he is too hes a warrior
George always stayed on his feet! Tough guy! as a Canadian very proud of him!
Its crazy that George Chullo outlived Joe Frazier. Rest in Paradise Smokin Joe
God bless
👀 👓 ❤
legends
Both got stopped by Foreman.
Cuz he's George Foreman
Legends!
The both also fought Geoge Foreman
My two favorite boxers of all times. Tough as heck and humble and the same kind of style in a way
Two absolute fucking legends. Today's heavyweights don't have shit on these guys.
Great conversation with two true Legends! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Joe was such a loveable person
That's classic, George is the best...man, Joe Frazier had a wicked left hook.
George failed to mention that they were both knocked out by George Foreman. Coincidence? I think not.
Neither was knocked out ever in their career, they were stopped either by their coaches or the referee, but never has another man stood over either George or joe and counted them out, can’t stop someone that isn’t willing to quit
@@MaxSchmidt-ts3cwGeorge Chuvalo wasn't even knocked down once in his life, Joe was knocked out by Foreman twice
@@EBBX. show me where Joe was laying on the floor and counted out, both have been stopped, chuvalo only once really due to a broken orbital against Frazier, the stoppage in the foreman and chuvalo fight wasn’t good considering chuvalo was in 0 trouble, getting stopped and getting ko‘d are 2 different things, Frazier got dropped 6 times by the hardest shots of foreman, and he never lost his consciousness, which is why the fight HAD to be stopped
@@MaxSchmidt-ts3cw George Foreman himself said that he hit Ali with his hardest shots
@@EBBX. doesn’t matter what George himself said, he tried hitting Ali with his hardest shots but he only ever hit Ali either on his guard or on the body, if u look at both fights you can clearly see that Frazier 1. took the shots flush on his chin and 2. even moved into the punches so it’s not that hard to figure out who got hit with the harder shots
George is very clear and coherent despite taking numerous punches during his career against some devastating hitters, Joe,however, sadly is showing signs of mental deterioration.
This was hard to watch
Surprised that when they called out their common opponents they forgot to say George Foreman.. Foreman blasted through both of them.. & was one of the 2 to only beat Frazier..
This wasn't a "forget". Casualists should know they had other unmentioned common opponents: Ellis, Bonavena, Doug Jones, Wipperman, Turnbow and Mike Bruce. Trying to read too much into that...
@@diogenestonguewag59 GEORGE FOREMAN is not an unmentionable "common oppenent" (like those others you googled).. Foreman wrecked BOTH OF THEM... & know who to apply that tired overused unoriginal "casual" label to, bro.. i done forgot more boxing then you'll ever know.. trust me
@@reoscorpio If you have to tell me to trust you...I didn't call you a casualist, just that they "too" should know. Rale on!
@@diogenestonguewag59 Ok, whatever..
It's great to see these two old battlers together with no hard feelings from either man. George was still mentally sharp in this interview, Joe was another story though. I'm no Doctor, but looking at Joe and hearing him speak, indicated that there was probably some brain damage from the awesome power hitters Joe faced in his career. George had many more fights than Joe did, and took a lot more punches in his lengthy career than Joe ever did. George was fortunate to get out of the business with his head still straight. Damn, what a brawler both of these warriors were! These two battlers faced the same fighters, like George Foreman, Ali, Doug Jones, Jerry Quarry, Manuel Ramos, and Buster Mathis. Joe fought maybe 4-fights too many whereas George was still knocking them stupid even in his las fight. Many thanks for this wonderful video.
Not sure about Frazier in this interview. Possibly he had some brain damage. But he was a heavy drinker and I wondered if Frazier might be under the influence here. Frazier did die from liver failure.
I have a huge respect to Mr. Chuvalo ( The shoots from outside boxing life, that He took are pure horror ) Only the mentally strongest people could survive
They don’t have gentlemen like that in the sporting game anymore. Just men acting like kids. Eventually this will fade away and the old will become new again.
Old but Dynamites💥⚡🔥💥🥊🥋🥊
One of my fav videos of all fucking time
Some good videos here. Where has this bloke gone
They both fought George Foreman. Surprised that conversation didn't come up.
I am not, as they both also fought Ellis, Bonavena, Doug Jones, Mel Turnbow, Dick Wipperman and Mike Bruce. Can't mention everyone in a short casual conversation.
....both fought George Foreman...
Tyson the 'gypsy queen' Fury.
Neither Joe or George bothered to mention Oscar Bonavena...he was a common opponent and had both of them down. Chuvalo lost to Oscar by decision in 1966. Shame on both of them.
Bonavena did knock down Frazier twice. But he never floored Chuvalo. That's Chuvalo's main claim to fame. That no one ever knocked him down.
Shame? As far as Bonavena is concerned, a tough awkward guy, but he'd punch-push, hoping the opponent would fall and a knockdown would ensue. Never came close to knocking Chuvalo down. Fantasy fanboy stuff, that. Casualists should know they had other unmentioned common opponents: Ellis, Foreman, Doug Jones, Wipperman, Turnbow and Mike Bruce. You're trying to read way too much into it...
The Golden era of boxing 🥊!
Funny how Chulvalo took more punishment that Frazier, but his speech seemed unaffected. Frazier, on the other hand, has speech affected by time and punishment.
They both also fought Foreman. 👍
Anybody that can step in against Foreman, Frazier and Ali and never get carried out is a bad mother.
Two great guys
Kind of amazing George didn't mention their most common opponent. The guy neither of them could go more than 6 rounds with. Maybe George doesn't remember? Maybe it's because it's another George?
I think he forgot Bonevena as well who was tough as nails!
Casualists should know they had other unmentioned common opponents: Ellis, Bonavena, Doug Jones, Wipperman, Turnbow and Mike Bruce. Trying to read too much into that...
Im going to mma using kung fu, mainly wusu which is close to wing chun, and variations from other styles like tiger and mantis along with chi gongs. No need to switch styles just fight, show me him fighting a couple of your guys, i like watching technical martial arts in, remember to use relaxation when they hit then absorb with your guard, u are a sponge.
Looks like they not giving him a chance, just let him fight
The greatest fights ever were not ko's. I saw Ali=Frazier at the Loews Theatre. it was none stop action -no time even to buy popcorn.. Never before : 2 undefeated Champions, Classic Boxer v, Puncher. it was close but the knockdown clinched it for Joe
Joe hit Ali with some murderous hooks, the audience must of been going nuts
I don't think they mentioned it, but Ted Lewin had studied gyms for a long time while working his way through art school as a pro wrestler. HIs book on being a teenage pro wrestler features many great illustrations he did while waiting for his matches.
Before I watched the video I thought the Wing Chun man was going to be a scrawny 5’2 nerd.
Joe & Cloverlay ducked Liston.
I'd never seen a fighter literally grab another fighters arms and pull him off the ropes!....great stuff.
Two boxers and gentlemen
Chuvalo's memory is excellent, he remembers all the dates of his fights.
Sadly, you're wrong. Chuvalo is confined to a Toronto nursing home, suffering from the advanced stages of dementia.
@@richardweiler6931maybe due to his age rather than boxing injurues
WC a dominant style ? That's funny.
Chuvalo had it right the first time. He first fought Ali March 29, 1966 in Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto CA. The Narrator had it wrong. For Ali last fight befor exile was March 22, 1967 vs Folley. Ali didn't fight again til Quarry in October 26, 1970.
JOE was from my Home Town, of Beaufort, S.C. He had a Large Plantation here.. as a Young fighter of 17 years, was introdused to Joe, and was invited to go and workout with him at the plantation.. Great Guy! He was VERY Down to Earth! I miss him.. R.I.P..
I meet Geroge on several occasions over the yrs of boxing n even had a few whiskeys with the man, WHAT A KIND SOUL!.. We had him come evey yr to our club shows. Today BIG GEROGE is in a retirement home with Dementia, PLZ PRAY FOR OUR CANADIAN CHAMP!... WE LOVE U GEORGE ❤ 💯🥊🥊
He's absolutely one of the classiest guys. To go through what he did and still be kind to thoughtful like he is, is unheard of. Hope he is at least comfortable. He deserves that much
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷♥️✝️
I remember being a kid and George coming around to clubs across Canada to talk to u fighters about drugs after he lost his son. After he had he initional speech/talk with he clubs we all went through a workout led by him. Amazing man, very kind, generous and passionate.
